Not Too Bad

Recently purchased this 96 Concorde from a friend. His mother went into a nursing home and the car had only had 3722 miles on it. hard to pass up right? first two months of owning the car went pretty well. changed the oil in the third month. (it was pretty much sludge) websites like edmunds and fuel economy.gov say I'm supposed to be getting around 21 mpg. WRONG. i have the 3.3 V6 and I'm averaging about 12 mpg. Still love the car though. Only complaints are the poorly made cupholders.

Best Car I've Ever Owned!

I bought my '96 Concorde new and have driven it regularly ever since. It has been completely reliable. I've done regular maintenance, and the few items that have been replaced were due to wear, not failure. I cannot say enough good things about my car. It is now to the point that many components are wearing out, but I don't mind spending the money to replace them. It's been such a good car that I will keep it indefinitely. This is one purchase that has paid off handsomely for me!

3.5l eats gas in town, but on highway it's great. I had the computer system in the car figure out my gas mileage all the time driving pizzas. I saw 14mpg in town b-4. Leather seats were AWESOME and so was the sound system. Bought car for 2500, lost it to tranny failure 6 months into it that would have cost me 2000 to fix. Good scape metal now.

I've had this car for over 5 years now with no major problems, even though I've put it thru almost every conceivable terrain and traffic. If you're looking for reliability + affordability +comfort, take a look at the Concorde. They changed the design in 97 and went crazy on the ovals, personally I like mine better.

I have had my Concord for almost a yr now. My dad bought it for me it hopes it would be a good school car. The first night I had it, it had an oil leak my dad easily fixed it. I like it but it's not the greatest on gas. And it's a little big for me. Other wise great car. I just need something more fuel economy because I will be driving a lot because of college.

VEHICLE HANDLES VERY WELL AND HAS BEEN EXCELLENT AS FAR AS REPAIR ISSUES ARE CONCERNED. THE BIGGEST EXPENSE THAT I HAVE ENCOUNTERED WAS THE RACK AND PINION UNIT,

Incredible! Of 21 vehicles I've owned, this one has been the most reliable by far. Bought it with 16k mi., now have 230k with original (not rebuilt) motor (3.3l) and tranny. All repairs done after 178k mi. Included timing chain, motor & tranny mounts, rotors, radiator, coil block, alternator, rad fan & water pump (3x since 70k); the rest is intact and in perfect working order including a/c, tranny, motor, abs and all accessories. The secret? change all fluids at the required time set by the manuf. And use the best brand-specific synthetics for all components. This holds true for any of today's vehicles, saving money in the long run; in 8 yrs this car has more than paid for itself.

Looks Good But High Repairs

We've had significant repair issues over the years and I would not recommend this car. (and I wouldn't recommend another Chrysler product unless I was convinced they've improved mechanical reliability) The dealers have generally been good to work with but its gotten a little ridiculous. We've replaced the entire cooling system, alternator, fuel and power steering pumps, the sun roof leaked, new exhaust, head gasket, and assorted smaller items in addition to normal wear and tear items. Not good. Why don't we sell it? Everytime we fixed an item we figured, "What else could go wrong?"

My car is really comfortable, and has never given me much trouble. The air conditioner has given me some trouble. When I purchased the car it needed to be replaced because the clutch was harshly removed. Since replacing it the clutch burnt up recently, so I don't know if that is a common problem. Other then the air the car has always been great. This is also my first car and I've learned to drive with it. It is a little big but has really grown on me.

You would have to dig pretty deep to find fault with this car. It really does get 27 mpg highway - 19.6 city - Rock solid - quiet (except for some time noise on concrete highways) and very reliable. The spacious interior - comforttable seating and superb interior design make this one a fun car to own.

Design is great. Confort and convience is very good. You get a lot of extras at a resonable price. However, if you keep this car more that five years, the repairs will eat you up and if you want to sell, the resale value is nil. Either way, you lose.

A car to avoid

This car has been the most unreliable vehicle I ever purchased. We've repaired the A/C 5 times, it's gotten new heads, p/s pumps (3), water pumps (3), and a host of assorted items that my mechanic (I've confirmed 80% of his diagnoses with the dealer) claims he never sees on other cars. Oh, replacing windshield wipers - $150 because the motor and wipers are hard connected.

I was very impressed with my Chrysler. The engine and transmission are top rate. The 3.5L is very powerful and extremely smooth, as is the tranny. The LXI trim is very luxurious and comfortable on long trips. Interior design is very classy. I didn't expect such refinement out of a Chrysler but was pleasanly suprised. Handling is also quite good for a car of this size. Now the bad stuff: It eats gas with the upgraded engine, Also, although the car is quite reliable in most areas, I've replaced the compressor for the air conditioning 3 times and it's gone out again. At $800 a repair, I'm just going to have to live without A/C!

A Little Piece of Heaven

After upgrading from an 89 Olds Ciera, this feels like the epitomy of luxury. The leather bench is a little slick during tight corners, but the suspension and steering are tight and responsive. The 3.3 is more than sufficient for highway and rural roads alike. The A/C will freeze you and the heater makes an oven out of the huge interior space. The computer reports over 31 mpg on highway trips and averages to 24.3 for day-to-day driving. The tranny keeps me concerned, but only b/c of other ppl's stories, I've had no trouble with it.

My wife loves it

We purchased it new in 96, and have enjoyed it very these past 8 years. We had transmission trouble early on and later at the 6 year mark had outer tie rod problems, both covered by our 7/70 warranty. Recently we replaced the inner tie rod bushings, a kit is available, inexpensive, easy to replace, but does require an alignment. All concorde, LHS, intrepid owners need to know that these bushings will go out earlier than most because of the placement of the steering box up and behind the engine. Heat 'em out. Left undetected they will go bad and become potentially hazardous. Most of the review problems read have not been seen with our car.

I bought the 96 Concorde LXi to replace my old Supra Turbo because my little boy is getting bigger. The car has pretty good performance consider its size. I've driven it for 30000 miles since I got it and replaced: rack & pinion, rear break rotor and pads, front brake pads, four tires, rear struts and that's it. For its mileage and age, I would say it is pretty reliable. Engine is still smooth and powerful. All features work. Pretty good car.

I've had this car since 2000. It has been the best car that my family and I have ever owned. We have had no prblems except with the suspension. But we didn't have any problems with it until around 150000 miles. It is fun to drive, and everything. And insurance is low. AC is the best, ice cold, and the heat is like sitting in a sauna. I would recommend this car to everyone. It is my first car and I can't say that I wouldof wrather had a better car for the price range. It was cheap. My overall view of the car is a cheap, reliable, and stylish car to drive.

Love the way this car handles. I live in a mountainous area w/ lots for sharp curves & steep hills & this car handles them very well. I love the 7 speaker bose & creature comforts in general. I had to replace a fuel pump (really easy thanks to an access panel in trunk), wheel bearing 2 years ago & have the steering fixed last year, but considering the car has over 175,000 miles on it that’s not too bad. The air conditioning stopped working 4 years ago but considering everything else the car has to offer that’s a minor inconvienence.

This is the first car I have ever owned that I can honestly say I have no complaints about. I did buy it used but there have been no major problems with this car since I have owned it. The only money I have put into this car is for routine maintenance. Right now I am shopping to buy a new Chrysler, I would not buy another brand of car again.

I've owned quite a few, but this is the overall best car. The car handles like it's on tracks - ultra-stable and predictable. The only repair we've had in 5 years was the oxygen sensors, and I replaced those myself. It's a beautiful, reliable, fun car to own and I can't think of anything I'd change on it. What a great car! My wife also agrees it's the best car we've ever owned.

LXi a pleasure all around

I was not sure I was ready for a pleasure vehicle at my age, now I wish I had bought this vehicle long ago. The vehicle has pick-up and the best economy overall of any vehicle I have owned. 30.33MPg round trip driving summertime, through the mountains, interstate, and a little over 2 hours waiting in a traffice jam. The trip was over 1400 miles for that average. The car had 67000 miles on it when I took this trip, and it was not a slow 55mph trip! The only thing I wish was different about the car is-a performance quicker steering. This is a great car!
