I Hate To Give It Up
Mine just got totaled! Daily driver commuting to work from 12/99 until I retired 6/06. Since then occasional use only. Serviced at recommended intervals and Mobil 1 and filter every 3K miles. The ONLY repair it has ever required is replacing the drive motor on the driver's window and I live in a very icy climate that destroys power windows and windshield wiper mechanisms. It is the only vehicle I've ever owned that I can literally say I never had problems with it and it ran as well on the day it died as it did on the day I bought it. I kept telling myself that it was getting old and I should get a new car but I never found anything I liked better that didn't have a 3-pointed star.
Woe is Chrysler
I am laughing reading these reviews. I have literally had every problem listed: windows stopped going down; interior lights would not shut off; alternator needed to be replaced; motor fans stopped working; alignment is problematic; radiator replaced; battery (which is in a ridiculous spot) started leaking and burned hoses; and now, it is finally at it's death as the transmission is done. On a positive note, it does have 190,000k miles and if I did get the transmission fixed it might go 250k. But dang Chrysler! Come on!

Fast with Class
Bought Car with 185,000 miles. It had overheated and had a rebuilt engine. It ran terrible and the check engine light was on. I purchased and installed new brakes, a MAP sensor, a throttle position sensor, oil change and repaired some shotty wiring. Also many cosmetic items like floor mats and seat covers as the leather was ruined. This car is alive and well and ready to go another 100k. Plenty of torque and a smooth shifting transmission. The inside is as comfortable as a lazy boy and the AC is cold. Its now almost twenty years old but doesnt look out of style at all. Everything is electric but the heated seats no longer work.

I Hate my Car
I've wanted a 300m since the 10th grade and finally purchased one. The day after buying my car it began to stall coming off the interstate. Had to have it towed to the dealer had to have a water pump and starter put on. Within weeks, My steering wheel had to be turned about a 90 deg angle to go straight. Had to replace tie rods and wheel bearings. Long to short, my car has been in the shop 8 times in 16 mo. I had problems with AC buttons going out at random, two broken window motors, crank sensor, and transmission. Just yesterday I have noticed the sound of air coming from under my hood when accelerating. It sounds like brakes would if they needed to be bled. I hate my Chrysler with a passion.
Loved it for years but now disappointed
I used to love my 300M. What a great car at a good price. After 4 years and more than $8,000 in repairs I'm done with Chrysler forever. My dealership and Chrysler corporate have been nothing short of terrible. I was set to put down a deposit on the new 300C Hemi, now Chrysler will never get another dime from me. After replacing the window motors, AC evaporator, transmission computer, starter motor, seat motors and numerous other parts I'm broke and broken-hearted. I did not abuse this car, in fact I followed every maintenance interval and had the dealer service it every time.
A Big Risk
I was not inclined to buy American but the exterior looks/style won me over. This car, just like most Chryslers, is a piece of junk. After 4 months of ownership i have invested over 3k into it (Enigne fans (2x), rotors, Front wheel barings!!!, multiple sensors, break pads) Ive invested so much that im reluctant to sell it. If Chrysler worked out the mechanical problems on this car, it would be a class leader and as far as i know they havent so BEWARE!!!
Really a great car
Chrysler did a good job when making this vehicle. No problems at all. Really good snow traction. very comfortable to ride in, and it drives smaller than it is. Huge back seat. Fuel consumption is about average for a V6. Interior design is great. Build quality is good, not great. But that's light years ahead of any Ford or GM product of the time could say. The materials used for interior construction is realy good in some parts, barly okay in others, but they are in spots you usually don't touch. I think most people who purchase this vehicle will be very pleased. It deserves its "car of the year" award for 1999.
Great Car
I love this car. Nearly 60,000 miles with virtually no problems. Excellent handling and performance. Solidly built. Great amenities.
BEWARE OF ELECTRICAL ISSUES!!! (but I'm going to miss it!)
I first bought this car at an auction at 195,000 miles and it was overheating and the lights were not working, cost me about $250 to fix. Later on, it kept randomly shutting down on me and ended up being the fuel sensor which cost me another $230. I got the car all checked out an drove it from Texas to New Hampshire up through Canada with NO PROBLEMS! Then a couple months after I got here, it shut down on me again, not to ever start back up...the guy now says that the problems are so extensive because of the electrical issues that even if I were to get them fixed it would just break down again in the future, BUYERS BEWARE!
300M
Great car, great looks, great performance, over 24mpg
Too Many Faulty Electronic Parts
Window operators failed until they replaced all four, driver door switch won't control passenger window, two key memory settings never stay set; side view mirrors move when gear shift moved into neutral; turning of ignition switch 1st time gets no starter response, usually reequires turning twice; Ignition switch replace once previously; car drives and handles good, 26-28 mpg gas mileage, arm rest are too far from body to be comfortable for a man 6'2" although this is wifes car. Road noise from tires is beyond excessive for a car that cost this much I don't care what their excuse is.
Great!
Have had very few problems, and now have 62K miles on it. Only problem so far is the speed sensor, it cost $161 to replace. I have read about the power window problem, have had no problem there, but can hardly wait my turn! Car has a great trunk, back seat room, handles great for a large car, pep is exceptional. It has an annoying problem with road noise. While it is a fixable problem Chrysler choses not to worry about it. (The road/wind noise was MUCH worse on my 1993 LTS, if you can imagine that!) Maybe by my next one.....they will have committed to the wind/road noise thing.
More Power Points
I bought the first one in Wisconsin and still love it. Best car I have ever owned!
Best Car I Have Ever Owned
I liked my 300M so much that I let my son drive it to college and I went out and bought another. It is the best car I have ever owned. I find it fun to drive, extremely comfortable for a 270 pound 6 foot 4 inch fellow, with still plenty of legroom for others in the back seat. I would recommend it to any and all.
My 1999 300
I love my 300m, but the dealor can't seem to fix those lovely squeeks or electrical problems.. It took them almost three years and two diffrent dealors to fix the drivers seat.
An Awesome Driving Machine
I just love my Chrysler 300 M. It combines great looks with great handling and performance. Of the two Chrysler products (the other was an LHS) that i have owned during the 90's, the 300 M is truly the better machine. I have had absolutely no problems with either vehicle. Would I ever buy another 300 M? Only if I ever wear out the one I already have.
Repairs, repairs, repairs.....
We purchased our 1999 300M about 11 months ago. It had 35,000 miles on it. Since then, the following repairs have occurred: door lock motor (twice), window mechanism, warped rotor, cracked evaporator coil, spindle bearings and now a broken transmission seal.
300M - Stylish, Fast
I bought the car because it comes loaded with features automatically - hate to keep adding features. The power for highway situations is outstanding! Interior is comfortable and spacious. Trunk opening is a bit small, but long, small diameter cargo can easily fit with back seats folded down - just don't try to put a TV in its box in there, it won't work! Fuel economy has averaged 24.5 MPG for 40,000 calculated miles - pretty darn good! I highly recommend this car!
91,000 miles in 45 months.
A great "road car" for both highway and country driving. Fun to drive with adequate power. Only problems were electrical & transmission. Both were taken care of twice under extended warranty. Great car for the money.
300M
Nice vehicle that handles well and looks sharp. Fuel economy could be better but safety is also a concern
Great Until.....
I had the car die on me twice in the first year and a half. Something to do with the main computer and the transmission. Covered under warrenty and I was good to go. Lot's of compliments received since I got it. I am currently at 86,000 miles and the last six months has been one problem after another. Power stearing had to be replaced. Evaporator on the air conditioning had to be replaced. Just in the last few weeks the car died again. No warning lights, just lost power and died. Turned out there was a major malfunction in the engine due to low oil pressure and had to replace engine.
Problems, Problems, Problems
I purchased this car in February of '99, and have had the starter replaced, A/C Fan replaced (2X), Engine Cooling Fan replaced, drivers side window motor......although it is fun to drive and is very roomy for a person of my height (6'3"), Chrysler has to work out the problems that I have been seeing in these reviews!
Love this car
I've enjoyed this car for a long time now. Handling is good, decent power, great comfort. Interior is very tastefully done. I've had pretty good luck on reliability as well. There is no doubt that I would buy this all over again.
Chevy man goes Chrysler!!!!
Never owned anything but a Chevy for the last 30 years. The looks of the car caught me untill I drove it. The combination of the looks and performanse made me get out the check book. Down side: Road noise!!!!! No major problems. Had to replace two speakers, on in door and one in dash. Also had problems with windows motors. Both windows on the drivers side. Will I purchase another 300M. You can count on it. It really is a rush to drive!!! I use it for stess relief and Therapy. Please, get rid of the road noise, it can be done, none of my chevy had any.
Impressive
It doesn't get any better than this, especially for an American made car. I have owned a variety of cars over my 36 year driving career, including Toyota, BMW,Honda and many other American (GM, Ford)cars and have never been more pleased with the power, driveability, style and comfort. My only complaint is the road noise on concrete pavement. Great car for a very fair price.
Satisfied Owner
Overall, am happy with this vehicle. It is easy to drive, performs well, and looks good. Things that bother me after 4 years with this vehicle include some of the materials used in the interior - some of the plastic around the window/lock switches and around the gear selector seems to be sticky, no matter what you use to clean them, so you get a dirty look in those areas. Also, I have a problem with half of the rear seat leather in that it is getting scaly feeling, even though I have the windows tinted and keep the vehicle inside most of the time. It is only the upper portion of one seat, so I don't think it's related to maintenance on my part.
Best American design
I mostly agree how you rate this car, but I believe having driven several of the competition cars, that it is better than most, interior quality and definetely better looking. Especially compared to the boring Japanese makes. Reliability is exellent, after 95000 mls, only oil and wear parts. Besides a sensor on the electronic auto transmission, (warranty) where the car was driveable but stayed in 2nd gear,(E- program) I had no problems. The gas mileage is better than on a 2002 Passat V6 and with quite more bang. Unable to find an European edition at the time my only critic is it could brake better.
problems already..
We just bought this car for our middle child.. Not alot of driving but daily use expected. Before purchasing i put this car through its paces; drove it hard, had it scoped twice then checked phyisically. No neg codes presentend but not all registered codes were recieved. Some kind of block in the link. Definite red flag! The car ran well and never showed complications. Once we got the car home the window in the rear stuck open. The interior lights above/front did not work anymore. Now none of the windows work fulltime and the marker lighting on the shift lever goes off/on. I would not recommend this car to anyone based on the electrical issues encountered in such a short period of time owned.
1 HOT CAR
My '99 300M has almost 70,000 miles on it, and has been the most reliable car I have ever owned. Just had to change the original tires, and have needed brakes only once, at about 60000 miles. Only problems I have had (which were both covered under the extended warranty were the drivers side heated seat needed to be replaced because the heat stopped working, and I had the power steering box replaced. Other than that...nothing! I think that is exceptional after 70,000 miles. I would defintely buy another one!
Quality control
I have had nothing but trouble the last six months with the doors on the car. They don't shut, you have to slam them to get them to close. I have had the moldings replaced, then the door pannels on two of the doors. Last time I was in the door panel came from the factory incorrectly made so I am driving around with a terrible wind noise. Took the car to get it washed and got soaked as the water leaked in the door. Got out of the car and shut the door and the window fell out. Also, bad design regarding visibility. Can't see when you are backing up. Off to a Toyota dealer.
300M
Choice of this loaded used car or a new Intrepid with limited toys... Had an intrepid.. loved it, but wanted something a little more plush. Glad i did. Have had no problems other than a dashboard crack, which was fixed under recall and a window motor went. That cost me 150 bucks. But car is solid after 65000 miles and looks great.
Best Car I have ever owned
I have owned BMW's and Many Nissan cars and this is the best large high performance vehicle available today.
Worst Car I've Owned
Worst car I've ever owned. I've had it 9 months and it's been in the shop for major repairs 5 times (towed three of those times). I'll never buy another one.
Buy one for yourself
This is the first Chrysler that we have owned. I have enjoyed the car and it is very fun to drive. Handling is terrific and it will accelerate with the best of any brand. I really like the styling and it is a good compromise between four doors and performance.
Diva's Divine 300M
What a suprise ...an American car with NO issues after over 4 years. Just gas, oil every 7,000 miles and some new tires last year. Great ride, great looks, great handeling and great reliability...plys every feature you could want.
1999 Chrysler 300M Deep Slate
Purchased vehicle with 27k on it. Rotors had to be replaced immediately. Also had complete failure of power steering pump, which was replaced by dealer. More recently, the driver's window regulator failed. I paid for that out-of-pocket.
An excellent car for the money
I have wanted one ever since I saw the unveiling in 1998. In 2004 I was finally able to purchase one. The car was everything I expected. The overall performance is quite good for a V6 powered car of its size. As a daily driver, I cannot think of any other car that could be better except for a new hemi 300. My only gripe has been having to repair the AC (an expensive procedure), and various sensors going bad over the years). The car has only left me stranded once when the battery died. I feel that most of the problems with these cars comes down to lack of maintenance, either by the current owner or the previous owners. Take care of the car and it will take care of you.
Loving My 300 M
I LOVE my 300M! I was a Lincoln fan but found the '99 Lincoln Continental with not enough head room for me. As a tall and large person, I find my 300M to be very comfortable. It's a sleek, good looking car and the sound system is awesome. My only complaints are the discoloration of my steering wheel and the cracking of the leather in the driver side seat. I plan to drive it for at least 300,000 miles.
Bang for you Buck!!
I love my 300m. It is really fun to drive, and the motor-awesome V8 power from a V6. I had a trans am before this and this car is just as fun to drive. Although there is a fair amount of wind noise, the new 300m's have changed the brand of tires. Minor build quality problems, but other than that it has been 100% reliable. Definately buy another one!! Can't wait until the 300n!!!!
Chrysler 300M
I love this car. However, there are a few things that I wish I could change. 1.) More Torque and Horsepower. 2.) Cupholders in the back. That's it! Other than that it's a great car to drive and I haven't yet had a problem.
Inbetween
Very comfortable and nice looking car. Have been through several tires due to the rims on the car. Almost weekly have a flat tire. The car is great if your not driving in snow, then it is awful. Locks also make a loud sound, they still work but is a screeching sound. Power windows get stuck occasionally.
Always Problems
I have had the car for 10 years and although I only have 65,000 miles, I wish I could find a way to get rid of it. This has been one of the best performing cars I have owned but there is always something wrong with it. About 4 years my A/C went and the cost is approximate $2,000 which is what the car is worth. Most of the interior lights don't work, head light switch need to be changed annually, window motors, transmission sensors and the list goes on. Car is only good for the 4 miles I drive daily to the train station.
Chrysler's Flagship?
The car was everything I wanted except reliable. At 76900 miles and 3 years of ownership I am disappointed in this car's reliability. Under warranty a) Driver's side window motor replaced 3 times. b)Remaining three window motors replaced twice for same reason. c) Speed sensor for the transmission replaced twice for failure. Out of warranty repairs: a)Speed sensor for transmission 3rd time. Lasted 30,000 miles this time. So not covered by Dealership standard 1 year or 12,000 mile warranty. b)fuel pump module due to failure. Did you know that it cost $300 just for this device. Labor and tax extra.

300 M great car for the price
This car is big inside. My parents were able to sit comfortably in the back with a car seat in the middle. The styling is still eye catching. Outside of a few minor electrical bugs in the beginning this car has been great. Chysler took care of everything and stood behind their product even when the dealer was giving us a big run around. The chysler customer service puts you first not their dealer, nice for a change.
First Chrysler
Great looking vehicle, gets plenty of nods. I was filling up at a gas station and had someone pull in just to tell me they loved the car. Reliability and strange qwerks are a concern
I own two of them
This is the only car in my life that I bought a second one of. Both are 1999 models and I bought them both used from original owners about 5 years apart. The most comfortable driving car I have ever owned by far. The same problems in both such as speed sensors going bad at the front of the transmission. Between the two cars I have replaced 4 of them. Over all I would call them very reliable. As of 10-09 one has 199,000 miles on it (and still going strong) and the other has 88,000 miles on it. A very stylish car. When I take cross country trips or any trips where I drive more than an hour I ALWAYS turn on the heated front seats. You would be amazed at how much better your back feels.
the best
the only thing wrong with this car is the cheap goodyear tires that came with it. They are noisy as can be. Replace them and the road noise goes away. I have 45000+ miles and only oil changes!
LOVING MY 300M
THIS IS A FUN CAR TO DRIVE. IT HAS ALL THE WHISTLE AND BELLS! THE 300M HAS COMFORT, STYLE, AND GREAT HANDLING.IT HAS LOTS OF ROOM, FRONT SEAT OR BACK. THE TRUNK IS LARGE ENOUGH FOR THE LONGEST OF TRIPS! THIS CAR HAS CLASS!!
300M after 3 years
OK, so I'm ashamed to admit it but, I leased this car, and proceeded to put 70,000 miles on it in 3 years. The car has been in the shop twice, once for front stableizer, once for a speed sensor. Neither was a major deal, and I was told both are a common problem. Two issues with build quality: driver side door doesn't seal 100% so some wind noise, and engine makes tappit when first starting. Otherwise a very nice car, comfortable, stylish, poweful, and for the most part reliable.
