Still a Great Little SUV -- Three Year Update

This little crossover/SUV continues to be the best, easiest to drive, most comfortable subcompact vehicle I've ever owned and driven. Entry and exit are easy and visibility from the driver seat is superior. Rearview camera which activates on shifting to reverse is quick to activate, and offers a good look behind before and while backing. Seats are chair height comparing favorably to any SUV on the road today. Not sure why some reviewers have knocked the acceleration of the 1.4 litre turbo or the 6 speed auto transmission. I cannot find fault with either one, unless of course, I had just driven a $75,000 BMW and expected that kind of power and response from a Trax costing a third as much.... It is a compact car with a small motor and should be treated as such, especially when heavily loaded with several passengers and their gear. Could use a bit more power for merging acceleration on short interstate highway ramps. Storage areas are numerous but small; lack of a passenger center armrest, or a shared center armrest/console is a definite oversight. It should be there, or at least available as an option!! I enjoy driving the Trax... and so does my wife (it's Her daily driver)... definitely not a sports car, but handles well at reasonable speeds; the AWD is seamless, and inspires confidence in winter snow. Never had a better car, and have owned some great ones. I'm a car guy who has owned over 40, driven the rest... I continue impressed with the little package GM put together. Long distance drivers should give consideration to the sometimes nervous, unsettled handling inherent in a taller, short wheelbase crossover during windy interstate highway conditions (my only serious gripe so far) This little vehicle has been great for our purposes from day one until we traded for 2018 Chevrolet Equinox after three full years, and my opinion of the Trax did not change Personally, we like many others drivers, could do without the touchscreen radio and all the tech bells and whistles - Ultimately distracting and not a good tool to use while driving at speed or in town - is there any situation where taking eyes and mind off the road would be a good idea? I think not ever. Chevy Trax?? Takes a little getting used to, but would buy another one with almost no reservation. (As soon as they put a center console between the front seats!)

I've been on the lookout for a small Suv for yrs. I gravitated towards a Buick Encore by my Trax LT AWD has the look and comfort for less. It's remarkably quiet and the interior plastics look durable and are nice. I can't believe how smoothly this small suv drives. The Bose stereo system with a spare tire mounted Subwoofer sounds strong and the car has been used on a few road trips (5 hrs plus on the road) and the drive is not fatiguing. The leatherette and cloth seats in the LT are ideal, very comfortable/breathable for the summer heat. See the USA in A Chevrolet! Great job Chevrolet! Update! I've had my Trax since April (it's now Dec) and Its still a joy to drive and own. It's very fuel efficient and I can get around 29 mpg on the highway. My Trax is very quiet compared to other small SUVs I've ridden in. The driving height is ideal and I still think this doesn't feel underpowered. I always cringe when I see magazines harp about the horsepower. Drive ANY small SUV in higher elevations and you'll know what I mean. The Trax doesn't loose power and can really move quickly. I'd buy it again if I had to do it all over.

Short people beware

Just recently purchased the vehicle, so can't say a whole lot about it at this point. But the one thing I have noticed is the liftgate is not made for short people. I am only 5'1" and to close the lift I have to jump up to reach it. I am an elderly person and that is hard for me to do. Have almost fallen a couple of times. GM need's to modify that with a pull down strap that is easily accessible. Checked with the dealership to see what could possibly be done to correct the problem and they did have a suggestion as to how to fix it, but it requires drilling a hole in the lift and my husband isn't comfortable that not knowing what he may drill into. And of course the service department "might" do it for a charge. The only other thing I have noticed to date is the rear seat head rest block's part of the view when looking through the rear view mirror. Not good if you are traveling the interstate or 4 lane highway. Other than that, I really like the vehicle. Well worth the cost.

Cutest Small SUV on the Road!

After a devastating car accident in February 2017, I was looking for something safe with good sight lines that would not cause a concussion when getting in and out of the car. Went to explore several options when I came upon my 2015 Chevy Trax Lt. Easy to get in and out of without banging your head, plenty of head room, excellent sight lines out the side and back windows. The car did not have that dark, closed in feeling that I experienced when test driving other similar vehicles costing more than the Trax. Been driving it for a few weeks now and I LOVE IT! I feel safe, it gets me to where I have to go and I am loving the Entertainment equipment this car comes with. If you are looking for a smaller SUV, consider test driving the Trax. It does not disappoint.

Impressed

I was definitely scared about the size of this engine not being able to pass cars or go over mountain passes very well. I'm very impressed with how well this little car does! I did about 75-80 mph over the mountains and got 31 mpg with no struggle. Also, living in Spokane, WA I was anxious to try out the awd. It's awesome! I have owned an awd Mercedes and can't say that it was any better than the Trax. The only complaints are that a movie can't be played while driving (for passengers) and I struggled with getting my phone to bluetooth. The last complaint is when downshifting for engine braking, it doesn't hold speed. But, I have to say for the price this car is amazing.
