Update 4/22/23. I traded in my traverse December. Still nothing was wrong with it except I had 175000 miles on it. Whatever car I have is our travel everywhere car and my kids are grown now so I wanted something with less miles and smaller. Never had any regrets for buying the traverse. If I still needed 3 rows, I would buy another one!! Hope the new owner gets tons more miles on it. Update 10/18/22 still loving it. Almost 180,000 and thank goodness, no problems. Just normal wear and tear. Still highly recommend!! Update 11/20/21 still a great vehicle. Almost 160,000 miles and no problems! My biggest expense has been tires but not such a bad thing. That just means I've been able to get in and go!! Update 5/18/21. Still not complaints. Everything working as it should. Now have 136,000 mike's on it. Update 9/18/20. Still no complaints. Over 120,000 miles on it. Runs great! When my daughter turns 16 she says she wants my car. I will be buying another Traverse!! Update 3/14/2020. Still no complaints. Over 100,000 miles now!! Knock on wood-still not a single problem!!! Update 3/6/19. Still no complaints. Over 80,000 miles now on it and not a single problem!!! Update 9/6/18. Still no complaints. Have 67,000 miles on it and not one problem. That's a lot of miles given the standard is 15,000 per year but I didn't buy it to just sit in the driveway. I plan on keeping it for a long time and will probably buy another one when it's time. Great vehicle. Oh and just to know how much our family likes this car , my 13 year old wants it when she turns 16. I bet we'll still have it! Update:. As of 3/5/18. I still love my Traverse. I have put about 25,000 miles on it in the first year!. Great driver on trips. Love the heated seats. Everything is still great with the exception of what I said earlier about trim on interior around seat controls and seats not reclining enough. My kids are comfortable when traveling. They live that they can plug in their headphones and listen to something different than I am. Sound system is great. Will most likely buy another one when I have wore this one out!! Update : as of 9/2/17 i still love my traverse. I would say the only flaw in the design is the middle seats dont recline very far. Not comfortable for long trips, the head rests on the front seats slide forward to easily, and the trim work on the drivers seat that goes around the seat controls breaks too easily. My extended warranty i purchased does not cover the trim work.. Overall, still love it. Love my 2016 Chevy Traverse. My kids love the middle seats and being able to control their music and ac or heat. I love that I can listen to what I want and they can use their headphones and listen to something different. Plenty of legroom in middle and third row seats. Comfortable ride. Great adjustable lumbar support for driver. Love how the seats fold down. Probably more sqare footage in a minivan with all the seats down or removed, but no complaints here. There is really nothing negative I can say about this car. Bought it with only 24,000 miles so it is basically a brand new car for me. Glad to be out of the minivan without giving up my cargo space. Given the safety ratings on the Dodge Caravan has been rated poor while the safety ratings for the traverse are rated good, I will probably never go back to a minivan. I am hoping that once I reach 100,000 miles, I'll still feel the same!

2016 Traverse Transmission Problems

My 2016 Traverse (base model fwd) had a blown transmission at 43K miles. I am very disappointed in the reliability of the drive train system. We purchased the car used with only 22k on it. Fortunately the repairs were covered by the GM 5 year, 60,000 mile power train warranty. The dealer did give us a loaner vehicle while the Traverse was in the shop for two weeks. A common problem with these vehicles is the defective wave plate in the transmission. If you search the internet you will see that the GM 6 speed automatic transmission has a history of wave plate failure. If you find yourself with only first gear working and no reverse, that indicates the 2-5 wave plate is defective. I don't think I will ever purchase a Chevrolet ever again! Update: Even after the rebuild, the transmission occasionally bucks or shudders on acceleration, but, due to Covid 19 Pandemic, I haven't been driving it much. I may have to take it back to the dealership again if the problem persists! Hopefully it is just a programming issue and not an internal problem.

Roomy, Rides/Drives well, Safety concerens

After much research and price comparison we bought our 2016 Traverse in March of 2016. It rides very well and has room for all 5 of the Grandkids. Plenty of rear storage and enough USB ports throughout the vehicle to charge/plug in phones, gamming devices or I ipads. However I do have 3 safety concerns that I have brought to the dealers attention. 1) The head rest & door frames create blind spots. 2) The heard rest does not lock in place. While driving, it can be pushed forward by someone in the back seat. 3) The temp controls for back/rear row "heat up". They are actually Hot to touch if they are on a different setting than the front temperature controls.(The Chevy dealership was already aware of these issues when I took my Traverse in for its 1st oil change.)

We Regret Our Decision to Buy

We are usually a Toyota Family but my husband decided to step out and try the Traverse. The Highlader was a little pricier but boy do we regret not getting one. The 2nd and 3rd row have very limited room in Traverse. The ride is uncomfortable and the kids do not like traveling in it. The check engine light comes on all the time. We've had it 3 years with only 45k miles and this should not be happening. It is all warranty work but we have to pay over $100 for diagnostics every time we take it in. 3 times this year so far. Ridiculous! The gas mileage was inaccurate and GM had to send us a credit card to compensate. It drinks a lot of gas. We did like the crash safety ratings in the IIHS website. I would say shop around more and look at other options like the Toyota Highlander or the Honda Pilot. It will last longer and won't need to be taken in for anything other than regular maintenance until at least 200k miles. My mom went with the 2015 Highlander. It has over 150k miles and still drives like a dream with zero issues. Worth the price difference. The Traverse does not hold its value and we can't trade it anywhere!!
