Stupid rear Trunk was useless, I had removed !
REAR cargo area was terrible ! I have an electric scooter..with the rear "trunk" it is too high. (My 2015 didn't have the trunk, so I never noticed until after I bought this one) All the groceries roll downhill toward the back door..when you open it everything rolls out onto the driveway!! SO, I found a local guy that does custom car interiors. I showed him a video of a guy on the internet with step-by-step instructions to remove the 3rd seat and the trunk (held in with 2 plasic wingnuts). I hired him to take OUT the rear storage "trunk" and the 3rd seat and install a carpeted board so the floor is flat! Looks nice and the groceries stay IN the truck till we remove them and my Scooter clears the ceiling like my old suburban! I saw the review By Labrador on 12/10/2017 above..he didn't have to buy a smaller dog crate IF he is willing to remove the stupid trunk! I don't know WHY they did this when most Suburban owners want Cargo area for hauling stuff. stupid idea.

Disappointed
Compared to my 2014, I don't like the fact that you can't remove the 3rd row seats to gain extra cargo room. My dog kennel had to be replaced with one 3 inches shorter and does not sit level. The rear bumper slopes downward so no longer serves as a handy shelf when loading or unloading. Minor inconveniences but the kind of details that would keep me from owning my 5th.

Worst vehicle I've ever owned
Problem after problem , Gm not willing to help with a vehicle that was at the time 2 model years old . A/C issues at less then 60k , Injector issues from 60k forward mis-fire codes , known issue that would not fix.... Oil pan leak they refuse to fix and quote 2300. to fix at 65k. and lastly 94k miles Transmission Blows up lost 3rd -6th,refuse to assist with this , 6000. to fix ,. At this point we have had the vehicle 28 months still owed close to 50k on a 0.0% loan , Traded it in for a Toyota and take a 24k Negative hit on the suburban but also relieved that the problem vehicle is gone ,and the stress about what would go next is also. Would not Recommend Chevrolet to anyone ,even my enemies ,Customer care is horrible .

Tested a 2017, got a CPO 2016 instead
I found this CPO 2016 Suburban LT to be an excellent option, because prices for newer models are almost doubled. The 2016 Suburban LT handles like a big car, not like a truck. Although, there's a need to practice right turns and parking, because of its length. It takes a lot of gas and $$ to fill up the tank, but this machine compensates by providing the driver with hundreds of miles on the highways without a fillup.

I bought a 2017 Suburban Lemon
In November of 2018, I traded in my Hyundai Santa Fe, which I loved, for a 2017 Chevrolet Suburban for more room. The Suburban is a beautiful Charcoal Gray and seemed to be the perfect vehicle. I have had to take it back constantly for issues. The rear left seatbelt would not unlock tightened so tight on my 16 year old son that it cut his skin/stomach as he was trying to get it off him. I had to get my knife and cut him out of it because my husband and I could not free him. Scary! I had to take it back constantly for noises it was making. Rattling noises in the rear hatch door, pieces broken and rolling around in the door. Dealer Had to order new parts. Loud tornado noises which they said the tires the dealer had on them when I bought it were the wrong tires and were for off road terrain and not for highway that were causing the noise. I had to buy new tires; $1000 plus dollars. Noises rattling in driver door. Took it back 5 times for this noise before they ordered a new parts. Noises under the dash board sounded like a howling windstorm and a bird chirping squeaking sound in the engine under the hood. They said the fixed the seal in the windshield and ordered another part to fix and stop the noise. They said it was fixed $$800 the dealer split the cost because I had taken the vehicle in since I bought it for these issues they said they could not find. So I started recording the noises with my video on my phone. The same day I took it back because the bird chirping sounds were still there. It took them 2 days to find out and tell me the engine is bad and they are ordering parts to rebuild. I am in a rental now for more than 2 weeks and looking at 2 weeks more until the finish. My $200 business briefcase rolled slid out of the sloping trunk when I opened the rear door and broke. My plastic containers that I keep my insurance plans slid out and broke. This vehicle has more problems, too many to name! This is my 2nd Suburban. We had a 2009 that we absolutely loved. I am ready to turn it back in to them.
Best traveling vehicle on the road
This is my 4th Suburban in the last 11 years. I trade every 3 years. There is no better vehicle for long distance traveling. The comfort is superb and you can haul about anything. I used to be a pickup man, until I got a ride in my friends Suburban. The fact that you can cover everything and lock it up on long trips is great for peace of mind. Plus you can access things in the back from the 2nd door instead of crawling over the pickup bed with a topper is a big plus. I'd never go back to a pickup. My lab also likes to be inside much better when we go hunting! You can comfortably cruise for hundreds of miles in a day in this rig.

Improved Fuel economy is a big plus!
My 4th Suburban in the last 10 years. I trade about every 3 years. I have the LT Signature edition. We took a 2800 mile trip to the Smoky Mtns in Nov. '17 and averaged 20.1 mpg! That includes a lot of mountain and curve driving and I was very pleased. The freeway driving was at 75 mph. That's about a 2.5 mpg increase over the '14 that I traded in with 55,000 mi with absolutely no problems. I have the cocoa/dune interior and I think that it is very classy and attractive. The only problem I have with the new style Suburban is the sloping rear floor. Twice we have had items roll out the back when the door was opened. One was a glass grocery jar that broke on the asphalt. I'm hoping that they address this issue on the next version. The ride is wonderful and this vehicle is made to take long trips. Jan. 21. Still have the '17 Suburban. Didn't drive as much in 2020 because of the China virus. Decided to keep it for another year as we only have 42,500 miles on it. Had 1 problem in the past year which is really the only real problem I've had going back 12 years and 4 different Suburbans. The electric button on the tailgate ceased to operate so that it wouldn't lift. Had to replace the cable which cost $500 with labor. Otherwise it's been a wonderful vehicle, but now I see that the '21 has the level rear floor, so I'll be looking at one of those next fall. Jan. 22. Still have the '17 Suburban and have had no problems in the past year. I ordered a new '21, but because of supply issues, it looks like I'm getting a '22. I now have 56,000 mi. on it and I couldn't believe the trade in value I received on the '17.

2017 Suburban premier 4x4 with tow package
Comfortable, quiet and a smooth drive. Averaged 23 mpg at 75 mph (no headwind). 3rd row is really for kids but we did hall adults 6 hours back there. Would be nice to have a jump seat in the 2nd row with a few more cup holders. Milage in town is doing good but drops when setting at the light. Storage is useful and plentifully. Traded a 2017 impala in on this with no regrets, of course we had a suburban since 1999.

comfort and smooth ride
Have had a Chevrolet Tahoe for many years , moved to the suburban due to inability to find a Tahoe. Love it. The extra space from Tahoe to Suburban is exactly what we need moving kids to and from college. We have the premium package with DVD and navigation very happy with everything.

Awesome vehicle/brakes malfunctions /trans/Etc
The suv was top of the line as far as features and performance. I had the z71 premium package. The issues are transmission goes out around 100 plus miles.and the brakes malfunctions when trying to park and was recalled but happen again and chevy refused to reprogram for free. Very dangerous. My anti collision system failed twice and I backed into an object twice causing insurancent to go up even though equipment failure. GMC needs to fix there issues and stop failing the customers.

Problem Suburban
First, the Suburban is a very practical, comfortable and enjoyable large SUV to drive. It gets 19-20 mpg on the highway when averaging 70 mph per the trip computer. Now the issues with just under 100,000 miles: Both front hub bears failed; front sensors do not work; dash shorted out; display failed; side warning system failed; front struts leaked and transmission failed. The vehicle was purchased as a Certified Preowned with 40,000 miles on it in 2019.
