Still a great truck
I bought used with 114,000 miles. Only major repair was the transmission replaced at no cost (previous owner had replaced it shortly before.) I drive it about 12,000 miles/year and it's very cheap to drive. I fix a few things on it each year, but it's much cheaper than my other cars (used Hondas which I finally gave up on.) Gas mileage is about 14 mpg which is great considering it's mostly around town. Still get 17-18 mpg on long trips, even with 199,000 miles on it, and it runs great. I'm 6'5" tall and can stretch my legs fully out while driving. It's like driving my couch. Finally with a 43 gallon tank, the range is incredible. My best is 720 miles on one tank (Jacksonville, FL to northern VA)
From Mini Van Hell to Suburban Heaven
The Voyager died with 2 payments left on it. We needed a bus to cart around our 5 children. The trendy friends were aghast. Everyone said we had lost our marbles. This is the greatest vehicle! Inside is bigger than a studio apartment and kids can't touch each other. There's tons of room for bikes, groceries, tools, lumber, you name it. It chews up the highway, gets better mileage than my new Ram 1500 V6. Goes anywhere! 4x4 so I'll never have to worry about the "S" word again! It's heavy and safe. It's so comfortable, we nicknamed it the "Big Comfy Couch". Its bright red paint gets us confused for a fire vehicle! The best $2800 I've ever spent. Let the Yuppies sneer, we'll eat their Rendevous!

baddest burban in florida!!
love my 93 burban 4wd it does everything ive asked it to! from hauling my 5 kids around to hauling my boat! we loaded it down from tampa to greensborugh,nc on vacation and only burned 350.00 for gas last year at 3.45 gallon never been happier with my chevy! longest lasting most dependable truck on the road! even after the end of the world according to chevrolet commecial well, if thats the case i'll be in mine, lol
Sturdy Truck w/some probs
This is a sturdy truck. The problems I have had are often cooling system related. The entire system has been redone twice in 3-years, including three times for the rear heater core. (Consumer Reports notes the cooling system as problem area for the 1993's.) Also, fuel mileage with the 454 ranges from 9-12, averaging 10 mpg. Finally, the engine does not perform as one might expect a from 454. I will try to upgrade the exhaust to help it breath. Worthless trade-in value for the Cheyanne model, but otherwise a good ranch truck.
Eva's review
Our 93 Suburban has 198,000 miles we had no major breakdowns or problems with it. It still runs like the day we got it more than 10 years ago. At that time there was no rear heat or A/C so it gets somewhat cold back there, but everything else is just great. Very dependable SUV. I do not fly in planes so we have traveled for many hours to Canada, Texas, Florida and other states. This model is also heavier than the newer ones which makes it safer. Everytime we go to dealer to buy a new one we change our minds because of the way the older one is build. Solid, Reliable.
Still running strong at 265,000 miles
I bought this Suburban (my third) four years ago with 164,000 miles on it. It was cheap. And it now has 265,000 miles and I have used it and abused it. The engine and trans are the original and have not been rebuilt. I pull a boat and a car hauling trailer. Have had usual maintainance such as brakes, starter, alternator, water pump. The interior is still excellent and the paint is still shiny and attractive. Just returned from an 1800 miles vacation trip and averaged over 19 mpg.
Great truck!
I purchased this 1992 C1500 HD Suburban in 2000, and have been impressed with the longevity that Chevrolet has built into this model. I have put over 100,000 miles on it in less than 4 years, and have done regular maintenance on it myself. I replaced the alternator three times, and finally went with a lifetime warranty on the latest one. I also had the transmission replaced at 136,000, but that was because of my bad driving habits (towing a loaded trailer up and down hills in O/D)...
Our own personal Limo
Since Day 1 this truck has been joy to drive. It eats road miles with NO problems at all. Around town isn't super but for a heavy vehicle it's very OK. We like it so much my wife has refused a New Suburban!
I love my like new '92
I found this immaculate all original garage kept suburban with underbody and inner panels all rust proofed I purchased from older gentleman who claimed he never drove it in the rain. I use this vehicle for road trips .I refreshed all fluids and replaced every out dated part.I'd drive it anywhere and have already.I treat this vehicle with love!!And turned down $12000.00 for its resale! I will keep this for as long as I can ,they are just not made this good anymore. Note... after 1994 GM downgraded its interiors quality on these vehicles interior .so this is rare and I love it.
outstanding vehicle
The 1992 Chevy Suburban has been the most reliable vehicles that I have ever owned. I bought it used with 111,000 miles on it. It has alot of room for my four kids. outside of the basic componits failing; water pump, starter, alt; the engine and transmision has never been broke into. Prices for parts are relatively cheap and easy to install.
Clear
We bought our Suburban new in 1993. We still love it dearly. It is an awesome car, the bad thing is it gets 12mpg city.
The best car in the world
This vehicle runs strong at 162,000 miles. Had to replace the power steering about 30,000 miles ago and recently had to replace it again but the mechanic was a crook. GM designed a magnificent car when they made the 1993 Chevy Suburban.
Love my 'burban
Brougth it 2 years ago. It has a 454ci. Best truck I've ever had. Strong. We get lots of snow in the winter. This is by far the safest truck I've ever had. Wish every one of my friends would have one
Suburban
I purchased the Suburban almost a year ago and have not had a single problem out of the vehicle. The guy I purchased it from worked for a GM dealership and was the original owner of the truck. He had the engine and transmission and transfer case replaced at 45000 miles under factory warranty due to anoverheating problem. The engine and drive train now only have 55000 miles on them and perform perfectly. I use the vehicle to take my family around and also to pull my ski boat. The only flaw on the vehicle is the fuel mileage but you do not purchase a vehicle like this to get gas mileage.
i like it
very reliable. i put 220000miles but still running great. very comfortable. long road trip is easier with this. handle very well on off-roads and snow. i lived in Colorado for 2 years with this truck. i was very suprised when i took it for off-roading... there was no limit for this suburban. i had to drive through snowy pass every weekend for snowboarding... very safe.
Best vehicle I ever had
Lots of room, and a beautiful exterior. It's great for any kind of weather. An all around great car. I totally regret not getting one any sooner.
more gm garbage
major components breaking down and requiring repair constantly, expensive to work on and expensive parts, never buy without an extended warranty, a good mechanic and more patience than i have i am buying toyota or honda next
Wolf
The Chevy Suburban is the best vehicle that I have driven of all vehicles that I had had. My next Subburban will be my 4th one and will continue to buy a suburban unless I happen to try something new which is highly unlikely at this point in time.
188,000 and doing well
I love this truck! It had 42,000 miles when I bought it in 1995. It has served my family well with many weekend trips and week-long vacations. Plenty of room to spread out and for luggage. It's a good work truck too. Carrying full sheets of drywall is no problem. It uses about .5 quart of oil between changes every 3000-4000 miles. Maintenance is below average. AC has been recharged twice and is currently on it's third summer since the last and blowing very cold. Shocks were replaced at 120000 and rides/handles great. This Suburban is a smooth cruiser at 65.
Great Truck
Bought in 2001 from original owner with 118K miles. Put in new transmission at 156K, and other minor usual maintenance items. Engine still runs strong. Hauls all of our stuff on vacations, and decent gas mileage for a large SUV. Usual GM fit/finish issues when it come to the cheap plastics and door panels. Otherwise, its been a great truck. Will eventually replace with something similar.
Great Suburban
We have now put over 218,000 miles on our Suburban - without any major repairs. The engine and transmission have required only routine service. I have been diligent about changing fluids, including oil at 3,000 to 4,000 miles. We live at the 8,000 foot elevation level of the Colorado Rockies and the vehicle is unbeatable in snow. Thank you Chevy for a great vehicle!
Best Large SUV Made!
Bought my Suburban as a salvage title and put a new front clip on it and been loving it ever since! Added an LT1 roller cam and Edelbrock intake to milk some extra fuel eco out of it and it is just great. Gets 18+ mpg on the highway, its nice and cozy, and there is tons of room. I recently had to replace the catalytic converter as it has 180,000 miles on it by my choice as it is not required and also added a Flowmaster muffler. The 350 runs great with stock TBI and 4L60E trans which I installed a TransGo Shift Kit. It has most of the orig paint and has very little rust. Engine is all original but the trans was done before I got it. My main problem is a water leak by the tailgate. A++
want some, get some
best truck on the road. Won't trade it for anything, except a new one
My Suburban
Great vehicle for many uses. Great for 9 passengers. Great for my construction work as it will haul full sheets of plywood, and sheetrock as well as 8' lumber. The Suburban with its black windows protects my tools from people who used to steal my tools from my previously owned pickup.
King of the road
Great on the highway.loves to be off road... Very dependable in the snow...Good towing,Have Paint Contracting buisness pull a trailer 10'Loaded with gear, can hardly tell it's there! Off road in the winter hunting No problems!
1993 Suburban
Great truck, has over 140,000 miles. Only problems: rebuild trans at 112,000 and intake manifold gasget at 115,000. Still running strong at 16.6 mpg highway, 14 mpg city.
Gotta love a big SUV
i absolutly love my Suburban! It has handled everything I could throw at it from mudding (its a 2wd) to looking cool at the local burger joint! When I first got my 'Burb, I was wanting to get a Chevy C1500 extended cab truck, but after an hour of driving my Suburban, I was so glad I didn't!
Ford Man No More
I have always had Ford Bronco's but this truck is great. I have 4 kids and there is a ton of room. Snow, what snow? The truck is great. Tow anything and don't even feel it.
I love my 'Burban!
Awesome truck! Best vehicle that i have ever owned. Purchased in '04 with about 225K. 265K miles and still going strong. Have had cooling issues though...radiator, heater core, etc. This truck is a tank and i love it. The only thing I would trade it for is a newer one. With K&N filter and flowmaster exhaust, i get 20mpg on the highway! Thats a Chevrolet for you!

Favorite Hand-Me-Down
Got my license and wasn't looking forward to driving "the beast". After about 3 weeks, it grew on me. It's been the greatest truck ever! Gas stinks, but its got a 42 gal tank, fill it on Sunday, drive for miles.Took it mudding (2WD) and it did just fine. A slight pain in the snow, but once you get used to it, sandbags aren't even needed. Performance is solid, but I could use 15-20 more horses and lb-ft each. Having front and mid bench is awesome, and having the back open is even better. Rides great on long trips so well I've gone to pick up friends 150 miles away at school just to drive it long distance. Overall I'd glad I was given it, and have no plans to get rid of it anytime soon, even with 160k on it!
