worktruck
Recently purchased a 2004 Silverado worktruck package. I use it for outside sales. Comfortable to drive. Im averaging 23 mpg which I consider good for a full size truck. The v-6 has good performance and great acceleration from 3 gear through 5.First seems to be geared a little low for avewrage driving. second is wound out at 40mph. Interior is roomy and instruments and controls are always at hand. Its quite a bit better than the dodge dakota I traded.
Still going
I have owned my Chevy since 2005 and have only had to replace normal wear parts like brakes, alternator and water pump.

What you need.....a good basic truck!
I bought this truck used with 41K miles on it. I was looking for a small truck but at the price and what shape it was in I could not pass it up. I bought this when the gas spiked up so I got it for $7,000. The V6 is a little under powered but gets you moving. I commute 30 miles everyday to work and I have gotten it to average 20, not bad. I have had zero problems with it. I would say if you need a truck for weekend work and want something comfortable, easy to drive, then a basic 1500 is what you should look for.
Gold for my Silverado
Great truck. Made when u.s. auto makers realized Japan and Germany were taking over and making them look out of date and needing to make a statement and quality vehicles again. My truck has been awesome.

forward sprague gear failed at 54000mi,replaced transmision,$2280 cost.manufacturer refused financial assistance.this trans is too light for the vehichleit is in.GM has been aware of this for years and continues to use it.
Poorly built truck
I have had this truck in the the shop 11 times. All for warranty issues. The service department has been excellant but the dealership has been awful to deal with.I suggest going to another company for a vechicle. Chevy hit there all time low on this one
Junk Lemon
111 miles took to dealer.Vehicle shakes in seat,no power, hard to stop, hard to get in 1st gear, hard to get out of 5th gear, truck whines when accelerating in 1st gear, rough idle, clicking noise from engine atidle, shift light comes on all the time,if you shifted by light you would be going 35mph in 5th gear, driveline clunks when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear.Dealer states nothing wrong with truck.DRIVES LIKE NEW.
Excellent Puchace
The Silverado Work Truck is an ideal purchase for a working man who wants a truck that he can use for a reasonable price. The manual transmission, vinyl flooring and seats, long bed, and 4WD are ideal features, and in the WT package you can purchase this at an excellent price. This is my second truck like this in 4 years and I couldn't be any happier. My last truck was the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned and I put it through many situations in the woods and on the highway. I would drive the same truck even if I was a millionare.
fuzzys new ride,2004 SILVERADO
the truck, siverado, ls. rides very well, & feels very solid, & holds the road with excellent traction & maneuverability. the stereo radio with cd sounds great. the engine performance is great,285 hp, for the 4.8 v8, transmission shifts very well, i like the heated rear window & outside, side mirrors, the tilt wheel seems to function very good, the back seat gives good support to the lumbar & lower back, 16" chrome-plated steel wheels with goodyear wranglers. excellent truck for the price, about 26000$ on my first tank of reg. gas, i averaged about 15 mpg, during break-in period, as of right now i have about 400 miles on it, i'm a retired auto worker,
great vehicle
this is the best vehicle in existance
Like A Rock
I live in the country and don't have repair shops every other block but, since I've had my Silverado I don't need to visit them anyway. As long as I keep the oil and other fluids clean and at the right levels I keep trucking on.
2 DOOR REG.CAB 5.3 WT,I PICK IT UP MON.
WELL I HAVE HAD THIS ONE FOR A WEEK NOW SO I,CAN'T SAY MUCH,I SAID THAT I'D NEVER BUY ANOTHER TEN YEARS AGO HAD A LOT OF PROBLEM'S WITH THE V6 BURNING OIL.THIS TIME I OPT FOR THE 5.3 V8,I REALY LIKED THE TRUCK BACK THAN AND STILL DO [LIKE CHEVY TRUCK'S] SO I,JUST PRAY THIS ONE DOS'NT BURN OIL FOR A LONG TIME.
best veh I have ever had
Very quiet on the road like driving a luxury car. Interior quality is great. Moved my daughter from michigan to florida last summer. Rented a U-haul tandam trailer in fla and pulled up and back. Veh pulled trailer like nothing behind and I averaged 18.3 mpg and didn't baby the veh.
The Best Vehicle Ever
After having to take Chrysler Corp/Daimler- whatever to court for the LemonLaw on a $40000 piece of garbage- The Chevy is better than the 2002 Cadillac Deville I traded as well as the 2 Hondas or 3 Acuras or 3 Cadillacs I have had in 8 years. It is reliable comfortable and holds anything I can put in it. Buy One now.
V-8 Five Speed Fun Run
Great Ride, Yes, you can get a V-8 with a 5-speed in a short bed regular cab truck, with incentives, out the door for around 18K. The truck runs excellent. Sensitive when cold. The AC is comparable to a meat locker! Handles awesome. Needs bigger shoes in back.
04 Work truck
Stylish, easy interior controls, decent sound system for stock.
silverado 4.3L 4x4
this thing will offroad with the best of em. It is beyond quiet at highway speed and more comfortable than I would think a truck could ever be. I don't even have bucket, leather, heated or electric seats. It rides smooth and easy to drive x-country. It's a manual and still easy in city driving or open road. The payload on this thing is unbelievable, my wife had to go down to north carolina while I was in the middle east and picked up alot of my personel gear, completely filling up the back end. She told me she didn't even feel like there was anything in the back end, the truck gets worked and has never even had a hiccup. I could not ask for a more dependable truck.
Great Truck!
I have over 70,000 miles on this truck and it has never seen the inside of a shop for repairs. Routine maintenance is all that's require. Replaced the factory tires with Michelin ltx when they wore out and that has improved the ride and wet traction considerably.
I love my first truck
I bought my first truck after having driven cars all my life, and its the best thing I have ever done. This truck drives more like a car than any truck I have ever been in. The gas milage is good for a truck, considering I am used to a 4 cylinder. But the power, the smoothness of the ride, and the overall styling of the truck make an eye catching upgrade to your day to day driving.
get the 5.3 v8
I got the 04 2dr regular cab silverado 1500 with a plow/tow package 5.3 v8. It was my first truck. I used it for plowing this year and it performed awsome. I suggest getting the 5.3 v8 it has alot of balls. The 4.8 v8 is a dog, so spend the extra cash and you won't be sorry. The miles per gallons suck but it's worth the power. If you're gonna plow, get the hevy duty 2500 beacuse the suspension is better. The truck feels like a car when you're driving it. But since i'm a chevy fan don't take my advice.
One weird Chevy
We had bought this truck as a replacement for the car we had. We live in the mountains of Colorado and had a few problems with the factory tires and ice. We changed them out for snow tires or all weather tires and have not had an issue since. The real weirdness started when cyl #1 was acting up. I was on my way back to the dealership with a full load driving across country and I was getting nearly 35MPG with a half functioning piston! The dealer stated that the piston had shattered (after much waiting for warrenty work) and was to be replaced. Since then the truck has gone back to its 21MPG and worked fine! Other than powertrain problems I haven't had any other issues and rate it high.
Lil Red Truck
My Silverado is sporty and fun to drive. My truck had a bad rear diferential at 9000 miles however it was totally fixed good as new. I still like the truck very much after 3 years of ownership. I hunt and fish and the Silverado gets me to the country in style.
good power
the 2004 chevy v-6 has really good power and the truck looks really great
chevy silverado 2004
performance is great but truck is too slow for the v6 4.3 vortec has no torque
2 DOOR REG.CAB 5.3 WT,I PICK IT UP MON.
THE DEALER LET ME BRING IT HOME OVERNITE,AND I LOVED IT,HAD TAKE SOME ABUSE FROM MY WIFE SENCE WE HAD A NISSAN TRUCK THAT WAS ONLY 6MO'S OLD.TOOK A BIG LOST BUT I THINK WE WILL BE HAPPIER WITH THE CHVEY [I HOPE ].
not just about looks
i have a 2003 regular cab stepside z71 5.3 p/u ,1st off i love the truck ,crap for milage ,but everything else is all good ,i got the arrival blue ,somebody was saying they dont offer the 1500 reg with leather ,they are wrong ,they do ive seen them ,southern comfort offers them and so does chevy mine has it and the reg cab is an option ,pretty loaded for a p/u id say,why cant we have a rear split window
Best truck I have ever owned
great truck only problem has been air bag switch went bad,, they fixed it in about 15 mins and other than that it is a great truck and a super ride.
My 4.8
Can not say enough about this truck. Averaged 20 mpg for mix driving and 24 hwy. Disappointed that I had to trade it in for my 2006 GTO.
1500 W/T
Great truck thats fun to drive and enough horsepower to muscle out of most anything. Even the work truck interior is better than most competitor midrange models.
broken
rearend went out at 4775 miles! need I say more?
1500 Silverado WT
Great vehicle to drive. Packs muscle under the hood unlike other similar pickups. Very smooth ride on and off- road. Large interior. Great cargo space.
Great Truck, Best for the money!!!
4.8 V8 is tough, just as good as the 5.3 minus the extra torque. I test drove the V6 and found it to be poor. Wish I had a back cab at times, but the tonneau cover does fine when i strap things in. Bought this truck used with 20K on it. Haven't done much to it except air and oil filters/oil. The previous owner installed performance exhaust which roars and gives extra HP. I put on 17" 2007 avalanche wheels and 265 70 R A/T tires. Put on rear air lift suspension (airbags) and have been hauling anything from dirt, rock, stone, furniture, appliances, and tow a 5250lb boat/trailer. Its a half ton but with the bags i can easily load 1750 as i have scaled it at landscape vehicle scale.
I Love my Truck
Good truck so far will see
2004 silveradoZ714wd
wonderful truck power .ride .style etc
My last truck
I love puck ups. I had a 1992 Silverado that has been a great truck. My 92 had 120,000 miles on it and is still running strong. I purchased my 2004 silverado as my 3rd family vehicle. It runs great, I hope to keep it for a long time.
Willow's truck
This truck rides so smooth! Hardly any road noise. Easy to handle. Accelerates nicely! (must watch speed!) Headlight highbeams--excellent! Window cranks a little hard however, hopefully after some use, it will get easier to crank. Doors a little hard to shut, must use some power to close them. We just bought the truck brand new recently, so, I'm sure it just needs 'broke in' a bit!
Awesome BLack Chevy
Awesome looking truck and very powerful. Looks awesome black with the chrome package.
Chevy the best running ever
They chevy truck is dependable as well as a joy to have to take of road. If i had to have any truck i would only own a chevy. Chevy's like a rock.
First review
Sportside good looking.I have had many trucks, Chevys, fords, jeeps and dodge. I think the assembly quality has gone way down. Mostly interior fit is bad from the side window post to the driver door trim is not good. Outside front wheel whell is 1 inch different from right side. Splash covers are not the same. Center cup holder is a pain where it is.
work truck
Nice ride/drive and comfortable FOR a big truck. Easy to get around and work with. Parking not bad for a truck. Gas mileage to power ratio very disapionting. I would have gone with the V8 if I had known the gas miles would be so bad anyway. Overall though I feel like it is a lot of truck for the money.
Never had any Chevy before
The best truck I have owned. A very comfortable ride even on long drives. My wife likes the ride better then her 2002 Altima, now it's always "Mind if I use the truck today?" Great power-5.3L V8. Gas Mileage is adequate for the motor size. I put a tonneau cover on, gas mileage improved about 4 mpg. Interior is a little noisy, road noise, sounds like a door or window is open a little, when they are not. Doors have a tendency to not close fully unless slammed. I put covers on the seats right away though, the cloth in a truck is going to take a beating. The color: Silver-Birch with the factory chrome wheels is awesome. Literaly bought this one off the showroom floor.
Good Truce
This is a great truck..I am over 6ft tall and for a standard cab it has more room than Toyota.
silverado
I'm sory but I'm not sure what Edmunds reviewers were thinking about! If your in the market for a well built truck, consider the Silverado's good looks, standard features, resale history and actual selling price. In my opinion when one considers rebates, dealer incentives and quality of this truck how can you not love it?
Work truck
I bought the basic truck no options and got a great rebate of 4000 off sticker.
the best
i love my truck i don't have any regrets for buying it. i would reccomended.
Chevy Silverado - Great Truck
Extremely satisfied with my truck. The I have receommended both the vehicle and dealership to many of my friends. I can't say I think to highly of Edmunds rating system though as the price you show is quite a bit higher than what was on the sticker.
1500 V6 Silverado
Got this basic truck 3 weeks ago and love it. Especially price considered: Sticker was $18,590. Drove of the lot 4K below, $14,590. Seems to be a good truck for the money. No complaints so far. 16.7 MPG after 500 miles on the clock. Drives well, tight and smooth...Good seats for this old taxi/truck driver. Very happy with the deal and the truck.
don't buy this truck
VARY uncomfortable seats!!!! rough riding, comes from the factory dented,or bad painting, dealer does not check before they except there delivery, rips you off on e.s.p. drivers door misalined, noise in transmission.
