My Chevy
5.3 litre engine is good balance for normal driving conditions and towing light trailer. (under 3500 lbs gross weight) Almost rides like a passenger carD

1500 LT
A high quality vehicle, superior ride and comfort. The XM radio and Bose sound system make it a joy to drive. Leather seats are very comfortable.
2003LS v 2004LT
The complete front seat & compartment s/u on the 2003 model was 100% better, including lighting, ashtray, drink holders, etc. Also, front seat was NOT 100% 'bucket'[Much better I think] 2003 had 3 DC Sockets; 2004~~two only.
top notch reliability
This truck has been as reliabile as they come. Had this truck for over a year know, not a lick of trouble. Electronic 4wd drive has work well. Been at dealer for normal service only. Hey I'm tring to beat it up but I can't. Cabin feels to confining. need help here. Has to be the low point of this truck.
nice truck
2004 Chev 1500 Ext cab 5.3 V8 Z71 I've only had the truck for three weeks so my review will be very limited. Over all the truck has a nice ride and good amount of power. The only problem so far Ive had is the back window doesn't seal properly and makes wind noises but im sure it can easily be fixed. Its the little things in this truck that make the difference, like controls on the wheel for the radio, tinted and heated mirrors, block heater etc...
jd reviews
excellent power, very pleasing ride
Trudk
Great truck. No auto track buzz out of floor slight on 4 wheel stick and fan noise out of headliner, probably from dash. Will take to dealer for these, but these are the only ones. Great in the snow, pavement, dirt, and ice. I live up high in the mountains and it is always reliable.
ford sucks
The Z71 is not only rliable it has power, fun, and everything you want in a good chevorlet pickup
Outstanding Ride by Abolds
I am so pleased with my Chevy Silverado! The extended cab has so much room to operate. I also love the XM radio and ONSTAR. After taking it for a long ride on the highway, I learned how comfortable it really is. It maneuvers like a car. The bed is more than adequate to load up and transport items. The 5.3L engine is very powerful and and very little noise and the transmission shifts very smoothly.
THE BEST EYT
This is my second Z71, both were good, but this is this best. I have everything but the leather seats and with the way I play, I didn't want it. Performance is A1, sound system A1, dual heating/air A1, can't say enough about the way the whole truck is setup. Best yet in my book!! Had one of the first ford F150 three dr's and it couldn't come close to this truck. Need to pass, see ya in my dust!!
Silverado 1500
Comfortable, reliable and solid construction. This is the first vehicle I have ever owned that did not have a rattle or squeak somewhere at sometime. I am 65 years old and have owned a lot of vehicles in my life and the is at the top of my list as far as quality, comfort and performance. I purchased a 1966 442 with a 3.90 and 4 speed muncie in November of 1965 which I still own today. The 5.3 Silverado is the closest thing I have owned in performance to that excellent old 442. I do not care about the overhead cams, 3 and 4 valves per cylinder, etc. I love my Chevrolet Silverado.
Cadillac ride at a Chevy price
This vehicle rides like a luxury car. Very eye catcher. With all the fetures that came with this vehicle it will cost me a furtune if I wanted them on a Ford,Dodge,Nissan and defenetelly Toyota
Truck with Class
My Silverado is loaded on the inside from heated leather seats and XM Satellite radio to dark tinted windows and fog lights. The features available on this truck were great. I haven't had a single problem with the engine, brakes, or transmission after 20K miles and I don't plan to. Runs well, comfortable to drive and it just straight up looks good.
I like it
Traded in my 2001 Silverado for a 2004 Z71 with the 5.3 engine. Getting 17 MPG and very happy with the truck. Haven't had a problem and hope things stay that way.
CHEVY 1500 Z71/4WD SB 5.3 LT (8)
THE TRUCK OVERALL IS A VERY GOOD PERFORMER. I TEST DROVE THE FORD,DODGE AND TOYOTA AND I JUST FELT THE CHEVY WAS AN OVERALL BETTER PACKAGE. THE SEATS ARE VERY COMFORTABLE BUT IF YOU GET LEATHER MAKE SURE THEY ARE HEATED. ON THE VERY COLD DAYS THE SEAT REMAINED COLD A GOOD 25-35 MINS INTO THE TRIP. MILEAGE IS WHAT YOU WOULD EXPECT FROM A FULL SIZE V-8 TRUCK
Silverado is great!
I have owned Ford, last year bought a new ext. cab Silverado and it has been great. I fit two preteens, a baby and my wife (five of us) and despite people saying there would not be enough room, there is plenty. The cool instrumentation is neat and the way the mirrors go down when you go backwards. Tough dependable Chevy truck.
My Chevy
This truck is so much more reliable than anything I've driven before, which include 2 Ford Rangers, a Ford Expedition, and a Toyota pickup. I haven't had one single problem or issue with it. It needs to be serviced every 3000 miles, but once I went 8,000 miles without an oil change (oops) but it can handle it. On occasion the brakes make noise but I'm not the most conservative driver and I haven't had new breaks installed since I bought it. One time I noticed something was squeaking on the inside cabin, again, this will happen with pretty much every truck, depending on how and where you drive it. Don't use this thing to commute, although it can handle it, it only gets 15-16 mpg on streets
Great Ride
Has been a great experience driving this 4X4 Truck. THe suspension and handling have been superb. The 5.3L engine provides plenty of passing power on the road. I've been getting about 18mi/gallon. I'm 6'6" and what I really enjoy about the interior is the leg and head room. It was made for us large Americans. Try it you'll like it.
Silverado Z71
Better than expected gas mileage; seems to be geared just a bit low, however it is the Z71; excellent handling and braking; fun to drive.
Great truck for light duty or no duty
The V8 4.8 engine is great for all family needs. Great acceleration even with a packed cabin of up to 6 adults or a loaded bed. Engine response is suprisingly nice at street or highway speeds. The ride quality is smooth for a truck as long as you're not expecting sedan-like results; you ain't going to get it! Interior door panels are loose and brake and gas pedals have rusted only after 1 month of purchasing (same on my dad's 04 Sierra). Carpeting feels loose when vacuuming as if it is only held down at the ends. If some of these minor details don't get you down, this truck is by far the best deal for the money.
my truck
Very easy to drive.
Fun Fantasy
I have always wanted to own a truck. Now that I'm retired, I finally have one and I love it. I use it to pull a pop-up camper that I used to pull with my wife's Trailblazer. Although the Trailblazer did good, the Silverado is excellent! You don't even know it's there. The only problem I have is my wife wants to drive it all the time (her Trailblazer is an '02 LTZ with all the goodies)! The mileage is not great but is better than I expected, even when pulling the pop-up. If the cost of repairs matches the Trailblazer, I will be happy.
Best truck around
This truck is an absolute pleasure to drive, especially with the quadrasteer feature. It turns and handles like a sportscar.
REAL HAPPY SO FAR
LETS SEE I LIKE A LOT ABOUT THIS TRUCK I GOT RED WITH OUT THE FENDER FLAIRS IT LOOKS GREAT ALSO THE ALUM. WHEELS CLEAN UP EASY AND LOOK GREAT IT'S GOT GREAT POWER IN THE 5.3 VORTC ENGINE I LIKE THE RAIDO AND OTHER CONTROLS ON THE STEERING WHEEL THE CUP HOLDERS ARE EASY TO GET AND AND ARE NOT IN THE WAY THE REAR DOORS ARE EASY TO OPEN AND MAKE IT REAL EASY TO GET IN THE BACK SEAT
Hidious Bench Seats
The 40/20/40 style bench seat is ungodly uncomfortable. If I had to do it again, I would take GM up on the 24 hour test ride. If I would have done this, I might have considered a different truck.
Silverado 1500 LS short bed 5.3L V8
It's actually a shortbed, but no option to select. Powerful drivetrain, solid body, awsome ride, great options make the Silverado a pickup my choice. Test drove Dodge(awful tranny), Ford (not bad, but just didn't like the ride).
Great truck, but no XM.
Very comfortable to drive, I use the truck for towing either my boat or my camper. We recently went to Michigan towing the camper, other than Chicago traffic, the truck was great!!
Ex-Car Owner 2 New Silverado Owner
I bought this truck because of its long history of comfort, features, reliability, and (quite frankly) the new body design. I love it! Sticker was $27,700 paid $25 before GM rebate. Good truck.
USA #1
Very powerful with a smooth ride excellent stereo with convenient features, folding power heated mirrors are great, stock goodyears very good in snow and ice. Friends say it rides like a cadillac
LS extended 4 door Silverado 2wd
V 6 Ext cab 4dr truck. I bought it with 12 miles on it. Forget an SUV, the cab can sit 6 people, 5 comfortable. Road Trips Hwy fuel = 24 mpg and city = 19 mpg. Steering is tight not lose. Hwy driving is smooth. Body is tight, no excessive noise when driving. Only needed oil changes, no repairs in 15 months owned truck. AM/FM/CD radio sounds great. Can converse with others at normal tones. Has 2 outlets for plugging in phones, etc. Roomy glove box and center arm rest/console has lots of space. We do volunteer work for haunted house in Neosho Rapids,KS and this truck has hauled us down a muddy lane back and forth with no trouble at all.
My Truck
For the frist time in a long yime I will be at home trying to think of some place to go so I can drive my truck.
Smooth, strong and efficient
5.3 litre runs with anything on the highway, and on open road have gotten 20 mpg I'm not a tire smoker, but at 35mph...hang on! There is no other p/u that cruises as effortlessly or efficiently at highway speeds as this with the 3.42 gears.
My Giant Cadillac!!
I named my title that way because those were the words I had said described to the feel and the comfort as my husband and I first took one out for a test- drive. The suspension is smooth and the response in the handling is amazing as I've never driven a pickup truck in my life!! If I found it easy to drive than any woman can drive this thing!! The first 2003-04 Silverado wasn't a Z71 package like the one we ended up buying, but what a thrill to drive in any Silverado!! We love it and we're both glad we've done our homework before settling on driving a Chevy truck!! Now I'm looking to buy my own Chevy trunk in the very near future for my own thrills!
Great Ride
It's a good truck. I tested out the 4wd numerous times and it has pulled me out of sticky situations. Could have more power , but I'm also used to my other truck though. No noises or anything. Pulls trailers like they're not even there. Kids fit great in the back seat. Doesn't turn on a dime though. But for the most part, I love it.
my review
This is the best truck ever
Great Truck
Overall very happy. Mileage was better than expected, equal the the Ranger 4.0 pig it replaced. Ride and interior comfort outstanding. Exterior looks leave something to be desired though. Plenty of power from the 5.3 V8, tranny shifts like a dream. I would buy it again.
# 1 truck
I love my truck. The silverado is the most reliable truck on the market hands down. There is nothing on my truck i wouldn't replace or change. I have added some minor things like a billet grill but thats about it.
Fianl Decision!!!!!
After testing every truck in this cat., I finally got the LT 2wd. Surpasses all the others in comfort, power, ride, solid feel. I hope the Lim. slip and traction assist work almost as good as 4wd. with weight in the bed. Fingers crossed...everything else so far is great..
Disappointed with GM
Have taken two extended trips and average 17mpg. Engine performance is acceptable, except to pull any grades must keep in trailering mode to keep trans from downshifting and over- reving. Have 12000 miles now and at 5000 developed clunk in the trans/driveline that is getting worse. GM says "normal" and refuses to fix. Cab roof is flimsy--buckles if windows rolled down at 60mph.
Love it so far!
I have been driving a Tahoe for the past 5 years, and have been an SUV guy for quite some time. I decided to try a pickup so bought a new 2004 Z71 and I love it. The overall ride is very close to my old Tahoe but the performace is much better. I'm very happy with my decision to buy this truck.
One Great Truck
I narrowed my search to the Chevrolet Silverado and Nissan Titan. I chose the Chevrolet because of added standard features the Chevy had over the Titan...engine performance isn't everything Nissan (that's what their dealers want you to believe). Bought this as a family hauler and weekend worker. It has lived up to all its expectations to this point. Love this truck!!!
CHEY P/U EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS
ALTHOUGH I HAVE ONLY OWNED THIS VEHICLE ONE WEEK, i FIND IT IS A PLEASURE TO DRIVE. THE COLOR IS SPORT METALLIC RED. EVERYWHERE I GO I RECEIVE COMPLIMENTS ON THE COLOR, STYLE, LOOKS, ETC. THE RADIO/SOUND SYSTEM IS SUPERB! SO FAR THE TRUCK HAS MET OR EXCEEDED THIS WRITER'S EXPECTATIONS, FOR PERFORMANCE, HANDLING, MILAGE, ETC....ALSO THERE IS CONSIDERABLE LEG ROOM FOR BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS, BOTH IN THE FRONT AND REAR SEAT AREA. AS A RESULT SEVERAL FRIENDS ARE NOW CONSIDERING OR ARE IN THE PROCESS OF PURCHASING A SIMILAR CHEVY, OR GM PICK-UP TRUCK. THUS I FEEL THE PROOF IS THE PRODUCT---A USA PRODUCED AND MANUFACTURED TRUCK
My Dream Truck!
This truck is awesome! It is all I've ever wanted in a truck. My 4.8 has adequate power now that I have a K&N Cold Air Intake in combination with a Dual Flowmaster 40 series exhaust. The handling is great and at times I forget how big this vehicle is. This truck has been reliable with no major problems at all. Gas mileage is reasonably well, but like they say, "If I wanted MPG's I would have got a Honda!"
An Outstanding Performer
Anyone looking for a truck, and by truck I mean one that can go to the store, turn around and head out to the field, then come home to do chores. This is the perfect truck. A reliable and powerful Vortec engine and low sticker price make this the dark horse in the full size pick up industry. Anyone who buys a Ford before driving a Silverado has made a gastly mistake. The trucks price alone is incentive enough to take one home today. Not to mention the smooth ride and power. A truck at the head of its class.
Love my chevy
My chevy truck performs excellently I have had no problems with it. It gets great milage for a full size truck. I get 21 miles around town, I haven't gone any long distances yet. I have plenty of power to pull a trailer or boat with no problems at all. I love the lay out of the inside over the f-150 or the Dodge Ram. The chevy sits just the right height you don't have to climb into the truck like you do with the Dodge. The Chevy is more comfortable and has alot better ride than either the Ford f-150 or Dodge Ram.
2004 review
love the acceleration and reliability. Fuel economy is better than I thought too. One big problem is that the roof flexes when traveling at highway speeds. Also had noticeable wind noise from rear window that dealer had to fix. Wish the interior was more lively, like the white face Dodge dials or Ford's new interior.
Hot Truck
Has Low raties & Is on a good lote!!!...
vinces chevy truck
very comfortable,good exceleration.good brakes
I LOVE MY TRUCK ?
I purchased my chevy on base from owning previously a chevy truck A 2000 three quarter ton. My idea was good luck once, good luck twice and was not disappointed. Driving my truck i felt empowered good on the road and safe knowing i was driving a chevy and the way it drove. Problems minimal only wear and tare issues. It seemed when problems come it was never with the engine or transmission just suspension type issues. My truck has run for two lifetimes and was only made, type and model at the end of 2003 for issue on the floor for 2004!!. Mind you me that is something worth.
