sexy
My boyfriend bought this truck to use for himself- I urged him to b/c of the dead sexy look of any Chevy. I drive a little Hyundai for the fuel economy- but we have been having horrible windy, snowy weather lately. My man was able to get me out of a ditch in his baby when the 80mph wind and ice sent me spinning. And now I get to drive it whenever we have nasty weather 'cause it handles the ice and wind so well.

I really like the chevys this year. They look great and perform even better. Ride comfort is great.

I owned a 2001 regular cab silverado, but it did not have enough room, and it was under powered with the 6 cyl. I bought the 2002 extended cab Silverado with the biggest engine and it gets better gas mileage than the 6 cyl. The tires really make a lot of difference. With good tires, the truck drives great. With Goodyear tires, the truck is a safety hazard when it's wet. The worst thing about the interior is the drink holder in the middle of the seat. I would cut it off if I could find a good aftermarket drink holder to take its place. The 2001 Chevy has a better interior design.
Best Truck I Have Ever Owned
Absolutely the best truck I have ever owned. This is my 4th truck.I owned a 1996 Dodge Ram,1996 Chevy Cheyenne,2001 Ford F150 and now my 2002 Silverado. Its performance and sturdy reliability has turned me off to any other brand of truck. The ride is very smooth on and off road. The truck has great response to aftermarket intake, headers, and exaust. The interior looks great and is very comfortable as well as long lasting and easy to maintain. I was discouraged at the price of this truck at first because they are notably more expensive than Ford, Dodge, Toyota. But after about a week of driving I realized that You get what you pay for. Truck was worth every penny and more. Won't buy another brand ever
2002 Silverdado
My 2002 Silverado has been an outstanding truck. I just bought a 6000 LB trailer and it pulls it with ease, however rather slow on big hills and gas mileage is around 10 MPG but that was to be expected. My lease is now up and have decided to buy out the lease.
Love it!
I actually bought this truck used but was the first owner. The dealership used it for parts deliveries so it already had 56000 miles on it in 2002. I test drove several other used trucks with a lot less mileage but they felt ragged out. Before I got off the lot I knew I was going to buy this one. It was very smooth, quiet, did not have one rattle and felt as if it had 0 miles on it. This is the longest I have ever owned a vehicle because I usally get the the "itch" after 1.5 years. Not with this one. It has nearly 130000 miles on it and after some new tires and shocks, it feels brand new again. Still no rattles. Still gets 18-22 mpg on the highway.
Last chevy
This truck was trouble free until the transmission gave out. Traded it in three days later, new tranny and all since I refuse to own a vehicle that requires major work with only 51,000 easy miles. I also found the handling kind of loose although that may be typical of this large a vehicle. Otherwise the truck did well.
It's a Chevy and I love it!
Good ride on long trips, very comfortable. Set the cruise control and sail away! The only thing missing is "auto-pilot". Takes hills great. Lumbar support was a very good idea!
excellent
I purchased the vehicle in 2004 with 15,000 miles from original owner. I have had no problems with this vehicle. This vehicle is our first choice to use on long trips because of its comfortable ride. It's more like drive a luxury vehicle than what you typical expect from a truck ride.
2002 ls ext cab
I think the response of the engine has been quite good. Gas mileage has been surprising, the 4.3 got nearly 20 mpg in town, the new 5.3 gets 17.5 in town and close to 20 on the highway. This is conservative driving, with no load. Ride is somewhat less than expected, vibration is common, I think due to the tires originally supplied on the vehicle. (General 660's) Dealer replaced all four in the first 200 miles, and for the most part, that fixed the problem, however the vibration is returning. I will not get another General Tire. Comfort in the cab is great, radio, a/c all work well.
Love this truck
I've had no problems at all. This is my first Silverado and I couldn't be happier
Not for Cold Climates
It's ok I guess. Fuel line freezes regardless of amt. of gas in the tank. Gas anti-freeze doesn't even help. Limited slip rear end gets stubborn in cold weather.
electrical problems with chev truck
I have a 2000 1500 silverado Z71 fully loaded stepside I have had this truck back to the dealership 20 times for the same problem security light and service 4 wheel drive light comes on and stays on. dealership worked on this but took them over 1 year to fix don't bother calling GM they don't return calls
Silverado 1500 SB LT
This truck is beautiful. It's performance is outstanding. Acceleration is excellent. The LT package has beautiful leather and features. It handles like a sports car and rides unbelievably smooth.
great performance
We use our Silverado to pull livestock trailers. The performance has been outstanding. The tow/haul mode provides the power and smooth shifting we desire and the back seat room is much improved from the 95 K1500 we had. The 4WD kicks in immediately and is a pleasure in those tight spots.
Just what the boat ordered
Love this truck, traded in a 2000,4.3l GMC Seirra Reg Cab. Having same problem I had on GMC, drivers side mirror shake terribly at 30 mph or higher. I pull a 25oo lb boat with it, never notice its there.
John's work truck
No problems since I bought it.
Reliable
Never a malfunction of any components.
New 02 - Great 4x4 Ext Cab Truck
Drove Ford and Dodge, this truck absolutely blows them out of the water. Body is solid and all but sound proof. Pleasure to drive. Very good response even on the roughess of county roads. Plenty of power for quick starts. Gas mileage is 16 mpg combined city/highway. Keep your foot out of it and the average rises to 18 mpg combined.
Mr.
This turck is an overall good truck. It has plenty of room to fit my family of 6 with room to spare. Very quiet on the road and a smooth ride. The radio is great too. A real powerful towing truck for a half ton, i pull a 32' camping trailer that is well over 8000lbs and the truck handles it pretty well.
2002 Z71
Can't really fault anything on this truck. The thing that really stands out when you drive this truck is no road or wind noise, it's soild.
JonesN' for a Chevy
All I have been wanting for three years is an Ext. Cab Chevy 4x4. So I went out and spent more than I could afford, and man IT WAS WORTH IT. I enjoy everything about my truck except the gas mileage. I knew it would be low so I'm not disappointed. I really enjoy the ride comfort and the braking ability for a large vehicle. Nice Truck!
exceptional
Vehicle used as passenger vehicle not a truck. Has padded bed with cap covering. Forced to downsize. Sold 2017.

Nice Truck!
I bought my truck back in Sep 07 with 46,000 miles. I put over 1,000 miles on it the first 2 days I had it. I have the 4.8L V8 and it gets decent fuel efficency for a truck. I recently purchased a 05 Titan SE that blows this Silverado away with torque and power. I still think the Chevy is more comfortable and a nicer ride on trips, but lacks engine power and torque compared to a Titan.
BEWARE OF PISTON SLAP
good overall but, defective engines, the 4.8, 5.3, 6.0, and more have defective pistons. go to website, gm piston slap. on start up sound like diesel engine, the pistons are banging up against cylinder walls. gm service bulletin 01-06-01-028. gm knows the problem, they WILL NOT FIX, says banging pistons is normal. lease do not buy. research the problem before buying. REMEMBER, GM WILL NOT FIX YOUR DEFECTIVE ENGINE.
Sounds good on Paper,but...
Mine is equipped with the Z71 option. Very annoying hesitation while in slow driving (heavy traffic)when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear followed by a hard shudder, then it shifts. Been to the dealer 6 times, tried many things, including replacing the transmission, to no relief. When factory representative drove it, he decided that since this problem is in other vehicles there was nothing he could do about it(New standard?). Shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear the same happens but to a lesser degree.
Chevy's Are the Best
Great all around truck! Very smooth ride. Feels better than driving a car. Interior is comfortable. Awesome power. Everything a truck should be. A few adjustments need to be made though. Otherwise the best truck out there. I tow a boat and have a 5 point wiring hook up, this truck only has a 7 point hook-up. This requires me to buy an adapter. The rear a/c vent is a plus! I think a rear locking differential would have been better than limited slip.
Good stuff
Not into the overstyling of the Ford or Dodge. Like the Toyota but the Chevy had the biggest ext cab. Very impressed with the heated leather and the controls. Plenty of power with the 5.3 and I would worry about the tranny if it had more power. The limited slip comes with LT's but I wouldn't get any P/up without it. Too much power to the rear and it would be worthless in the rain. Awesome with the limited slip.
NOT AS GOOD AS IT SHOULD BE!
Numerous problems with transmission and fuel pumps. Not very reliable.
