I purchased a 2017 malibu new with 5 miles 12/2016. Check engine light came on a month and half later. Vehicle in the shop 15 times in a 16 month period. Repeat emission related issues, rumbling, vibrating noise, clunks and jerks upon deceleration, reduced engine power lights causing car to not accelerate and not shift out of 2nd gear. Oxygen senors replaced 3 times and received error code that they needed to be replaced a 4th time. Catalytic converter replaced, wire harness replaced twice, rear wheel bearing replaced and still had repeat issues. Chevy Malibu is unsafe and is a hazard to the driver and others on the road. On 3 occasions the reduced engine light illuminated and the car would not accelerate. There is no warning ahead of time. The last time this happened I was on the freeway. After repeat inconveniences of taking my car for repairs, time off work, time without a vehicle, being stranded roadside and put in unsafe conditions from lack of reliability and lack of resolution from the dealership and GM I turned my car in as a voluntary repo. I will never purchase another GM vehicle! It is by far the worst vehicle I have owned! It is unsafe and unreliable. I will not drive behind a Chevy Malibu on the freeway because I know at any moment their reduced engine power indicator may come on and cause their vehicle to substantially slow and not accelerate. DO NOT BUY A MALIBU

I bought my 2017 Malibu in February 2018 - brand new. Car drove well for a while I loved the space inside and the sleek look. I have taken great care of it because I commute an hour and half for work 5x a week - I need my car to always be in great shape. I have only taken it to Chevy for oil changes and maintenance. In 2019 I started getting a "Shift to Park" message after putting my car in park. The car's battery will not turn off until the car recognizes it is in park. This leaves me either sitting there until the message eventually goes way (could be a few seconds, or a few minutes), or turning my car back on and trying to put it back into park. I found waiting a minute or two before trying to turn off my engine helped prevent this issue from happening. But over time, this message kept popping up more often and I'm left siting there for about 10 minutes trying to figure out how to fix it. I've told Chevy about the problem 2 separate times when I went in for oil changes, they knew about the problem- it was clear they had dealt with it before and said they could fix it no problem. Both times, they said this, both times the message would appear again after a few days. The car is only 4 years old, it's only been driving around for 3 years, I'm not even to 60,000 miles and this problem now happens daily. I thought buying a new car would prevent me from having to trade in my car so soon. Now I owe more than the car is worth, but don't have a choice, I will have to trade it in soon before this problem is no longer manageable. I will never buy another GM car ever again.

There Is So Many Better Built Cars Out There!

When I turned in my car for some warranty work I was given this car from Hertz. I have got to be honest this is probably the worst car I have driven in awhile. The acceleration was lack luster to say the least. It's definitely not a car you would be excited to drive and look for a reason to drive it. It is also loud inside, you really hear a lot of road noise. Another issue, for some reason when I would make a call the ac blower would turn off. I am not sure if there is some issue with the computer or if there is some feature for that. If it was a feature, I would have turned it off but the touch screen is so over designed and complicated I could not find that setting. I drive a lot, especially on curvy, two lane roads and this car was not designed for that. I understand this car is a FWD car but a Ford Focus is way more fun to drive around corners and feels somewhat sporty. Although, the BIGGEST design flaw in this car is the start/stop engine. While most car manufacturers have a on/off button by the ignition button Chevy makes you have to put the shifter in L then press the + button six times. This is every time you put the car in drive! Disclaimer: The Wi-Fi feature that Chevy brags about is you must be near a home or business with Wi-Fi to connect. There are so many other cars out there, that are fun to drive and are designed conveniently for the driver. I would recommend this car to no one.

I bought this car after driving a rental version in Japan, Missouri for a couple days. Got a great deal. A very mediocre car tbh. The creature comforts are there and they are standard; however, compared to price, it's really good. I like a lot of them features that are on that car. I have a ford-f150 and a jeep wrangler. This is my daily driver. Good car.

I downsized from an Impala to a Malibu. Impala didn’t have all the bells & whistles. The Malibu was loaded & decked out with all the new technology. Just as roomy as the Impala. Great gas mileage, not uncommon oblong trips to get 40mpg. Sleek low setting car. 1 of the nations best top 20 reliable cars
