Stay away! Electronic nightmare!

I have a 2011 Malibu that I bought from CarMax in late October 2018. It runs great. It handles great. Very smooth ride. I enjoy driving it. But it is an ELECTRONIC NIGHTMARE! Both headlights went out by early January 2019. Replaced ALL front lights on April 18, 2019, for $336 because the front bumper must be removed. VERY poor design. I had to have the driver’s-side headlight replaced AGAIN on June 26, 2019. And tonight, July 10, 2019, the driver’s-side headlight is out AGAIN! This is four headlight replacements in nine months. Should people have to replace headlights every few months? Should repair shops have to replace warrantied parts every two months because Chevrolet is incompetent? Again, just to replace just two low-beam headlights is about $250 because of the bumper issue. And, the rear-window defrost doesn’t work, the outlets (cigarette lighters) don’t work, and now the first two fan settings for heat and AC don’t work. Biggest nightmare of a car EVER! UPDATE: Even though I have a local repair shop that now has done this work twice, Chevrolet refuses to do anything until I take the car to a Chevrolet dealership.

Solid vehicle, no major repairs in 7 years of ownership, mileage isn’t a plus, but excellent overall value otherwise.

Be sure to look around any buy the one you want, some Malibus from this generation have different features than others like remote start, sun roof, color options, etc. Be sure to shop around and buy what you want! This car is awesome on long highway trips! Very comfortable and great gas mileage!
