315,000 miles on the odometer-still runs good-transaxle makes a roaring noise which gets louder when turning left- still haven't changed rear brake pads yet-the front pads were change last year but had plenty of miles left on them-it's the way a drive that made them last-frequent oil changes and light on the gas pedal have been the key . gas mileage hasn't changed- I use fuel injector clean , and change air filters often- I live in Phoenix,AZ- it's never overheated- and I have never had any problems with any of the recall items for this car- it has some dents and dings - I'm happy. 2019-I have 335,000 miles on the car now still runs good. I replaced the radiator and still haven't replaced the rear brake pads.345,000 miles on it,still running good! 4/27/21 coming up on 350,000 miles miles ,stilll runing good! 355,000! 12/28/2022 361,000 miles still running , it's my to work and back car. I got the 2016 Impala Limited ltz 4yrs ago for weekends and trips,no problems so far.

Good but not great

I bought this car brand new in 2006 and have been pleased. I now have 125,000 miles on the car but not without complaints. I have had a check engine light for months because of valve on the top of the gas tank. $300 in labor to fix $10 part. I had to have gasket on oil filter mount replaced. $5 gasket, $140 labor! The electrical system is much to be desired. I got the premium BOSE system in the car but only certain speakers work at certain times. Mostly just rear speakers, sometimes just fronts, sometimes speakers on right side. As of this morning, the transmission started shifting hard. I am pretty worried after reading all the tranny reviews on here.

I purchased my '06 Impala last month after a week I noticed a leak under engine. I sent it back to auto dealer I bought the car, they replaced the oil gasket. The leak disappeared, cold days just around the corner I switched heater dial and a loud ticking noice annoys me which last for a minute or so. Besides any reviews I read here no problem with tranny or engine KNOCK ON WOOD! But, I love it for now... we'll see.

Disappointing

Purchased my new '06 Impala LT, glacier blue, new in late July '06. Now have 2100 miles on it. Performance of the 3.5L V6 is perfectly acceptable for my 60 mile round-trip daily commute. Gas mileage has been around 22mpg regardless of driving conditions and A/C use (nowhere near the 21/32 rating on the sticker...I expected to average around 24-25 overall). Exterior build quality excellent. Interior build quality poor. Numerous creaks/squeaks/rattles in the dash. Driver seatback creaks when you lean back or shift in the seat. Seat also creaks when going around turns or even just accelerating from a stop. OEM Goodyear tires are dangerous in the rain. I plan to trade in 2yrs.

Could be better but age has something to do with that.

Purchased a 2006 Impala in December of 2012 at 67,000 miles. Pulled the service history from Chevy and found no major issues in the vehicle's past. Someone ripped the connector off the rear window defrost so that needed to be re-attached. This Impala had the factory fluid in the transmission causing the delayed shift issue common to these. Managed to eliminate that with a few transmission flushes, additives, and filter changes. Had to replace the lower intake gaskets as the engine was leaking coolant internally. Somebody tried to fix that with a few bottles of stop leak so the coolant looked like mud. Head gaskets have some external oil leaks but I haven't replaced them yet.
