Replaced our Cadillac

2006 Chevrolet Impala LTZ 4dr Sedan (3.9L 6cyl 4A)

We wanted a good over-the-road vehicle with lots of storage, good ride, good mileage, good audio. (Our 1995 Caddy has 116K miles and wanted a newer car for the mountains and countryside.) Our new LTZ is a great car as our Caddy replacement on all counts! We got 29.4 mpg on our first trip, loaded to the gills. The ride is much improved from our '93 Impala. We looked at Honda and Toyota, as well as Buick, but the Impala was the best price performer out there. The fold down seats will be handy for runs to Lowes. We are happy to see GM make such a fine sedan. Our first Chevy was a '66 and GM seems to be regaining their form with the new Impala. And our import owning friends like it!

My 2nd Impala SS

2006 Chevrolet Impala SS 4dr Sedan (5.3L 8cyl 4A)

Just purchased an '06 SS Impala Blk on Blk. It's maiden trip was to upstate New Hampshire from Western Mass 5hrs each way. Previously owned a 96 SS. The power is outstanding but the front drive limits the ability to take advantage of the power. The plastic on the doors and dash is similar to my fiance's 01 Cavalier, in a word, it's cheep. Suspension is more like a Buick than my last SS. I did not feel comfortable on VT's RT 91 above 85mph due to curves. Heated leather seats are adequate, could use a bit more bolstering, but they are fine for me. Get the Bose stereo, I didn't and I regret it. No way the engine gets 28/18 hwy/city mileage, more like 22/13.

I have the 3.9L--LT Impala. It's a great car. Rather quick, very quiet and roomy. It can reach 28MPG HWY. Nice looking car and auto start comes standard.

I am very glad I bought the SS. It drives great. I have, however, noticed a fair amount of torque steer (basically, I have renamed the gas pedal the "lane changer"). I had a few minor issues with the computer that all boiled down to a bad gas cap; problem solved easily. The jury is still out on the tire pressure sensors. Interior is a kinda small for a full size, but it has all the room I need for myself, my wife (and her walker) the three kids and two hockey bags. I was very dissapointed with GM's little trick of wanting $650 to "activate" the radio (with a computer click) for XM recption which is already built in. I guess CDs it is. Fuel economy is better than expected. AVG 22.5.

This is my first Impala. I drive over 45,000 miles per year . I wanted better gas mileage over my previous vehicle. I don't quite know if this is the vehicle either . But I'm really impressed with everything else , the ride, power, interior . I have the black SS with completly tinted windows WOW. At 3500 miles I believe I can honestly say I get 24mpg on the highway and 18 in town . At this point I'm glad I made this purchase.
