We bought a used, loaded, lease return Equinox at 19k miles, with all but the turbo 2.0, and no diesel and leather. Was very happy to see it was possible to get factory heated drivers and passenger seats with cloth. We've owned leather seats on several cars, cloth feels better. I've heard a lot of complaints regarding the acceleration of this car with the smaller 1.5 engine. Maybe after driving company car CUV's for several years now, I'm just used to cars of this size with 4 cylinders. Because this car in my opinion, has more than ample acceleration. I drove a Ford Escape company vehicle for 4 years, and it easily equals that car. They recently put us in new 2018 Hyundai's, and the Equinox easily out performs the Hyundai in overall engine performance. I'm an old gear head that has had my share of high performance vehicles. I guess in my mind, I didn't buy this car for that. I got it for my wife. We drove the Escape, the Big three Asian models(I know they're built here now), the Equinox and Escape were clearly in our opinion, the more solidly built cars with real heft in the doors when opening and closing them, and a real solid traditional American car feel in the ride. In fact, when we drove it, we were stunned in how solid it felt, as if were chiseled out of granite. Mileage is a very pleasant surprise at 28.8 mpg overall. Although we didn't really shop for exterior looks, I am impressed with how nice the car looks in the driveway. Gotten several compliments at the store and gas station. So far the car has been very reliable. The factory six speaker stereo is surprisingly nice sounding for a base stereo, excellent sound separation, nice deep bass without the need for high volume. The rear passenger space was a very pleasant surprise. There's plenty of leg room back there. The 2009 Nissan Rogue we have, was severely lacking in that regard. I'll post a long term report when we get there. Oh, I almost forgot, even though the seats seem comfortable, and pretty much in line with other CUV's, I do agree that Chevy could make a longer bottom cushion, there's plenty of front interior space to do so.

Had the 18 since Feb 2018 12000 miles no problems with the car, lot of good comments about good looking car(crystal tint red). Been to San Antonio Tx and milage has been in the mid to high 30's Last trip to Phoenix Az. mid August, 5 people with luggage and a walker, luggage area was very full. The 5 people had a decient sitting for the trip. This trip from Grand Island, Ne. to Greeley Co to Phoenix, Mesa Az. back to Grand Island Ne. The car averaged 37.5 mile per gallon diesel. We are very pleased with our 2018 GMC Terrain Diesel

This is an excellent first time SUV but. The entertainment center is excellent, I wish the speakers had a little more power but I would have to have gotten the premier, I love my panoramic roof, I love my huge touch screen, heated seats work so well they even get a little of your lower lumbar. I also used to drive with back support, but I haven't needed to in this car. The safety features are awesome, for a little more money I could have gotten the 360 view. But the rear camera does a great job of seeing people on either side of the car. I highly recommend it.

The 1.5 gas is kind of rough shifting, not very peppy. The 2.0 gas is very nice, smooth and has good pickup, but I want better MsPG. The Diesel is slow from 0, but pretty lively after it's up into 30-40 MPH and very good for freeway maneuvers. I am concerned about long term reliability, and not in a hurry, so I'll wait and see a bit. No strong opinion on tech yet. Didn't drive at night.

Love mine, NOT made for cold weather

This is my second winter having my equinox. Last year my engine light came on & said “engine power reduced”. (-30C to -40c) Took it in and they said the intercooler freezes up. They ordered in a part that “fixes” it and gave me a grill cover. Never had a issue after that. Now this winter (only -15c) it happened again. I will be taking it in to see how they plan to fix it. Just doesn’t seem to be made for Canadian winters. I plan on getting a new vehicle in a few years. I don’t think I’d be too excited about keeping this as a long term vehicle because of the issues in the cold and the where I live. In warmer climates, you should be golden! In nice weather, I LOVE my equinox. I get good gas mileage, feels cozy, love the dash display/radio & technology (premier). I wish I would have got a 2.0L so it had more pep to it. The 1.5L is good, but it lags when speeding up. Update: brought it in yesterday. Got my vehicle back in the evening. This morning on the way to work the engine light came on again. It’s -30c. If I knew About the issues with it in the cold weather, I wouldn’t have purchased it. They shouldn’t sell a vehicle in cold climates when it can’t handle it. GM better do a recall to fix this soon!
