I bought a 12' equinox with 38k miles. Didn't even hit 58k and a bit snapped in the engine causing timing belt to jump cause engine failure. I was 2 weeks out of the power train warranty GM said. F-U. Did nothing 7k later we got a new engine. Ran fine for the 3 years it was under warranty. Now my fuel throttle sensor went and had dealership fix it $1k later it was still not right. Brought back dealership put in new fuel pump, apparently its great now. Needless to say I will never own a chevy. We are selling the POS next week and I'm trying my luck on a Ford. My advice DO NOT BUY a EQUINOX.

Rust bucket

I purchased a 2012 Chevy Equinox. I was the second owner and it was from Canada. It is engulfed in rust if I could submit photos I would. I have had this car for five years changed the oil regularly and kept it clean. There are spots that are rusted through already. It just went over 100,000 miles and the pistons and rings had to be replaced. Thee power windows are going and the heat system is going. I purchased this vehicle thinking it would be a long term use and have since let my loan go because no one wanted it as a trade and I can’t sell it out right and pay it off. I contacted chevy about it and they supposedly contacted a dealership about it. I went there to trade it in and they were of absolutely no help. I purchased this 2012 because I loved my 2011 that was totaled but it has been nothing but trouble. It’s one thing after another and I have been a loyal chevy customer until now. I am now a Jeep owner as Thai chevy sits in my driveway rusting away. I’m so disappointed that no one had any interest in helping me out. I know other people with different older cars that don’t have 90% of the rust that this car does. I will never buy a chevy vehicle again!!

Overstated MPG

I just bought a 2011 Equinox. I have been driving a V6 mustang for 11 years that gave me 18/22 and when I was looking to replace it after 11 years I decided on the Equinox due to its 22/32 MPG. I bought the 4 cyl engine thinking it will save in gas . . . big mistake! I should have just gotten the V6 as it is driving my normal drive I only got 19 MPG 80 % highway driving!! This overstating of MPG is a rip off to the consumers!! At this rate, I am no more better in gas mileage with my mustang who can zip in and out of traffic!! I will give it this winter to rate how well this AWD will do in the snow and ice before I complete this entire review

I just purchased a 2012 Chevy Equinox 1LT 4 cyl FWD last week after test driving a bunch of cars. I was down to two vehicles (Veloster and Equinox). As a single parent I chose the Equinox for the fact I was thinking about a family vehicle for me and my two elementary daughters. 1st of all, it get's nowhere near the 22/32 as listed. I took a road trip with 95% freeway miles and I average about 26mpg. Wow, what a GYP! 2nd, there is a loud noise while driving over 55mph and get's loader when I reach 65mph. I took it in to service dealer and they said they cant find why its making a noise but they think it's was the tires. [violative content deleted]! I should of got the Veloster. Hope I can trade it back in.
