Dissapointed!
I have 7000 miles on my 2012 Equinox (6Cyl) and so far I am very dissapointed with it. The 6 speed transmission shifts unexpectedly while driving making the car feels as though it's stalling. Acceleration is jerky and at time 'flat' wont move when you need power. Power steering vibrates while parking and backing out of my garage as though your parking an 18 wheeler! and a pump noise coming from engine compartment on drivers side that sounds like a playing card in a bicycle wheel spoke. I can't wait to get rid of this piece of crap!
2012 Equinox exceeds my expectation
I am very pleased with everything about the Equinox to this point, I had always been sceptical of crossovers and small SUV's as a taller person. I grew tired of putting $70/week worth of gas in my Expedition, so I decided to give it a chance. At 6'1 the front seat goes back further than I can have it, not to mention if you do have the front seat all the way back and the rear seat pushed back I can still be comfortable in the back seat. I was hesitant of a 4 cyl SUV, however even living in the mountains the 4 cyl 6 speed in Eco mode does great, I looked down and was doing 80. The features on the suv are amazing too, I am really happy, yes doesnt get 32 mpg but at this point I dont care.

Great crossover
Things I love about our 2012 4 cly.Chevy AWD Equinox 2LT,Seating,backup camera, inside space, Leg room, Heated seats, Nav. and XM radio, with a Very nice Powerful sound system, goes Great in the deep snow, surprised me. Gas mileage is good for AWD, but wish I would have got the 6 Cyl. It's Not that much diff. in mileage and the Extra 100 HP would be nice at times, like getting on the interstate and you need to get up to 70 MPH fast to get With the flow, but oh well, Next time I will buy bigger Engine, unless they Turbo charge the 4 Cyl. Ride is very smooth and handles Great.
Dont Buy It
My car was ok until I hit around 50K miles, then it had a rough idle, died on me occasionally and would lose power and shift hard. I changed the oil every 3K miles and it burned up oil anyway in between changes. I did usually have to put a quart or two in it before getting the oil changed, you cannot trust the oil change sensors, just a quick note, you better check it or will run it dry. I put alot of miles on a it and around 156K had to have the motor replaced. This car should have lasted a lot longer this this, I took good care of it, and overalll was just not a well made car and the hard shifting etc., got worse. Also had to have the catalytic converter replaced. Disappointed in Chevy to say the least, all we bought for the last 20 years was a Chevy. Stay away from this car, I also had to have solenoids replaced last year. Just so shocked I had to have motor replaced and it burned up so much oil, not a well made car for sure.
2012 Eqinox Just OK
I have owned my 2012 Equinox - 4 cylinder/FWD - since may of 2012. I have never gotten more than 29.5 MPG highway, not close the 32 Chevy quotes. (In fact, I got 22 MPG on one tank - some city miles spoem highway). Very disappointing. The FM radio has reception issues and fades in and out on occaision. It is a nuisance more than anything.
