The new Equinox is spacious for its class and relatively inexpensive. Interior space is excellent. The engine is responsive. Its ride is firm and comfortable. Front seats offer excellent support. Three average size adults fit in the back easily. Rear storage is ample. The sound system, including XM satellite radio, is good but there are too many controls. The window controls only on the center console take getting used to. However, a good place to have them if you have young children. Overall, at under $30,000 fully loaded, this is an outstanding value.

I have had my Equinox since Sept 04 and it has exceeded my expectations for an SUV! It isn't too big to drive and doesn't feel like you are driving a bus. It drives like a car and get gas mileage like a car also. I love it.

I have had my suv since July 2004 and there have been a few problems whith rattling in the steering they had to change the sterring column and a few recalls but we as new buyers of a new model will be the test drivers I would buy a another one in a few years when they have improved our needs. It is a fun ride and great for mothers that dont want to drive a hge tank and not a a ugly mini van. Fuel economy does however stink.

I love how it looks. It's fun to drive and handles OK in the snow but not when it's icy. It's too light and needs more weight. I had a minivan with AWD and it handled better because it weighed more. The seating is nice and so are the heated seats. Love them, good for long trips. Headrests are a little too big and get in your view. OK on gas at about 19 mg hwy. Problems with leaky windshield at first, then leaky moonroof. Nice to have but not worth all the hassle. Drainage problems and rot in hose for moonroof. Windshield has problems when weather is bad, unable to clear windshield without hazy streaking. Told it is an environmental problem. My 8 yr old minvan didn't have that problem. It's very problemsome.

Had to wait 10 weeks from order to delivery. WAIT WAS WORTH EVERY DAY. Styling of exterior is outstanding. Stereo system remind me of the reverberation units of the early 60's which makes it sound great without getting the premium system. Gas mileage averaged 24.6mpg on our most recent trip. With the window and front deflector accessories added, my wife's friends tell her it looks sassy (GOOD).Worth every penny.

It is very attractive and fun to drive. You sit up high so that you have a good field of view and it still allows you to get in and out easily. I am only 5' 3." The seats adjust to my stature very well. I can slide my groceries and golf bag in and out of the back with ease. It has lots of pep yet excellent gas mileage. I love this vehicle!

I'm graduating from a 2002 Subaru Outback. I needed AWD and the ability to fit 3 car seats across the back seat. The 2005 Equinox with cloth seats fits the bill. The back seat is cavernous and really easy for the kids to get in and out of their seats (Graco SnugRide, Radian 80, Graco Nautilus). The AWD is great, much superior to the FWD I was renting. I like the higher ride as compared to a car. I like the suspension as compared to a truck chassis like a Trail Blazer. The interior is cheap and basic, but I don't care about any of that and didn't want to pay up for it. The price is hard to beat. All in, this is just what I was looking for.

I researched and reviewed this vehicle for close to a year, reading everything I could find on it, then waited and waited until it was available to purchase. VERY disappointed with gas mileage, since that was one of the most important things to me. I have the LT FWD, and got 21.5 on a trip last summer. Get about 15 around the small town where I live. I really like everything else about the vehicle, but the mileage figures are a joke! Also, the head rests on back seat hindered vision until I figured out how to remove them.

Purchased 1SD package w/ upgrades (leather package, 17" wheels, xm radio). Smooth stable ride. Steering is nimble & responsive at different speeds & situations. Engine & transmission shift is smooth. Strong V6. Rear multi-level cargo shelf is useful for groceries, tailgate party, etc. Chose leather because it is more child resistant to spills & dirt. Right sized vehicle for 3-4 people + luggage. V6 engine is compact and uncluttered so there is room to inspect belts and hoses. Oil stick, brake fluid, & air filter are readily available. Made this jump back to an American vehicle for the dollar value size, quality, & performance.

Recenty I purchased this vehicle, and have been stopped by several people at gas stations and store parking lots asking what type of car it is and how do I like it. I smile and tell them Chevy and it's the best purchase I have ever made. I looked into the Jeep Liberty, Ford Escape, and the Hyundai Santa Fe (since my father has a 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe and is pleased with his purchase). All of the vehicles I was interested in had some features & the price range I wanted, but non had all until we came across the Equinox. We both researched and test drove the Equinox. That's all it took, I was sold and my dad is ready to trade.

The turning ratio on this vehicle is awful. The interior design to operate windows and exterior windows is awkward. The fuel mileage is terrible; we are so surprised that we got hoodwinked into buying this vehicle using a beautiful Cadillac as a tradein. What a ripoff; we're contemplating unloading it prior to the smartbuy expiration.

This vehicle has received many comments regarding its design and overall looks. It is very peppy, handles easily, is easy to park and maintain. The rear seat slide feature adds more than enough room for passengers and groceries. I am looking forward to taking a long trip vacation in the near future. Because of its mileage capability, the trip should be inexpensive and great fun.

And the features I truly enjoy, such as the DVD player, satellite radio, sunroof and the OnStar. I especially like the OnStar system, due to the fact that I know I'm protected at all times. When we bought this car we loved it. Now we hate it and I am seriously just waiting for it to die on us. This car has been to the Shop 5 times for the same problems. And we get the same response every time, "can't duplicate the problem on site - can't fix it" My husband and I were starting to think we were insane. I don't know how many people we have told not to but an Equinox. Now were are turned off from Chevys and american made cars all together after this junk box.

Wife likes sitting higher to see over other vehicles. Her friends are amazed at the roominess and style. Recently had rubbing/grinding noise develop when braking and turning the vehicle. Noise came from left wheel area/ steering linkage area. Turned out to be a bad shock strut. Dealer diagnosed promptly. However part took 15 days to get from a Midwest supplier. This is 2nd problem fixed under warranty. Drives like new again. Dealer service very good. Friend of my son in law who sells Jeeps was so impressed by the room inside our Equinox he stated "I hope my customers don't find out about this SUV". Taking a 1000 mile trip soon with our EQNX.

The down side is the interior noise level. If I don't play the radio it sounds like I'm in a wind tunnel. The door seals are also a bit cheap. I have to wipe inside the door frame after I have the car washed or a heavy rain. Some time you have to slam the door to get it to catch. And, the interior floor is thin. The heal of my shoe has gone through the floor. Also, redesign the headlight assembly. You have to take most of the front end off to change the headlight bulb. But the most shocking is the resale value. I owe $4000 more than what the car is currenty worth.

Find the 185 hp engine much too weak. Poor start from stop, noisy. Much todo about front seat folding flat but the rear seats do not thus an uneven floor. Nice ride, does well once under way. Very good on the freeway. Presently only 2700 mile on car but gas mileage is awful-15/22, a long way from touted 19/25. Clever rear storage arrangement but space over wheel wells is way underutilized.

I love my new 2005 Equinox as far as handling, driving, sporty. But we traded in a large van for something with better mileage, and this is NOT getting it. Our mileage on this vehicle is at least 5 mpg lower than it is rated. I have read that this vehicle is overrated as far as good mileage, in Newsweek, I believe. The Equinox has the exact same engine as my larger Silhouette, but the Silhouette gets much better mileage. That doesn't make much sense. We have taken the Equinox back to the dealership to be checked, but they say there is nothing wrong. This is very frustrating.

I do like my 05 Equinox, but on a long trip my family took, the comfort wasn't the best. There was plenty of room, but I have always had passenger cars which have the seats mounted lower to the floor. I am sure this is the reason for my discomfort on our long trip. The motor could use a bit more power. Even on local highways, the transmission downshifts when going up hills.

It took me a while to get used to my new turning radius (coming from a small convertible) but now it's as easy as driving my Mom's Impala. It looks good, too. I have received several comments about being mistaken for a Lexus!! I highly recommend the Equinox to anyone looking for an SUV that isn't a road hog!!

2000 miles (300 in snow) in the first 3 weeks. AWD is great, transition from FWD is seamless. Engine/performance is surprisingly adequate, but buzzy. Transmission shifts agreesively to maintain speed, no trouble holding 75. Handling good for an SUV. Strut towers limit rear luggage space, golf clubs won't fit except on diagonal. Plenty of rear leg room with sliding rear seat. Firm seats were comfortable on 12 hr plus trip. LS is bit spartan, cruise control not standard? Come on! Gas mileage is suspect, too early to tell, guess about 22/16. Was hestitant to buy American (OK an American company), but price was the closer. Happy to date, we will see how reliability shapes up

I bought my Equinox used with 23,000 miles on it. Was a great car did a lot of traveling in it. The car now has 93,000 miles on it and is killing me in repair costs. Transmission flush costs 300.00! No place would do it except for my dealership. Problem of hard shifting got worse and found out valves were bad in the transmission. Cost for new part 4200.00 plus labor at dealership. I got a used one at half the cost. Told this is common for this type of transmission. Brakes need replaced a lot but are fairly cheap. Key stuck in the ignition, and lots of front end work constantly needs done. Not good in the winter in the snow or rain like it used to be. Feels unsafe. Consider another vehicle.

I have had many vehicles over the years and I feel I know what I like in a vehicle. Being on the Fire Department and working for the Sheriffs office, I need to be able to get to work or get to a fire call regardless if it's snowing or sunny weather. I also have plenty of room for all my fire gear plus my passengers and any groceries, shopping bags that we happen to pick up along the way. It's a wonderful SUV. I had a brand new Mustang, had it for a year then fell in love with the Equinox!
