Equinox
Have an extremely bad back. This vehicle fits me quite well without any added cushions, etc. Am very pleased with whole automobile, looks, driving comfort, performance, etc. My husband and I both enjoy the auto. Has been a pleasing experience to have other adults travel with us as the back seat rides great and the room provided in all seats is wonderful. We are basically a family of long legged person. Thanks for a great automobile!
2005 Equinox LT
I have really enjoyed this vehicle, especially for the price. I am, however, dissatisfied with the gas mileage. It has been quite sporadic (from 16 to 20 mpg)since I bought it in December 2004. I finally took it to the service dept. in July and was told that a new program was downloaded for it. So far I have gotten 20 mpg after interstate driving and 18 in town. Doesn't look like I'll fare so well after this next fill-up though. Other than that, it is fun to drive (I downsized from a Ford Expedition) and it is comfortable enough for 2 adults, 2 carseats, a stroller, and groceries!

the perfect suv
This vehicle is perfect from the body style to the performance, its the perfect car. as for comfort, it seats 5 extremely comfortable. Chevy has designed the 2005 CAR OF THE YEAR. IF chevy needs someone for a commerical, just ask.
Best Choice for our Family
We are a family of 3, with a small child, and this vehicle is perfect for us. The price is great for a working family. It has roomy back seats. The cargo area is great for luggage plus a baby stroller, not to mention the extra room with the cargo racks. If you want an SUV with a car like feel, this is the choice for you.
Equinox a Bust
Gas mileage is poor, only average 12mpg. The seats stain with water. It has a horrible turning radius, and more rattles than a can with marbles. Cheap interior finish. All painted interior surfaces are scratched or peeling off. Has a terrible radio, have a hum in the rear.
Already broke down
Less than 200 miles into this and it already blew the trans. Thanks Chevy...I should have bought a VUE
I like it for now
I had nothing but used vehicles prior to this, and for the reliability and affordability, you can't beat it. The V6 purrs on the open road, but can be choppy in stop and go traffic. I really wanted something bigger, but until I can afford it, this is a great transition vehicle.
Just got rid of this car...
We had purchased this vehicle used with 19,000 miles on it in 2007. I immediately realized it needed brakes and rotors. Electrical system was whacky, started would run and run when you tried to start it. Buttons wore badly and paint rubbed off the dash and interior badly as well. Last straw was a flat tire that took 4 hours to get off due to it being rusted to the car. The only good thing was that the dealership liked the features and it only had 53,000 miles on it which made a nice 6k down payment on a new Dodge Journey R/T. Bye Bye Equinox...
Awesome Equinox
I love the way the Equinox handles on the road. I get great gas mileage with my Equinox with 20 - 26 mpg. I like that everyone has sufficient room to be comforatable for traveling. The storage area behind the seats is great too with the table top for layers -- great idea!
Great First New Vehicle Purchase
I have driven my Chevy back and forth to Detroit within a month of purchase, I must say, it was a very comfortable ride. It is spacious for the luggage and just a pleasant vechile to be in on a long trip.
Love the car
I love the car. Its fun to drive and its a zippy little thing. It has a lot of get up and go. You can haul just about everything a truck can haul..
Pro's and Con's
I love my car but there are a few issues I have. First of all, the CD player is a mess. I have already had one replaced and another replacement is on the way. The CD's get stuck in the player and will not come out. Second, light interior. I have had a light interior in cars before but never as easily stained as my Equinox i.e., my hair was wet when I got in the car and it made a water stain on the head rest that will not go away. Lastly, at times I have noticed the car will make knocking noises or jerk when I turn corners. The adjustable back seat is great! I can make extra room for the kids on long trips or make extra space in the back when I go shopping. Overall, great car!
Best Buy
Fun to drive. Tracks great. Decent gas mileage. Very comfortable. Satellite phone expensive. Satellite radio great. Good in the snow. A great radio system, with 6 CD changer, AM/FM who cares? I use satellite radio all the time. Could have a little more power. Side view is nicer than the Lexus. A lot of people think I'm driving a Lexus. Front and back views----no good. Warrenty not good enough. 3/36. The power seat is a joke. You have power in the bottom and still have to manually tilt the back rest. If you have the sun/ moon roof open and all the windows are closed, it sounds like there is a helocopter above you from the wind at 26 to 34 mph.
not "equinoxious"
good new suv from chevy but needs the VUE engine to make it great.
MY Review
Transmission has unusual shifts when compromising steep graded hills. Horsepower lacks muscle. Nice car for a Sunday drive on a flat road. Good looking exterior and comfort inside is also good.
JUVENTUS
NICE SUV. GREAT TRANSMISSION. PLENTY ON LEG ROOM. GOOD STEREO SYSTEM
Bitter-Sweet
This car is very nice from the exterior! GM did a great job designing this SUV. I am sorely dissapointed however with the car them longer I own it. So far it's been in the shop 4 times. Faults from warped front discs (brakes) to a bad rear diff. to an electrical problem to a bad sensor in the engine. I have come to HATE the interior. Granted this is the LS version and only a measly $20,000, but how about a map light...or any light near the RV mirror!!! WTF was GM thinking. The ONLY interior light (beside the light in the trunk) is on the ceiling between the front and back seat. You are out of luck if you need to read a map in the dark. Also no hanger hooks for dry cleaning. Wake up GM!
Chevy Equinox
I love my Equinox! The price is excellent and it drives beautifully. It looks great, is a great deal, and is loaded with desirable options like satellite radio, side airbags, and sound system.
Safety is Number ONE!!!
My daughter loved driving this vehicle. It drives very smooth, like a car, but she is up higher and can see better. Recently, a car sideswiped her on the freeway, causing her to lose control. She hit a cement guardrail almost head on doing 55mph in her Equinox. She 360'd across the freeway and ended up against the opposite guardrail and yet SHE WALKED AWAY with just some soreness and a small seatbelt mark!!! The vehicle was totalled because it did what it was designed to do - take the impact and protect the passengers. And OnStar called her just like in the commercials. We are definitely getting her another Equinox to replace it. Her safety is number one!
my equinox
Smooth ride sports car handling and plenty of room
Good to go
Had the SUV for 6 months. Not one problem. Drives and handles beautifully. Lots of room to move all kinds things around, including lumber. Really a solid performer so far. My brother purchased a Chevy SUV first, he travels and has 20,000 miles on his. Not one warranty claim on his either. That is performance.
Best Chevy I've Owned
Best value in small/midsize SUV category. Best Chevy I've owned. Very smooth transmission. Nice acceleration. Great looks (inside and out). AWD is wonderful in rain and snow. I got it loaded and couldn't be happier. I read all the ratings in here and most are on the mark. Cupholders are flimsy, but the rear headrests have not been an issue. I would highly recommend this SUV
Nice ride
Overall I have enjoyed driving the vehicle, however I am somewhat concerned with the way the automatic transmission shifts during acceleration, the tach revs very high before shifting. The rear windows leave some blind spots, however the front seating is comfortable and visability is good in front.
2005 Chevrolet Equinox
Doors open wide and are easy to get in and out of. Great for the "Gray Panthers" or someone with minor disabilities. Rides like a car. Traction is great.
I like it
Drives and rides nice. Like the back seat room and ease of entering and exiting the rear seat. The electric assist power steering is nice. Overall a nice vehicle to have.
Like my Nox
I have had my Nox for 7 months, and have had no problems at all. I am not overly excited about my gas mileage. I live in Pittsburgh with hills everywhere, and average about 17 mpg in city driving. As for the window controls on the center console that everyone complains about, my boss's Mercedes has its controls on the console also, and it costs about 3 times as much as my Nox. My only complaint is the turning radius seems to be way too big for the size of the vehicle. Besides this, I have not one bad thing to say about my Nox. I love it.
Equinox 05
I have only had this vehicle for one week and so far my only and greatest disappointment is the fuel economy. My old 87 with over 300k miles got better gas mileage than my new car! It falls below the advertised 19 MPG average. I'm lucky if I get 14 MPG. I do love how it handles and the spaciousness for the passengers.
great suv
this vehicle is roomy and has very comfortable seating capacity, engine produces powerful results. fun to drive with awd.lots of room for cargo . nice ride. accurat gas milege.
Equinox Buyers Beware!
My experience with my Equinox has been the worst experience ever. I have had the check engine light, check oil light, and airbag light come on at least 5-7 times a week. The car has more rattles than a 200,000 mile junker, and with every bump hit, you swear it is going to fall apart. Also, the vehicle has a selective starting problem. It will start some mornings, and other mornings it won't. Everyday there is a new problem and a new mystery cause no one can seem to fix the problems. This is by far the worst vehicle that anyone could ever choose to own
Really good family car for the price!
We've had the car for about a 1.5 years now. It has not been taken to the shop even once in all that time. The price was excellent for the quality. The layout and design of the trunk and backseats are really quite good. The seats in the front are very comfortable, but the ones in the back are just a little uncomfortable.
1st Chevy
Drove my son to college, couldn't fit everything, roof guard rails not too functional, window controls in awkward area. If using emergency brake must remove item in cup holders. Lousy steering, clunking noise in front. Engine serviced 3 times and can't fix it. Exhaust noisy when first starting the car. Seats uncomfotable, head rests slanted. Visibility through rear view mirror poor. Dash board cheap looking. Compared to my Ford Escape 2003 (same price point) not even close. Won't buy another Chevy
Don't knock the 'nox!
I bought the 'nox about 3wks ago and so far so good. It has a spacious interior but the trim is a little cheesy. The engine has good pick up for typical driving. The ride is smooth and fairly quiet. I opted for the'nox because I wanted the height of an suv for getting baby in&out of her carseat. I also wanted AWD for our N.Eastern winters. The Trailblazer was larger than what I wanted so the 'nox is the perfect size. I would call it a replacement suv for the Blazer/Jimmy as opposed to the Tracker. GM has come a long way w/this suv. A real contender for the Escape, Liberty, RAV-4 etc. Equinox is destined to be a top seller.
Fun Equinox
Great SUV for the money. I have had my Equinox for a year now (25K) and have had no problems...Knock, Knock.. The car is spacious inside and has great acceleration and handling. Very fun car to drive.
Loving My Nox
I traded in my Blazer for the Equinox. Haven't had any problems whatsoever. It's so much fun to drive, and it has great features for the price I paid. I'm always getting stopped to ask how I like my Equinox., and I always say, it's the best car I've ever had.
Juuuust what I wanted
I was in the market for a midsize SUV last year, but didn't find any of the available vehicles that attractive. I had myself talked into a Ford Escape, but hated the fact that there was NO legroom for rear passengers, and the overall look was only OK. Then I saw the Equinox at the Detroit auto show. It seemed to fit perfect. After doing some online research, I ordered one. When I went to order it, I knew more about it than the dealership. I ended up getting one of the first ones delivered at my dealership. It's exactly what I wanted. From the exterior to the interior, I love it.
Comfort
When Sitting in Drivers Seat, It is fairly Hard and close to the door frame, which hits you in the shoulder. Otherwise Nice Car
fun car!
We really like our Equinox. The sliding and recling rear seat is great as well as the adjustable tray in the cargo area. It handles nicely, the steering is particularly nice making driving on tight corners a breeze. We have had a great deal of compliments on the outside appearance which is nice. We have had a couple of different people tell us it resembles the Lexus suv.
Great vehicle!
This car is comfortable and fun to drive. Its gas mileage is decent, and my kids love how the back seat reclines. it was a very great price for this car.
Matt
This is an excellent vehicle. It gets pretty good mileage in town and is ver comfortable. I have to rent vehicles for work often. I have driven CRVs, Escapes and Jeeps. I always love to get back into my Equinox. It is much better than all of the rest.
regret buying
Purchased on 5/30/04. Went in to replace strut bushings at 600 miles. Went in to replace strut bushings at 1400 miles. Was told that there is a design flaw in the struts. Parts ordered. Now almost two weeks and no parts. GM tecnical services was involved at the second occurance. With the exception of this problem, I really like the Equinox. Being 6'5" tall, I have no problem with entering or exiting. . Right now I feel like returning the Equinox to the dealer for another vehicle. Feel very frustrated with the inactivity in correcting the problem with the suspension. If there is a design flaw, the Equinox should not have been sold without corre
a great buy and not to big nor to small
I have had my suv since July 2004 and there have been a few problems whith rattling in the steering they had to change the sterring column and a few recalls but we as new buyers of a new model will be the test drivers I would buy a another one in a few years when they have improved our needs. It is a fun ride and great for mothers that dont want to drive a hge tank and not a a ugly mini van. Fuel economy does however stink.
Like vehicle, hate MPG
I researched and reviewed this vehicle for close to a year, reading everything I could find on it, then waited and waited until it was available to purchase. VERY disappointed with gas mileage, since that was one of the most important things to me. I have the LT FWD, and got 21.5 on a trip last summer. Get about 15 around the small town where I live. I really like everything else about the vehicle, but the mileage figures are a joke! Also, the head rests on back seat hindered vision until I figured out how to remove them.
Mother's Day Gift
Purchased 1SD package w/ upgrades (leather package, 17" wheels, xm radio). Smooth stable ride. Steering is nimble & responsive at different speeds & situations. Engine & transmission shift is smooth. Strong V6. Rear multi-level cargo shelf is useful for groceries, tailgate party, etc. Chose leather because it is more child resistant to spills & dirt. Right sized vehicle for 3-4 people + luggage. V6 engine is compact and uncluttered so there is room to inspect belts and hoses. Oil stick, brake fluid, & air filter are readily available. Made this jump back to an American vehicle for the dollar value size, quality, & performance.
NEW OWNER LOVES HER SUV
BEING SHORT, I CAN NOW SEE OVER OTHERS, PLENTY OF STORAGE ROOM AND PASSENGER SPACE, NOT SO TALL, I CAN STILL PARK IN THE GARAGE. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A CHEVROLET CUSTOMER, CORVETTES MOSTLY, BUT GETTING OLDER! (STILL HAVE THE CORVETTES)...I WALKED IN ..DIDN'T TEST DRIVE..BOUGHT MY VEHICLE IN 5 MINUTES...SHOCKED THE SALES PERSON. I KNOW THE QUALITY ALREADY.
A Bit Disappointing
The turning ratio on this vehicle is awful. The interior design to operate windows and exterior windows is awkward. The fuel mileage is terrible; we are so surprised that we got hoodwinked into buying this vehicle using a beautiful Cadillac as a tradein. What a ripoff; we're contemplating unloading it prior to the smartbuy expiration.
Equinox Review
Good performance, good size, smooth in highways.
Love it
I love this car. We recently got rid of my husbands pickup and I went from driving a Tahoe to this and I think it is great
Good Car
Bought this SUV used a year ago, and I have had no issues at all. I am in the military stationed in NY, and I drive to VA about every four months. Great for long trips. Good fuel economy. Great everyday driving car. Only issue I have had is battery placement.
My Equinox
One of the most easiest vehicles I have ever driven. I enjoy this vehicle very much. I will keep this vehicle for several years. I highly recommend it to others.
Loving My Equinox
I truly love this vehicle. My Equinox is easy to control, drives wonderfully, very good on gas and it LOOKS good. I love all the room within the vehicle. And the features I truly enjoy, such as the DVD player, satellite radio, sunroof and the OnStar. I especially like the OnStar system, due to the fact that I know I'm protected at all times. The vehicle notifies you of mechanical problems.
