Used 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt Sedan Consumer Reviews
Engine Start up Noise
We have an 09 XFE with the 2.2 Ecotec. The engine rattles loudly at start up for about three seconds then quiets down nicely. This car only has about 2400 miles on it. Anyone else having this type of problem? I'm a little shy of this engine because of the noise.
2010 Chevy Cobalt
This has been a good car. Besides having to fix a few things. The check engine light came on first and there was a leak in the fuel hose connected to the tank. The fuel tank was replaced. Then started to notice a noise/clicking every time I turned the fan on and had to replace the motor for the fan in the front because a blade was broken on the motor. Next had to pay to replace the front right strut because it was leaking. Most recently water was leaking into car change drawer near drivers side and also dripping down to floor. The seals needed to be done again and hopefully I will not have anymore problems anytime soon. Good luck to other cobalt owners and hope the cars run with less issues.
Piece of Junk
This car is a piece of junk! Chevy knows absolutely nothing about design and style. It is way over priced. This is like a 10k econo car and they have nerve to sell for way over that. If you live in AZ, this car is definitely junk. It was 75 degrees out today and had to use the AC and it totally dogged out not to mention the ac is cool at best. It will never make it thru the summer. hopefully it will be a lemon so i can get something else that I'm not embarrassed to be seen in and is comfortable and affordable. This car should not be allowed on the market. Oh yeah, lets not forget the totally cheesy interior. I think the 1972 Ford Pinto did better than this one! Or the AMC Gremlin.
FANTASTIC CAR
I bought the Cobalt and love it, I keep reading its uncomfortable but I think its very comfortable front and back seat. It is very peppy on road and fun to drive, if you read the manual on Auto. transmission and use the half pedal deflection on passing it flys. Interior is mostly plastic but that makes it very easy to keep clean, seats are comfy with plenty of adjustments height, back, head lets face it its a economy car but I love it. Doesn't feel like a small car and looks sharp.
Caught Fire in a 30mph accident
I bought my 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt LT in June 2023 from a neighbour of mine. This isn’t the first Cobalt I’ve owned either, as I previously owned a 2005 Pontiac Pursuit (Canada only Pontiac badged Cobalt) that succumbed to the harsh New Brunswick Canada Winters due to salt & past owners improper maintenance causing front subframe rust. I loved my Pursuit and my Cobalt. The Pontiac was my first car, and the Cobalt was my fifth. I put a total of approximately 5,000 kilometers on my cobalt between June of 2023 and November 6th 2023 when my car was unfortunately totalled. Despite having the car for less than five months, it outlived my expectations. I purchased the car for $550.00CAD, a rare find for 2023. The car was running and driveable, and inspected for one year. I brought it to the garage where they deemed the car safe, and the rust was limited to the rocker panels. On November 6th at 8:30AM I was bringing a friend home and in going over a blind hill, the sun reduced my visibility and unfortunately, just past the top of the hill, an SUV was stopped. At 50km/h (30MPH) I rear ended the SUV, a 2021 Nissan Rogue. The airbags deployed on impact, and as soon as the airbags deployed I saw orange flames under the hood. I looked to my friend and told him there was a fire, and our seatbelts unfastened right away and the doors opened no problem. Within 45 seconds, the entire car was engulfed in flames and the windows were exploding. Luckily, we had a guardian Angel or two protecting us as everyone walked away without a scratch or injury. The SUV I hit btw was completely fine, a cracked bumper and that’s it. My car, had the fire not happened, would still have been totalled as the airbags deployed and engine had shifted. Paramedics, Firefighters, and police told us that we had less than a 1% chance to walk away unharmed like we did.
