Used 1998 Chevrolet C/K 1500 Series Consumer Reviews
GM's Cost Cutting Revealed
Cheap seats, cheap soft foam compound, you sink in seat. Flasher button is temperamental. Stop clunk noise. Cheap thin chrome front bumper isn't good for anything except show. A/c system would not stay charged. Cheap plastic outer distributor components, when replacing distributor the treads stripped out. Wind noise around door. No drain plug on differential, means you have to take diff cover off to change gear oil.
One Solid Truck
I've had my 1998 K1500 Silverado for almost four years now, and the only repair it needed was a new set of U- joints. Well built, the last of the old style before the 99's, so everything was pretty much perfected. Good acceleration and pulling power with the 5.7 liter, and gas milage better than Ford or Dodge.

disappointed with Chev
I had a 1988 chev and was real happy with it. Bought a used 98 last yr with a 5 litre, auto, 2 wheel dr,and it has cost me plenty. The trani went for a $3,000 touch, rear pinon bearing, manifold gasket, drive shaft seal, thermostat, heater coupler, rad, fuel pump humms like a 747 ready to take off, it's been replaced once already, truck wonders on the road, no pulling power, interior lights work sometimes, frnt seats rattle and move while locked in place, rear seat does the same, squeeky 3rd dr, crappy tire jack design, try changing a tire at 30 below! I'm already looking for a different truck. Really disappointed in Chev.
Truck
Great truck. Great value.
Very Good Truck
I bought this with 95K on the odometer. I have put 14K on it in 6 months, without a single penny of repair! It also impressed me this year with some of the heavier than expected snow. It never lost traction, or got me stuck. Seems to be a very reliable truck overall.
