Glad i got one of the last ones
Cant argue with the power of the motor and 6speed trans. Brakes are awsome, handles great and execellent a/c. Can't get this kind of performance at this price.
Best Value
The Camaro is the only car out there that fills the niche for me. I have no need for an SUV. The Japenese imports all look the same to me -- boring. You just can't beat the styling and performance of the Camaro. I wasn't really ready to buy a car yet, but with the last year of production and the rebate, I couldn't refuse. I got a great deal, but then again, that's what everyone thinks. I love the handling, the performance, the looks, and the great fuel economy. It is actually fun to drive to work now.

Nice Car
This car is awesome. I love racing cars and i also beat my friends 2001 Mustang Bullitt. The power is amazing.
TO BAD AFTER 35 YEARS
A VERY GOOD LEGEND OF A CAR A POWER HOUSE FOR LOYALTY OWNERS AND IF YOUR NOT A F-BODY FAN U SHOULD BE
Poor Man's Vette
Truly a performer. Very sleek and eff- cient design, good sound proofing, plenty of power. Handles like a real sports car. Very fuel efficient (30.5 mpg @ 75 MPH) in light hwy trfc (Lexus owners eat your hearts out).
What is Edmunds' problem?
After reading the Edmunds editors reviews of the 4th generation Camaros, I suddenly felt the need to write a review of my own. I don't ever recall seeing such obvious bias in a review; but then, I haven't read many other reviews of American muscle cars, so maybe that's where their issues lie. I am very happy with my '02 Camaro; sure it's not perfect, and it's not Japanese, but it is a lot of fun to drive, is as reliable as any other car of its ilk, and oh did I mention it's a blast to drive. The car has over 120k miles on it now, and the engine & transmission are a solid now as they ever were. I've been able to fix any minor issues that have come up.
Lots Of Fun To Drive
Total Rush To Drive
Excellent Bang for the buck
There is simply no better performance value than this car. It has the performance of cars costing more than twice its price. It has a fairly basic interior but thats okay because it keeps the price down and allows you to focus on the fun part, driving!
Verrrrrryyyyy FAST
I just got my Z28. It is one awsome car! I have had many custom and classic cars in the past such as a 70 Chevell, 72 Pontiac GP. Two 72 SB pickups And a Chevy Luv packing a 327 v-8. I would have to say this is by far the funnist car I have ever owened! This car with it's LS1 5.7 V-8 is very fast! Don't under estimate this cars pwoer. It also handles like a go kart! I love this car!
Not so much as a tick: It's Great!
My 2002 Sunset Orange Metallic Z-28 has been nothing short of awesome. I've had absolutely zero problems with it, and I get compliments on it almost every time I pull in to the station for a fill-up. The LS-1 truly makes this rumbling beast a "poor-man's Corvette." I'll probably have to get my speakers replaced, but that's this metalhead's fault, not Chevy's. The materials are cheap-looking, but the ergonomics are great.
Bad bowtie!
I have had my 02 3.8 liter camaro for 4 years now. I drive it hard. It is a great looking car and amazing to drive. After a long or bad day just take the T tops off and stomp on the gas and a smile will always come! I plan on keeping this car until it rots!!
2002 Camaro SS
I am having a blast with this car. It has been chosen for weekend fun only and it answers back in spades. I highly recommend this car to any responsible driver looking for something fun to drive when the sun is shining and the beaches are full of ladies! Her road track capabilities are incredible. I ordered mine with the optional 2000 dollar 1LE suspension upgrade. Couldn't be happier. The double adjustable Koni shocks are awesome and the optional BFG G-Force tires look and perform like they were meant for this car. For the money, you won't find anything like this-not even the 2003 Cobra can keep up through the cones.
sporty car
Awesome car --- bring it back--ASAP.
Fast
Great car, In college my roomate and I built a '91 GTA trans am and I always wanted another F-body. Found this one on a used car lot. The interior is pretty craptastic and there are some squeaks and rattles, but the car is extremely fast, it is well known that the 310hp factory rating was grossly low to make sure the Vette was the king of the GM hill. My car has long tube headers and other bolt ons, probably good for around 325 rwhp (haven't dynoed yet). Engine and tranny feel rock solid. My car does have a modified suspension and low profile tires so the ride is harsh but the seats are quite comfortable which help.
02 camaro z28 m6
Quick, fast, 24.8 mpg average for 11,800miles. Comfortable on long trips (NY-Flordia 4200mi 11 days). No problems, never back to dealer. My 4th Z (91,97,98,02) best one yet!
Amazing Car for the Money
I've had experience driving the new m3, corvette zo6 porsche boxster s, and subaru wrx. This camaro is awesome. It has tons of performance, good ride and great handling!
Awesome car.
This car has had zero defects. It exceeds my highest expectations. It handles well, interior ergonomics (except seating position-I'm 6'2") are right where they should be. I'm happy with fuel economy and tightness of vehicle. This car is a winner.
2002 Chevrolet Camaro Z28
This car is simply amazing. Unbelievably lightning fast, intense power, state of the art Corvette muscle car engine. This car with its V8 gets better gas milage, than my 6 cylinder Acura. The last of a fine breed of muscle cars. I wouldn't trade this car for any other in the world. Unlimited potential with the wide array of after- market parts. I love this car.
SS
Incredible car for the money. Most people don't know that it gets the same fuel economy as a Camry, and matches the Porsche 911 0-60. Plus it has 33.0 cubic feet of cargo area. I think Chevrolet missed their market by not advertising the positives of this car, and by letting the gen 3 f-cars' image discourage would-be buyers. Also, contrary to popular belief, this car isn't bad in the snow. If you think so, just change the tires to all-season.
The Best Car Ever
This is my Dream car. So fun to drive. This car will be back
I LOVE THIS CAR!!
There is only one draw back to this car, and this only applies to people that are 6'5" and taller, leg room is a little to short
A Very Fine Ride
I bought my new Z28 in July 2002. Although I only have 5K miles on it at this time, I can say that Motor Trend was right, this car is the performance buy of the century. I have the automatic (upper back problems with a clutch). Still, this baby does fly. Very good handling. Recommend Chevy drop the overly raked windshield, fastback, the toooo (55 inches) long doors and go to the Retro version as seen in a previous Motor Trend article when, not if, they build the new one.
A Must Have!
A very fun car to drive. It will spin the hell out of the tires when you want it to. When you don't, it will accelerate faster then you think it should. Good Car. I have owned 4 Camaros. GM has done it right with the last generation Camaro. Will be sad to see it go.
the best
it is a great car. it is so much fun to drive.
BRING IT BACK!
This is my 3rd camaro, and by far the best! I have wanted a camaro ever since I was a kid, and now I have the best, a 2002 Pewter SS, fully loaded. The power is unmatched, and the handleing is superb. Great for everyday, and great at the track. Considering its 400 HP LS1 engine (i had to add some stuff), and a lead foot...19mph isn't that bad.
Camaro WAS a good value sporty car
It is obvious that the editors have too huge a bias against american Hobby cars. They should have recuesed themselves from rating cars they just don't like. These are not world class touring cars, but for the money they have provided tons of fun both in the driving and in the modifications.
Back to the true sports car
I have had this car for a a little over a month, but what a great car. I only have the V-6 with the five speed. It is a very agile car that is very fun to fly through the gears. Drifting the car / burnouts very easy. The car is built solid and doesnt seem to have any problems. The seats even though they are cloth are more comfortable than my sister's Mustang's that are leather. Over all it is a sporty fun car that is a great starter car or even a easy driver.
great
always have loved camaros. This is the best one that I have owned.
camaro z28
fast, goodlooking and smooth.did i menton that its fast
Finally got a blue one
There has got to be something good here. They were used for police cars. They are headturners. Haven't had it in any weather yet, so I'm waiting to see. Can't believe when they end a tradition they make a plain base car. But it handles nice, ride is pretty good for sport, gas mileage isn't bad. It is a bit wide to see with the mirrors.
THE SS
It is a great car - BUY ONE IF YOU CAN!!!
Camaro SS
Pure performance at a reasonable cost.
2002 Camaro Z28
It's not the absolute best looking Camaro, but it's fast, comfortable and gets great mileage in the city and on the highway. The LS1 is an absolute torque-beast!
Pewter Z28
This car is indeed the bang for the buck performance king, no real problems that I have encountered so far, and the T-tops add to the enjoyment of driving this car
disappointed in gm
i did't like the idea of gm installing a"safety feature" which shut my 98 z28 off at 112mph. I felt like that was false advertisement when the speed omoter says 150mph,and considering that my 94 z didn't have a shut off.so when i decided to get the 2002 i made sure there was no safety feature on my new z. i was really disappointed in what gm had done, i called gm and asked if the corvette had this safety feature? no! i guess it was a money thing.over all i love my z,but gm almost lost along time z28 fan and customer.
Simply a must have kind of car
This car is amazing. I have owned it for a couple months, and in that time, I have had a blast with it. Drifting is fun with the ASR (acceleration-slip reduction) off, and downshifting from 5th into 4th while going down the road just to get the feeling of being thrown back into the seat is just indescribable. I would've gone for a Z28/ SS, but for an entry-level sports car, I saw the base Camaro as a perfect idea
Excellent 3.8L
Very glad I purchased one. Wanted an import sports coupe but the Camaro was too tempting. Bought one and no regrets at all. I'm just driving around until the "break in" is reached and then I'll really test this car!
Great car! Fun to drive!
This is the second Camaro I've had (last one was a '97), and I was even more satisfied this time around with the overall performance. This car is still running great after owning it for 5 years. Keeping up with the maintenance is essential for these cars. I wasn't as careful with my last Camaro, and I ended up with several mechanical problems.
Love that Z
I love driving this car. It handles well, brakes well, and definitely knows how to get out of the way when necessary. In fact, all the cars that I leave at the line look surprised when they catch up and find a female driving. The 6-speed manual transmission is a nice "upgrade" from the 5. My only issue with it is the annoying skip- shift "feature" that dumps you into 4th from 1st if your RPMs aren't high enough. Yuck. Also, GM should have put larger rotors on this car because the ones that come stock warp in no time. But that's okay, the dealership gets to pay for mine for 100K miles. :) I love my Z. She's a lot of fun.
Bad Toy
I just bought my Z28 in the new silver, and it was one of only 3 Z28s left in Houston. Its off the hook on acceleration, and the sound system kicks everyone elses butts. It was a dealer demo, and I got jacked on my trade, but it was worth it to get one on the last available new. Chrome wheels, T tops, and black leather, its an eye catcher indeed.
153,000 miles and still going
I have had my 2002 camaro 35th anniversary edition since January of 2002. 8 months ago, I had the water pump replaced. Today, I had the sway bar replace and in the very near future I will need to have the catalytic converter replaced. Considering that I have 153,000 miles on this car, I think its done really well.
Over 310hp+25mpg+23k= A steal!!
I bought the car over a year ago. The LS-1 engine really was the main factor. However, the whole car is just a good package with a lot of potential. Great looks, goes like bat out of hell, and I got 25.5mpg on a trip to Pennsylvania with the a/c on! The stock Z-28 leaves with a lot of options on how you want the car to perform. It's a great base for autocrossing, open tracking, or drag racing. The aftermarket industry has a lot to offer. And getting help over the net is easy with sites like ls1.com and ls1tech.com Overall, an inexpensive car with tons of potential.
Sad to see her go.
My Camaro has been my most entertaining car to date. I'd like to address some of the complaints that people typically have about this car: 1) Ride quality: Its solid rear axle isn't going to provide a silky smooth ride, but it isn't bone-jarring either. 2) Build quality: as with all cars: if you beat it, it will break. The F-body has amazing mod potential, and people tend to go overboard with mods, and then complain about their cars breaking. 3) Noise: If you don't appreciate the throaty purr of a V8 at idle, or the wild roar at WOT, then you weren't meant for this car.
2002 Camaro
I love this car!!
I had to have one!!!
I just purchased a new black Z28 at the end of OCtober. I felt that I had to get one before they all disappear new and the only way to get one will be a used one. I got the 6 speed with the t- tops, Chrome wheels etc. I grew up with the Camaro. It was born in 1967 ( Iknow actually 9/66) I was born in 1967.So we turn 35 together. I love the car so far. I bought it as a collector /pleasure car and so far, it has been a real pleasure
Camaros are the best
This car is a great car. Its the best car for its price. I think GM shouldnt have stopped production on this car.
More bang for your buck!
This is the second camaro I have owned. I have also owned a C5 corvette. While the vette handles significantly better the raw seat of the pants accelleration is not too much different than the Camaro once a few after market mods are thrown on. For half the price of the corvette though this car is a steal! If you like to go fast and don't care about creature comforts then this is for you.
WOW
This car is unbelievable
Slow poke
I special ordered this car last spring after thinking about it for two years. I ordered all the options except for the T-tops and traction control. I got the Y87 Performance/Handling package. Everything is great about this car except the V6 engine. What a letdown. Two weeks ago I went back to the dealer and special ordered a Z/28 with almost all the same options. I ordered it with the 3.23 axle. I would not have bought another Camaro if it wasn't a great car.
Great car
I bought my 2002 3.8 liter V6 Camaro just a few weeks ago and I'm truly impressed. My last car was a 1995 Camaro V6 and I dove it from 207,000 miles to 239,500 miles. After I sold it, I knew I had to have another Camaro and the 2002 is even better than my '95. This 2002 only has 95,000 miles and it performs like a muscle car - a V8 muscle car. The styling is wonderful inside and out and the engine is very sound. I can tell this car was a good buy and I'm going to be driving it for years to come.
