The Cadillac Deville
When I purchased this vehicle, I expected only the best, considering it was a Cadillac, and I had heard nothing but good about the brand. I was not disappointed. Other than regular maintenance, I have had absolutely no trouble with my Cadillac, and I just love it. The Deville runs clean, very quiet, and smooth. It will start rigth up, even in -15F weather! The Northstar is fabulous. The responsive and agressive acceleration can likely blow the doors off of anything on the road. Gas mileage is exceptional for a car this size. The interior is superb. There is legroom abound inside the Deville. In all, the Deville is an excellent car all-around. I wouldn't trade it for anything else.
Awesome Power &Luxery
Wow what power and ride is the best on the open road 32 vavle Northstar gets 17 in the city and 26 on the highway average. Best Caddy ever built.

Cadillac Impressions
Since the day of purchase, I have been very pleased with this automobile. The styling is simple beauty, the performance via the Northstar engine is superb without sacrificing fuel economy, which runs about 23 mpg avg. The interior has a very high level of luxury and one can drive this automobile all day without tiring.
Very satisfying, but not without issues.
I purchased this vehicle with 26,600 miles in September 20009. Previous car was a 2004 Mitsubishi Galant. My particular example has had some issues. Two weeks after purchase, engine started misfiring but only at under 5 MPH. Replaced plugs, wires, etc. didn't fix it. At this point I've gotten used to it and don't want to put more money into it. Keyless entry stopped working for no reason. The car gets poor fuel economy (probably related to the misfire), around 10 in the city and 19 on the highway. Still, this is a very satisfying car to drive. Plenty of power and space for 5 adults (front center position is a squeeze). Trunk is immense.
Still Strong After 11 Years
I cannot believe how strong of a runner this car is. I purchased it from the original owner. Every option still works! It has a lot of power for the ride. I am very pleased with my purchase.
Cadillac: Like Nothing Else
Ever since I was three years old, my dad said I had always wanted a Cadillac. Now that I am actually driving one, I can see why. Cadillac is the standard of the world in the automobile industry. The Northstar provides superb power, while still delivering suprising fuel economy for a V-8. The interior is spacious, comfortable, and extremely user friendly. All controls are easy to access, and straightfoward labels inform the user of the control's function. Self service is even a breeze, with some innstructions placed in the owner's manual. The exterior is beautifully designed, with an agressive front end, and crisp, clean lines. I am completely satisfied with my Deville. Long Live Cadillac!!
Awesome Ride
Purchased the car with less than 10k on it and have put nearly 75k on it since then. The comfort and power are exceptional, as is the gas mileage. At nearly 24-28mpg, there is not another comparable vehicle even made today. No outrageous problems or issues with anything. It still turns heads and blows doors off of "wannabee's". Absolutely Awesome Ride. Hope to keep it another 10 years!
AWESOME CAR!!!!
I just purchased my 96 DEVILLE. She runs smooth, quiet, and stays where you put her. She hugs the road and loves to run. Very comfy, lots of room, lots of neat toys, potent little V8, every operation goes without notice.
MY CAR
love the engine but does use oil. drives like a sports car. Have replaced the middle arm rest twice in 6 years and needs it again. ac is slow to come on and still is on new models. Have slso replaced all 4 struts after 4 yrs-and that aint cheap!! love the rain sensor wipers .have owned this car 6 years and will probably get another new one soon but will miss the roomieness of the older models.
1996 Deville Issues
Inherited this vehicle from my in-laws and have spent the last few months getting in working order. Oil leaks that are cost-prohibitive to repair along with occasional over-heating (despite flushing of cooling system). Also, only about 10-12 MPG in city despite several fuel system treatments. Finally, electronic fuel display that jumps up and down several gallons within minutes.
Still love mine
I bought my Caddie in 2001 with 34000 miles on it. I know have 16000 and hope to make it to 250000. I still love this car. My occasional repairs have been expensive, but worth the investment. I hope to luck into another one in a few years.
I like it
This is my seocnd Cadillac and I'll probably buy more of them. I travel the interstates frequently. The ride is superb and the gas mileage very satisfactory. The handling is a dream; this is a sturdy vehicle. Surprisingly the repairs on this car are minimal and upkeep is very afordable. The color of my car - black cherry is unique to this area and I've received many compliments not only on the name "cadillac" but the appearance of this shiny ride.
Wow!
The 1996 DeVille is a fabulous machine! With the introduction of the Northstar powerplant, it really moves. Quite impressed with the 275hp and 300 lbs-ft torque. The interior is well appointed and very comfortable. Having the computer monitor all important functions is a great asset. I look forward to many more Cadillacs with the quality of this one!
Northstar meets spacious luxury
Some might consider the 1996 Cadillac DeVille too large, or a "gas hog," however the true enjoyment is experienced when making a statement driving down the road in superior comfort knowing you could "trash" 95% of the competition in acceleration and comfort. this car is one of America's finest.
Keep it or sell it?
I bought my 1996 Cadillac DeVille used in9/04. It had nearly 100,000 miles on it. I had problems right off with misfiring, which ended up being faulty plug wires (which had just been replaced??). I'm glad that I didn't have to pay for them! Also, the air conditioning didn't work. It took $200 to find a bad wire! Have put 20,000 miles on it since then without any major issues, which is a good thing because it costs a boat load to fix the thing! The previous owner burned 87 octane fuel and so have we-don't notice any performance difference even when we did try the expensive gasoline.
Muscle with Style
I just love this car. This Caddy runs and drives like new. I enjoy driving it. Unbelievable power and smooth acceleration
Better have deep pockets or skills
Bought my first and highly sought after Caddy. Almost half below market value but with an AC problem. $120 got me a small part and fill, AC works fine. Love to drive this beauty around and have fallen in love with the Northstar. Ive also won me a fair share of races, lol. But problems started occuring. Engine overheating (Was lucky enough to have friend fix), Serpentine belt (lost control of steering) $80, and just the other day the car would'nt start despite a full charged battery. Did I mention the car is now accelerating funny, transmission? So, If you are skilled enough to do your own work you are going to love this car. If you're going to considering buying, be sure to check history.
Reliability, Power & Good Mileage
This is our 3rd Caddy. Purchased this one 9 years ago when it had 26k on it. Now has 64k. (we have 3 other vehicles) No major problems at all. As with the other reviews, excellent power, can easily get 26-27 MPG. When it's cleaned and waxed it still turns heads!
Nice car
The only thing I wish that children's car seats fit better. We also have had many computer problems with this car, like speeding up on its own, overriding my options in heat/air control.
Cadi
The car is a very good car. The only down fall is that everything you do to it is expensive. All the parts you replace will cost you some money.
Cadillac evaluation
We have had a great experience overall with this car. It rides great, excellent road car, comfortable, very clean, only one very slight scratch. We have moved to city and wife is not comfortable driving it in close quarters. Currently is in need of an alternator. This is the only real trouble we have had with it. We recently replaced brakes and roters.
Cadi from Robbie
Been very comfortable; windshield replaced from rock damage in 1998. air conditioner repaired in 1999. Ex gas recycle valve replaced in 2003. Brake rotors were resurfaced in 2000. Routine maintenance been performed at dealership and on schedule.
good but not great
has good power but driving mostly around suburban area I get around 12-13 mpg. I have 140k miles on it and have a traction control light on for no reason. Also, service transmission because of a bad sensor and its not worth the money to fix because the transmission would have to be dropped out. Otherwise, I love the car.
Best Caddie Made
I have driven this car across country every year year from 1998 thru 2003. Its is unsurpassed in both comfort and power. At times I have driven faster than the posted speed limits. I have been buying Caddies since 1975. It's not my only or newest car but it remains my favorite.
i love this car
this is my favourite vehicle i've ever had it drives so smoothly i commute 50 mile a day and love every minute
1996 Cadillac Deville Concours
My 1996 Cadillac Deville Concours is an oil leaking POS I can't believe this car was $45,000 in 1996 I will never buy another cadillac again
1996 base - Great car
Great car, creme color, which is interesting, depending on lighting situation can appear white with tinge of pink, egg-shell, or light tan. Beautiful car, although the front end could have been a little designed more distinctive, kind of reminds me of a chevy with a cadillac emblem. lol. Runs great, good acceleration and breaking, I like cluster guages, right in front of your eyes, no looking all over dash for emergency lignts, wonderful seating, posh; There's just something about a cadillac, it's hard to verbalize, but you know when you are in one, that special feeling you get, especially with these older models. Very easy to drive and park. Maintence is expensive.
Cadi Luvr
The Deville is a great car. The performance is excellent and there is plenty of legroom. I bought it used with 46k on the odometer and not a scratch on it. The Northstar has more than enough power to get you to hi-way speed quickly. The seats are very supportive. The dash display gives all the information anyone could need on the car's status. Mine has the semi- convertible top and Cadillac chrome wheels. Cadillac for life.
Great Car
Solid, dependable, fast, decent mpg, impressive curb appeal, has many safety features for both car and driver, large trunk for suitcases while traveling.
Major Repair Experience
I bought with about 58k miles. Very good ride and fuel mileage; strong and plenty of power. Seemed the perfect car until 68k miles. Between 68k miles and 72k miles replaced transmission, air struts, and fuel injection pump. I rated down the reliability due to the mechanical failures, but now repaired, I am back to trusting it's dependability. The problems were caught before breaking down on the road. Transmission metal and seal fragments were found on filter and oil change; struts were flat and wearing rear tires severely and unevenly, and; fuel injection was causing erratic and surging RPM, and a couple stalls.
cadillac all day always...
I am eighteen and this is my first cadillac, but I've done a lot of research on this vehicle. My 1996 deville has high 93,000 miles on it but it still ride's like a cherry. over all I am very impressed with the car.
best car ever
this is the best car I have ever owned
Didn't know what I'd been missing!
I've had a few vehicles in my short life but I've never had a real fine automobile until I bought my Cadillac. It's easy to clean and always eye catching to everyone who looks my way. I'll always be a Cadillac Man!
