Used 1998 Buick Park Avenue Consumer Reviews
1998 Park Avenue
This car has given excellent service over the last four years. It has only had two major failures both of which had to do with the plenium (intake manifold) rupturing and dumping water on the pistons. Neither instance seemed to have harmed performance in any way. The only other problem--last week the power steering unit fell off. I do not remember any specific thing I may have hit in the road that could have broken the bolts, but the car has had a couple of jolts from things which I ran over at high speed. One of which was the recap off a truck tire at night. It did warp a rim. It's cranked right away (179,000 miles) and it has been a great road car.
Good Car
Very good car with amazing gas mileage for the size and build. My Father and Grandmother both have Buicks, (Dad's is a 92 Park Ave and Grandma's is a 89 Century). They both got great gas mileage, but not as good as mine! I get 34 highway and 26 city. It is a good heavy car that holds the road when driving and is good on ice with the automatic traction control option. The previous owner had the melted plastic piece on the manifold, but his warranty covered it and he told me if it happened again he would cover it personally. Haven't had one major problem with it and the former owner only had the plastic piece problem. 157,000 with only one problem isn't bad.

Grandpa Car is Awesome
Excellent car! I'll drive it till it turns to dust. very good gas mileage and extremely comfortable. Excellent functions and features. Only thing missing is cup holders and a power sunroof.
Enjoyable Car
Bought used after it sat for one year and had many problems that were fixed under warranty and those have not reoccured. Interior trim needs better attachments - snap ins do not hold, gave up on trim on side between front and back, exterior door handle broke, cassette player broke 2 weeks miles after warranty expired. Note on seatbelt - there was a recall.
1998 Buick Park Ave. Ultra
for a large car, looks sleek & fast. comfortable road car, gets 27 to 32 MPG on highway, 17 t0 18 around town. exceptional, effortless acceleration, very fast & quiet ride. transmission shifts smoothly & quiet.at 60,000 miles, no mechanical problems, totally reliable car. minus side, uses premium fuel, soft, mushey cornering, not a mountain racer. I would buy this car again, used, a great value.
