Best SUV I’ve driven...now own
This ‘professional’ review cons MPG but I just got a easy 28mpg on a 450 mile trip over mountains to NY ... 310hp .. two people with lots of luggage ... I call that pretty good. I got 23 MPG in a rented new RAV4 last year on same trip. When I hear ‘interior materials’ the red flag goes up that screams .. this reviewer doesn’t know what they are talking about ... I want to hear about galvanized body and stainless steel exhaust ... that’s quality... the Buick Enclave has both. My 14 year old Buick still looked and drove like new.... and I got 3 times ‘book value’. The Enclave rides better than the company car BMW X5 by far... smoother and more quiet. Have taken several 500 mile trips in my new 2020 Enclave ... the ride is extremely smooth and quiet ... the 121” wheelbase and 4300lb weight creates a ride no small SUV can come close to.... This is a true road vehicle ....And I’m getting 28mpg on the road! The 310hp V6 is quick... If you want a roomy ... quiet ... smooth riding road car that gets good mpg ... it’s a Enclave.

Luxury at a decent price
VERY quiet ride, loaded with technology that I’m still learning about. I love most every thing about it. I discovered 2 shortcomings that were available in my 2009 Enclave: the shade on the panoramic sunroof over the second row is now manual instead of powered; the front passenger window now does not now have auto up and down. The gear shift is a major departure from what was available in the past. It requires a moderate learning curve. The auto stop feature was active the first couple of days but now does not I’m not complaining, it’s just weird. The adaptive cruise is a blast as well as the lane departure warning and subtle correction. Both features should be standard on all trim levels. I have not tested the other safety features yet. Very satisfied with the car overall. Extremely comfortable and loaded with helpful technology. I’m looking forward to exploring and exploiting the rest of the technology.

Is Avenir worth it?
(Sep 2022) In Aug 2021 I traded a 2017 Enclave Premium for a 2021 Enclave Avenir. The 2017 was a fine car but I am pushing 70 and I wanted the safety features (cameras) of the Avenir. I should've bought the Avenir model the first time but I didn't know what I was missing. I'm a bang-for-the-buck shopper. The 2017 was on sale and now so was the 2021. I never see a foreign-built new car marked down by $10,000 or $12,000 but GM does. The other cars that I was interested in were new to the market, in high demand, and at full MSRP plus a premium. Subaru Ascent, Toyota Highlander, Nissan Pathfinder, KIA Telluride, etc were absent from the lots -- but Buick had cars and deals. So now I've had 13 months and 12,000 miles to drive the Avenir (I don't like to do reviews right off the sales lot). I took it on a 6,700 mile road trip. I traded from a black exterior to white. No real changes in interior/exterior other than more comfortable front seating (maybe GM improved the plumbing for the air conditioned seats) and a built-in phone charger. I gained the camera rearview mirror as well as front and side and trailer hitch cameras. The suspension is smoother and quieter with the magnetic shocks and there is a sport mode added to the tour and trailer modes. Gas mileage is 24-26/highway and 17-19/city. It's a big car but it doesn't feel that big. (I tested the updated 2022 Buick Envision Avenir-- nice, but a lot less car for the same price.) The lane-keeping assist works well without being as pushy as the 2017 model. Enclaves still have the flimsy, manually retractable sunroof shade. Since I rarely open the sunroof, it doesn't matter anymore. I would have liked AWD but GM doesn't seem to ship very many AWD equipped cars to the sunbelt.

Great car for the price but some features declined
Had a 2008 Enclave new. Just bought a 2020 Enclave. Interior items seemed to be diminished somewhat. Rear captains chairs are not as nice. Less standard features this time around. However the engine and transmission is much smoother and better tuned. I got the sport package with 20 inch rims and dark grille. Very nice look and great smooth quiet ride. GM was offering 5 k cash incentive plus other savings. I got it for 10 k off sticker. Could not be happier. 11k miles in and still loving the Enclave. Quiet and smooth ride.

Overall the best!
This is my second enclave, the first was damaged by a hit and run driver, I can tell you that this model is a classic road car. If you want smooth, supple, refined, classy, it should be your car. LOVE THIS CAR.
Not your Mom’s Buick
My wife and I recently traded our 18 Buick LaCrosse for a new Enclave because we needed more people room. The new generation of Buick vehicles have much better interior styling and build quality than past generations, with an almost German feel. Because of our Lacrosse, were already accustomed to the oddity of the transmission shifter which looks cool, but is incredibly frustrating if your not accustomed. The thing I like the most about the Enclave is that the dash layout is simple, intuitive and not riddled with a bunch of tiny buttons like many competitors. While not as inspiring as our LaCross, the driving dynamics are smooth and comfortable with throttle response that is somewhat spirited for a vehicle of this size. My only complaint is that engine noise is quite intrusive under acceleration but dies down to null once the trans has rowed through all 9 gears. Road noise is almost non existent. Overall the Buick Enclave is a very competent people hauler that may even make the other moms jealous at the next soccer match.

It is April 2024 and I am still loving my Enclave!
It is April 2023 and I have had my 2021 Buick Enclave Essence for two years & have not had any problems requiring service. I am enjoying the car and would purchase it again. I traded my 2013 Buick Enclave Leather in on a 2021 Buick Enclave Essence and am totally smitten. The car is so plush and rides like a dream. It drives and looks great. I looked at and drove many competitors cars and found the Enclave to be much roomier and more comfortable than the others. I have only had the car for a week and the gas mileage appears to be comparable to my 2013, but the salesman told me highway mileage will be better. UPDATE 9/23/21: The only thing I didn't like about my Enclave was lack of a bypass switch around stop/start. However, after much research, I discovered two methods to turn stop/start off: (1) controlling the a/c with the passenger side control and turning the driver side control off , the car won't stop running & restart every time it comes to a stop. Another option is to use the paddles to shift gears manually. When starting a drive, shift the gear into gear 9 with the paddles. The car will then use those 9 gears to automatically shift gears and Stop/Start will not activate until the engine is turned-off. Then, just repeat the process when the car is restarted. UPDATE: 4/2/22: Still enjoying my Enclave. Recently took my car on a trip and got 26.5 miles per gallon on the highway & 23.1 combines mileage with a powerful 6 cylinder engine.

Best buy
Just bought my buick enclave, awesome ride. Looked at other cars in its class decided on the Enclave, could not be more please. Wife loves the way it handles the road and the grands loves the space. It's an awesome vehicle buick you did your home work on this one. Oh by the way I bought the Avenir model.

In for repairs more than you'll drive
I have 356 miles on this 2020 Enclave as of today it has been in for repair 5 times. All for 3 codes. Flashes a service park brake light then check engine. Then youll get 3 messages steering assist reduced, engine power reduced, service parking brake. So far they have changed a battery, tightened a cable, replaced accelerator, and still after picking it up the 5th time drove approx 1/4 of a mile and yep all 3 came back again. Seems they can't fix the issue and the vehicle is un drivable.

Perfect Vehicle for a Typical American Family of 5
2 adults, 3 young kids. The Enclave is fantastic when it comes to cargo room (the reason I selected it above the competition). When we started driving, I realized that Buick is a wonderful brand-the engine is smooth and very powerful, the transmission is smooth, the start/stop system is scarcely noticeable and saves gas, the mpg is not bad, the gear selection is intuitive, the many tech and safety extras that I didn't expect make driving so simple and stress free. And there is so much room-my young clan loves it! There are also extra seats for family, friends, who wish to ride along. I highly recommend to anyone, particularly parents of young kids. In other words, a great car for the typical American family.

Smooth and silent ride , with great technology.
The Buick has come far. What used to be known as a grandpas car , the new generation Buick’s are very sleek, techy and luxurious. I recently traded my Honda Pilot for a Buick Enclave. The sales guy at the dealer ship said the difference between the two are night and day…..boy was he right. The ride, feel, technology and comfort IS like night and day.

Great vehicle
Superior ride, quiet, smooth, excellent power, high quality interior and exterior. Avenir grill was a much needed improvement from the old straight waterfall. All the room you need as well. I traded in an 2015 Acura RDX. Enclave Avenir is by far better value and gas mileage difference is negligible. I tried out a Kia Telluride and several other like SUVs. I honestly don’t understand the hype of the KIA. I’ll take the Avenir. I constantly hear consumer reports talk about cheap looking interior components on GM products. That is a fabrication in my opinion. I currently also own a Toyota RAV4 as a third vehicle. Neither the Acura nor the Rav 4 have any better interior components or fit and finish. DON’T drink that coolaide!

Ava2020 is awesome
The best description of the ride in the Enclave Avenir is that it glides. Great pickup, excellent braking, easy to understand dash and entertainment center. Luxury appointments all around. It has an abundance of space, heated/cooled seats are comfortable and infinitely adjustable, and the stearing wheel is heated. There is excellent visibility and the abundance of cameras enhance the visibility. The memory seating puts you exactly where you want to be every time. There is also exit assist for the driver's seat. You It is a pleasure to drive.

Very Satisfying Ride
It is big, quiet, and comfortable. Only negative is the "ideoit stick" transmission lever. Much rather have simple push buttons. It just does everything very well. Gasoline level gage is off by about 2 gallons.

Transmission
Last year I purchased a new 2020 Buick Enclave Avenir from the dealership. My transmission this September went out and the car only has a little over 13000 miles. It has been over 30 days since it was towed in for repair and I can’t seem to get any updates from the dealership or GM as to when it will be repaired. I originally fell in love with the look of my Enclave and the way it drove. But now I can’t wait to get it fixed so I can trade it. Bottom line…I don’t trust it to not have more issues down the road.
Great decision
I've had this 2020 Enclave Essence for over a week and the experience has been nothing but great so far. I replaced a 2016 Enclave and the improvement in this new version is noticeable. More comfortable ride, very spacious, way more technologically advanced, more gas efficient, more powerful engine. Basically there is nothing relevant I miss from the 2016. The finish and materials used in the interior are very nice and seem even better than some competitor's options I checked before deciding on getting another Enclave. It is too soon to speak about reliability, but I assume it is same or better than the 2016's which in my case was great since I did not have any issue for 4 years and almost 60K miles. If you want an attractive, spacious and comfortable 7-passenger ride, you should consider the Enclave.

Transmission failure after 6k miles
My brother bought a 2020 enclave with 5,000 miles on it. Don't know how that qualifies as new vehicle but he bought it as new. After driving it for a month, my brother and I when to Los Angeles to pick up some family members. on our way back the transmission failed!! Could not drive at all! Very dangerous situation to happen on the freeway!! We were very lucky that we didn't get hit. I truck barely missed us we pulled over to the right. It's been a week in the dealership and the only update is that it's waiting for transmission replacement. Also, my brother called GM for a buy back due the horrible experience his family had. And the lady was really rude and literally yelling at him. Was up with that? I only buy America made cars but after this, not anymore.

2020 Enclave
My 2020 Buick Enclave now has 20,000 miles on it. It has been back to the selling dealer 3 times for oil changes only. I have not had any issues so far. I have not been real happy with the way the transmission (9 speed) shifts, but can live with it.
Best SUV I have owned!
The 2021 Buick that I special ordered as front wheel drive took aprox 4 months to come from the factory in USA. This unit has corrected all the items I did not like about the 2020 Buick Enclaves programing ! The other Buick that I own is a 2019 Lacrosse 4dr. That is also a smooth driving unit.

Sound from Air leak in back doors
I bought a new 2021 Buick Enclave a month ago and at high speeds on the highway you can hear a loud humming noise coming from the back doors. The noise has become very loud. I think it is an air leak maybe from Something not well sealed around the doors. I made an appointment to come I for service and have it checked out. I just bought the car so should be covered under warranty. That is my only complain, other than that great car and runs very smooth. I will give another update after it gets fixed next week.

Great Car. Much needed updates
This is my third Enclave (2011, 2016). The upgraded technology is much needed. Interior looks good, yet not as nice as my 2011, yet better than the 2016. Ride is good and smooth. Vevehicles owned in 50 years.ry quiet, worth getting the under body sound proofing. Very durable and lots of room for traveling and family. Still one of the better
I love my Enclave
I didn't know anything about the Buick Enclave, I went to the GMC dealer for another SUV, my salesman said I needed to drive this. I drove it and bought it on the spot. Love, love, love it. It feels rich, the ride is incredible. My only complaint is no Sirius but they have iphone app and I can listen using my phone. Three row seating, over head air for three rows (I'm in Nevada, have to have good air) when not using third row in folds down to make incredible space in back. Power seats both passenger and driver. Great price.

Great car, but…….
Purchased car 202010, now 202107 has 6,800 miles. Overall the Enclave has been great, except for a couple of things. First just had to have the rear rotators ground due to grinding noise and grabbiness felt through the pedal. Seems a little early for that type of thing on a new vehicle, but it is what it is. Second, recently driving and engine powered down, the gauges cycled like when first starting the vehicle and the outside mirrors rotated into parking position. Fortunately got off road and parked. Shut off engine and restarted, everything working fine. So glad I purchased the 10 year extended warranty with all the electronics on this vehicle. No codes appear to have been thrown so will have to see if happens again. Updated 20230804 around 16,000 miles now. No reoccurrence if the earlier issues but the A/C is a little finicky and doesn’t cool as well as my wife’s GMC Acadia. But is more comfortable on longer drives for my larger frame (5’10” 250+). Updated 20240407 A/C still finicky, service unable to find issue. Still a very comfortable car but large for just a retired man and wife.

Buick Avenir 2021
Absolutely love my buick, I previously owned a 2014 Enclave, that had 140,000 miles with no problems. I love the new design of the 2021, interior and exterior. So many fabulous safety features, it is an incredible ride, with more horsepower. Buick knows how to make a great car.

Well-made and a big hit with the kids
I had the 2022 Enclave as a rental car for a couple of weeks, and I was impressed. Very quiet and comfortable to drive, driving over bumps and railroad crossings with minimal fuss. Plenty of convenient features, coupled with an intelligent, intuitive infotainment system, none of which ever felt gimmicky or distracting. One of the best 360-degree and backup camera systems I've used. Controls are pleasant to use and well laid-out, including on the steering wheel. (Take lessons, VW!) Even the auto-stop system, which I normally loathe, wasn't bothersome. Partly because it's quiet and barely noticeable; mostly because it's a rental car, so I'm not losing sleep over the longevity of the starter. My kids loved the captain's chairs, rear climate control, and wireless Android Auto, which allowed them to play music off my phone in the back of the car (while I could still see directions on the vehicle screen). The only sour note was having a dash partially covered with leatherette, with the rest being hard plastic. It looked weird and cheap; Buick should have at least done a better job color matching. At first I didn't care for the button-push gear selector, but it was never overly bothersome. I grew to appreciate it based on the storage underneath: I could fit a box of Kleenex there, keeping it reachable and out of the way! (Yes, it's silly to get excited about "Kleenex storage" in a vehicle costing $50k, but hey, I have allergies...) I'm not in the market for a vehicle this large, but if I were, the Enclave would be a contender. It's been a good couple of weeks driving it around.

Gravel Roads?
The door seals, Buick and possibly all other vehicle brands, that are put in to seal up the vehicle are cheap quality and do not keep the dust from gravel roads, or road noise from coming into the vehicle. We have had this problem with our Buick Enclave 2013 we owned and now the Buick Enclave 2020 we have. Cheaper materials, higher prices for the consumer but higher profits for the Buick company and all other vehicle companies that are out for the almighty extra buck they can make. We the consumers are the ones who suffer.

My Favorite Car
I love my new car, but I have only had it a little over a week. It is so roomy and the ride is quiet. The sound system is very nice and the technology is easy to use. I am getting better gas milage with this car than I got with my last, even though the last car was smaller. The interior is somewhat dark and I would have liked another color for the leather seats. The metallic paint is very nice, a dark red, and is the first thing my friends notice. I have owned Buicks before and this one is the nicest.

Disappointment
What I dislike about the 2020 Premium Enclave.......I do not like the 20 inch wheel that came with the SUV (they are rough riding transmit way too much noise and reduce MPG)......The dash design belongs on the cheapest Chevrolet ever made......the Bose is the worst sounding radio system I have ever had, The color of the car is not worth the premium we paid for it.....and the two rear mirrors do not even match the color......the seats are hard and uncomfortable and the track it moves on is always visible (cheap, cheap) the brakes make a grinding noise when we stop and it was called normal by the Buick Dealership and never fixed even though I showed them a TSB for the brake noise..,the front seats seem narrow and small (I am 5-10 and weigh 160) and if GMs continue to not allow us to check the oil level in the Transmission.....(the dealership will do it and take 3 hours while you wait and who will do that on a trip.....when you used to check it in less than a minute) That in itself will cause me to look elsewhere.....Buick you need to start taking care of your customers instead of telling us to see the Dealer, they do not represent you very well at all. I have more to say but that is enough ......Oh and I have a rumbling from the front as I drive down the road.... <br>

Best long haul vehicle I've owned
My wife and I purchased a 2020 Buick Enclave ST AWD new. In the last 4+ years we have driven it over 180K miles. It has been a fantastic, comfortable, quite and surprisingly fuel efficient road tripper and commuter vehicle. It has plenty of room for 5 adults and all our luggage. On multiple road trips we have have averaged nearly 30 MPG providing up to 600 miles of range on a single tank. The vehicle has been very reliable with replacing the alternator well past 100K miles being the only repair other than regular scheduled maintenance and the vehicle gave us a warning light before it caused us to be stranded anywhere. We are currently looking to replace it and are seriously considering another Buick Enclave based on our experience with this one.

Don’t buy this car
I have owned several SUVs and this one takes the cake. I rented one in Hawaii while on vacation and it was AWFUL. The gear shifter is almost impossible to use, it drives like a 1970s truck, has lackluster performance, practically no acceleration, is cheaply made, and given the price is not good value AT ALL. I have had a BMW X5 and a BMW X.3 and for the same price as this Buick they are VASTLY superior.

Great for family
We love the variety of options. Mama loves the luxury, dad loves the towing and AWD, lots of room for 4 kids. A lot more spacious than other SUV’s.
Boooo for Buick
The auto stop/start is extremely jolting; it feels like the car is stalling. Apple Car Play and audio in general cause constant problems. Accelerating power is very poor, and automatic transmission does not shift properly

Buyuk Clunky Differential
Love my 2020 Buick Enclave Avenir — EXCEPT for the annoying differential lag and clunk. Dealer had it for a week. Diagnosis: Kinda the same as other GM models…hard to believe. Too much money sunk in that I will never get out of it, so I’ll keep it, put up with it and hope it breaks before the extended warranty I bought is up. BTW it was a GM Certified pre-owned

Wonderful drive, no disappointment
This is the 3rd Buick I own, and it is the 6th Buick in the family. I must share that out of the 6 cars, none has given any problems at all. This Enclave is not a disappointment, rather a pleasure. This car drives smoothly as expected from the brand. And the new transmission on these cars, makes it even smoother. The cabin is very quiet and the materials are all soft to the touch. All of these makes it have a Premium feel to it. I am now living overseas, and I had this car brought here because Buick is not sold in the country. I did my research and luckily many parts from the Acadia and Traverse fit this car. Thanks God for the internet as I can order everything online if required. I am sure, thanks to this car, that Buick will be my next vehicle again.
