Best car I've owned

I would advise against buying this car if you don't have money for maintenance or if you can't do the maintenance yourself. I have been wrenching on cars for 30 years and have money set aside for maintenance, but I do all the work myself. It is extremely easy to work on if you have any mechanical knowledge. Parts can be pricey but I've saved thousands doing all the work myself. That being said, in the 2 years that I have owned it, it is my DD, I have only had one proper break down when a TPS sensor gave up. I drove it home in limp mode and replaced the part in 20 minutes. Make sure the car has documentation and service records before buying. I have the SMG transmission, which I love, but know that the SMG hates driving slow, especially in traffic or around town. Maintain the car and it will take care of you (saw a 300k mile car posted on ebay), neglect it and it will make you suffer. Suspension is stiff and can be jarring, especially when you have a hangover.

i've had this m3 for two years now. previously had mgb, porsche 911 and alfa spyder. car has all the creature features plus the performance. it is my destresser. love taking the top down and heading along the south florida coast line. only work done to it so far is oil change....expensive. new tires and sport exhaust with add on resonator. sound great. can't say enough about the performance. 3 liter engine with 330 hp. mine is carbon black with cinnamon interior. i paid $10,700 for it. have the window sticker which priced at $66,000.

Actually my BMW M3 convertible is a 2003 model, bedecked in the most stunning color of Phoenix yellow with awesome cinnamon interior. I always try to take "the longest way home" so I can drive my Bimmer more. I LOVE IT!

Excited, I turned the ignition in my carbon metallic black on black, loaded M3.After a long test drive, I was ready for all the performance and style.Behind the wheel, the thrill turned to FEAR OF STOPPING. Taking off at a light, from 1st to 2nd to 3rd gear the car morphed into Linda Blair in the excorcist. I don't mean the hesitation as SMG mimicks manual. The car bucked hard until I depressed the accelerator as behind me cars honked and screeched to avoid colliding. This still occurs randomly, with different drivers, in all drivelogic programs. BMW claims that this is normal for SMG. If so, the M3 is unsafe to drive in normal traffic.
