Great engine with a strong powerband, never runs out of breath, pulls strongly. I got the 2004 SMG coupe silver gray with black leather and under 4000 miles on it. Fully loaded except for the cold weather pkg. The SMG did take a little getting used to, but boy it is a rush! The M3 will beg you to unleash it, will cajole you with sweet engine humming saying everythings OK, just floor the pedal. And at gas stations, you can look at the admiration in peoples eyes. Truly a cult car, a true jock with enough space for 4 adults and for practical day to day driving and spirited highway runabout.

You've never driven a car this responsive. Found myself on the highway yesterday and thought I was doing about 65 mph, looked down, and the speedometer was at 90. That's not to say it's a smooth ride -- you feel the road. The SMG takes a little getting used to -- I thought I would be using the paddles more, but I find myself usually driving in automatic. Even in automatic mode, it still drives more like a manual. It's very quick. Corners like a dream. I got the Sirrius satellite radio installed, which is nice, but it puts a funny looking lump of plastic on the back of the car. The car does seem to guzzle gas, but you find yourself not caring.

I have had the 02 M3 cabroilet for just about a year. I traded a Porsche Boxter S. This is a far superior car - No contest. It is abetter & less expensive 911 cabroilet with more room, the same or better performance and SMG, which Porsche does not even offer. I have the 19" wheels but would get the 18" wheels if I had it to do over for the ride.

I find reasons to drive this car! Only 600 miles so far, so still in the "break in" period. Typical BMW quality, but this thing is a rocket. The car is simply made to be driven fast. Only complaint is why on earth BMW would build a $60,000 car and make the alarm system, garage door opener and 6 disc CD changer an "option....??" But that's a small price to pay for a great handling, truly fun car.

It's been about 6 months since I made that downpayment for my 04' M3. On September, my dealer called me to pick up my ride. Oh my god... Silver Metallic... Fully Loaded... I'll never forget that day I picked up my car from the dealer... No one dares to go ahead of you on the road. One of the police officer rolled down their window to shout "Nice Car you got there~!"

The 2004 M3 is one of the fines pefrormance automobiles on the market. Its high reving engine and SMG gearbox make you feel like your in a formula one racecar. Who can deni its 19in chrome alloy wheal, dual exaust, m sigrature grills and its low aggressive front grill. However, I'd like to see a change in the interrior in the next few years. The car does have some mild understear and feels heavy to drive. But other than that I strongly recemend this car to any one who seeks performance, agality, and abality becase the m3 is able to do any thing you want it to.

With 333 HP, the BMW M3 owns the stage. The beautiful SMG(Sequential Manual Gearbox) helped alot,'cus when I drive up the mountain roads, I don't have to worry about stepping on the clutch, in other words the SMG makes the Gear-up like automatic, but you could juice up the power like Stake-Shift. It is a very nice and romantic car to drive on,especially passing by mountain sides. The only downs of this car is the fuel economy, if it could be like a camry's fuel economy then that would be great. But who gives, the car is alreay great enough to let you forget about the fuel economy. I recommend this car to those who wants to have a blast of their lifetime.

Aside from having to wait close to a year to get my hands on the exact M3 I wanted, the men at the dealership treating me like a naive little girl, all the while failing to know as much about the car as I did & my M3's cute little habit of sometimes acting like a newly saddled bronco (i.e., BUCKING), I adore this car. I love the SMG & once you get in sync with it you'll be able to drive right through the random/periodic bucking (..I saw from an earlier review that I'm not alone with the bucking, good to know), heck, I look at it as a nifty little challenge, Like racing a thoroughbred, it's worth any mild troubles to be able to fly with ease, style & grace.

Press SPORTS and thats it.The fastest to date is 162mph with loads more power.I have a family with 3 children and we all fit in style + all the groceries.19" Alloys,Traction Control and the only M3 which has racing componants fitted make this car stick to the road like chewing gum to a blanket. If your life is dull? and you need excitment, compliments by everyone inc Mum and Sisters and a huge rush of adrenaline then just go and buy one.You won't regret it.Mine is Pheonix Gold with Black Nappa Hide. mmmmmmmmmmmmmm:)

I've waited 9 months to write this. Thats right, I've put over 17K on it already. Let's just say the heads are still turning everytime you drive by! There's never a boring moment in this car. Performance and Handling inspire extreme confidence. My wife gives me a hard time because the only thing people want to talk about is the "M". buy it again in a heartbeat. Go to the M driving school if possible. I thought I was pushing my car towards its limits on occasion...Wasnt even coming close! Only set back is, you cant drive another car without making a comparison, and they just dont come close!!!

Shear fun to drive. Can't beat a rag- top in the summer and its not too loud with the top up any other time of year. Definitely get the 19" wheels for grip! I bought 18" radials for winter and drive it all year round without much problem but I have the most fun with the "summer" tires. I get thumbs-up and stares everywhere I go and the car isn't really rare to see. The back seat is actually usable and I drive the kids to school often. I have owned 6 BMWs (4 different models) and this is the most fun of all!

Flawless performance, very reliable. Winters requires special tires, Dunlop wintersportM2/M3 are great. Car has a very stiff supension; You will not like it on Midwestern roads, but on good pavement its flawless. Car needs a different muffler system; It has a raspy sound under full throttle, could use the M5 unit. Nothing has gone wrong with car up to now. Recommend a careful break-in period; Many have ignored this and found out that it can result in problems at high RPMS.If you need something to motivate you and puts a smile on your face every day this car is it. Fear no challenges from anything on the road, the M3 will never dissapoint!

I just turned 80 and I Knew what to expect from an e46 M3 w/SMG; (drove a silver Coupe for 5 years before it got totaled) Just bought a pristine, carbon black convertible instead of a motorcycle. SMG requires smooth driving style to avoid jerky behavior that many people can't seem to learn to overcome. I would put my SMG up against any 6 speed manual, and when you switch to automatic, your wife can drive it. Otherwise, I set my shift pattern on 5 bars and paddle shift. Must have the correct limited slip differential fluid from BMW to avoid jerky shifts and grinding noises during tight turns. I replaced stock exhaust with Rogue Engineering rasp eliminator, and a Remus axle back muffler system..sweet mellow tone and no rasp. To enjoy top down driving at speed, you'll need a simple to install wind deflector.

You are able to experience true race car performance without sacrificing luxury. The only problem I face everytime I drive this car is staying within the legal speed limit.

I have rarely kept a car two years and not become bored with it, but with this car I can not wait to get out with the top down and let it go. The only areas that I would say I am unhappy with are the exhaust sound, and the upgraded radio.

Hands Down the Best riding convertible

Without a doubt, the best riding car whether the top is up or down. I have owned and test drove a number of different convertibles (SC430, CLK500, Mustang GT, Volvo C70), and this one clearly stands out. There's nothing like having a bad day at work, and at the end of the day, getting into the M and cruising home. It turns any day into a smile. The radio kicks butt too. Just as good if not better than the Mark Levinson system (lexus).
