An excellent automobile.
I have owned 3 BMW's, the last two were the 750LI's and now I am looking at the 750I. I have had no major problems at all. They ride smooth and handle well. I do not like the run flats so chuck those after 10K miles. I have AAA if I have a flat, but never have. So I love this car. Biggest down side is the value drops faster than brick from the roof of your house. New one's are mainly leased and the $50K loss in the first year can be someone else's problem. Buy a one to two old one with 8K to 15K miles with 2 plus years of warranty and you will have a winner. I drive them 4 to 5 years and just give to one of the kids, as it is still a great car. Only way to own a BMW 7 series or a Mercedes s 560. I had a Mercedes CL65 and it lived in the shop, so not going that way again. So buy a 7 series, feel like a king........

Hot, big, powerful, fun car
This is my second BMW 750i. The previous model was a 2015 and my current model is a 2018 with the M design package. All black exterior with zero chrome and brown interior - what's not to like! Both cars have been completely reliable and the local dealer's service is outstanding. This seems to be the general culture of BMW dealers. I also have a 2017 Range Rover and I sometimes have to wait for weeks for a service appointment and the cost of servicing that car is horrendous. So far as my Beemer is concerned - Pros: fantastic power from the V8 twin turbo engine. The handling has various settings. I have seen reviews where it is mentioned that the car lacks the road feel of the older models. The answer to this is to switch to Sports Mode and the ride becomes harder and the car feels like it is rocket-powered. What more would you need in a large, superbly appointed sedan? Cons: I can't really think of any, although my wife complains that the front should have more cubby holes and storage. My 2015 car had the regular wheelbase and the 2018 is the long one. There is so much space in the back that guests and friends often mention that they feel they are traveling in a limo. The front also has plenty of space and comfort and the material quality is outstanding. The car has tons of user technology, but after the first couple of weeks, I really only use the basics - climate, comfort/sport settings and audio. My 2015 model had electric blinds on the rear and rear-side windows, which were outstanding for here in S. Florida. My current model only has the rear blind and I feel that for this kind of money, the sides should be standard too. I will probably go for another 750i next time, but will also check out the Mercedes S Class, like I did last time.

Riding on a cloud
The ride is superb. It handles bumps and dips so that you hardly notice them. The performance is excellent— you step on the pedal and you get immediate and excellent response. I don’t know why buy a 750 with the V8 for $10,000 more. This 740xi listed for $92,000 with options. BMW charges a big premium for options—some of which should be standard but aren’t! I have had the car for 17 months and have driven it 12,000 miles. I have had no mechanical problems and no recalls! The interior is very comfortable and the legroom could comfortably accommodate very tall riders. At 35 months and 32,000 miles, the only changes in this review I would make is the BMW 740 is somewhat awkward to drive and to park. When turning right, the right rear wheels follow too quickly and hit the curb. This car seems “fragile”. Any little problem (not mechanical) is very expensive to remedy.

2017 BMW 750i 4.4L V8
Took my car in for its first inspection and was informed that the car would not pass. The tires were worn well past the allowable tread depth for passing the PA state inspection. The dealership informed me new tires and an alignment was needed for $2200. My car had 6200 mi. The shop service foreman told me I wasn't the only one complaining, many 750i's are "eating" tires. I only drive this car to dinner, events, visiting the kids, etc so the mileage was easy miles. The dealership said they would go back to BMW/Pirelli for a warranty claim. After 120 days, I recv'd a check for $440. In addition to the "tire eating option", the seat massaging option will start on its own and run through all of the options until it is turned off. Had numerous issues with the rear seat computer until a software update cured the issues.

The best full size 2018 luxury automobile
don't bother paying an additional $ 13,000 for the V-8 750i model......the 740i engine is powerful enough and the acceleration is great.....

great sedan
I love this car. I had been shopping for a sedan with a roomy back seat because it's hard getting in and out of the back seat of a 5-series. 5-series is a terrific car, but not for more than two adults. The 7-series fixes that and I no longer have to take out guests in my crew-cab truck to make sure that everyone has plenty of legroom. Auto manufacturers are all going with electronic gimmickry these days and BMW is no different. The 'swipe-or-twirl-to-change' feature should never have been developed or added; it's stupid, and BMW could have spent that $$ to standardize their collision-avoidance tech or hardware. The hot-spot works well depending on your carrier, I guess. No, the car doesn't handle or track like an E-30, but this is a big sedan and I don't think the people that buy the 7s are too concerned with how fast it hustles around COTA or the 'Ring. That's why you buy an M3. This car will provide a quiet, smooth ride for hundreds of miles at any speed you are comfortable driving. It is amazingly quiet and smooth at triple digits. I lease this vehicle, so maintenance and warranty and resale are not an issue for me. I think the car looks great as well. The car is well-proportioned and the styling is distinctive but subtle. I don't like the designs from Benz or Lexus or Cadillac and would not drive any of them. The interior is well laid-out and there are buttons and knobs for just about everything. There is a lot of technology and swiping if you want to use it, but you don't have to. Head-up display is better than just a couple of years ago. The lane position feature takes a little getting used to, but it is helpful and you can turn it off if you find it too obtrusive. Driving position is very adjustable and my 5-2 wife can get comfortable while my 6-1 self can also find a good driving position. Transmission is good and you have to pay attention to notice the shift points. Steering is light and road feedback is minimal, but again, if you want a track car, get an M2 or M3. The run-flats on this vehicle are surprisingly good despite the low profile and width. There's really only one thing that I wish BMW would add, and that is an audible alert (and a popup on the HUD) when one of your favorites comes up on satellite radio. Value is subjective. My dad sees cars as appliances and drives a wonderful Honda and loves it. On the other hand, he wears Hickey Freeman suits where I wear what find on sale at Dillard's. I am very happy with the car I have and I'm willing to pay what it costs for this level of comfort, quiet and performance. This is a great car and as Ferris said, 'If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.'

BEST CAR I'VE EVER OWNED OR DRIVEN
UPDATE ON OWNERSHIP EXPERIENCE AS OF 8/28/2017 I have now owned my 2017 BMW 740i for 8 months. The odometer reads 8,895 miles. The vehicle actually drives and handles even better than when I first bought the car back in December, 2016. I am averaging 21 mpg city, 36 mpg highway and 25 mpg combines highway/city. Remember, this is the inline 6 cylinder turbo delivering 320 hp and 335 lb ft of torque. The engine is more powerful and responsive that one would expect out of a 6 cylinder configuration - but with the turbo boost, the car accelerates rapidly even at 55 mph. It seems to have tremendous torque throughout most of the RPM range (1900 rpm - 5500 rpm). It has taken me many months to master all the technology offered in this vehicle - especially the drive settings (Sport, Comfort, Comfort Plus, EcoPro, and Adaptive. Most of the time, I keep the car in either EcoPro, as it is the most fuel efficient setting, or in Comfort. I rarely press the Sport mode as it is the least fuel efficient. I've driven from Ft. Lauderdale to just south of Jacksonville, FL and back twice since I've owned the car. Most of the driving is at 70-75 mph and the distance is 300 miles each way. The car rides and handles beautifully. I especially like the Adaptive Cruise and Self-Steering modes as it makes the drive much more comfortable, not to mention safe. Another feature I have really enjoyed is the 360 degree camera angles when parking the car. Here in South Florida, we do not have much in the way of parallel parking - most is just pull-in parking with a parking stoop in the front of the car. I use the 360 degree cameras so I pull into the parking spaces straight rather than at an angle. The sound system is magnificent, especially when listening to FM HD music stations or DVD's. I use Apple Car Play all the time and it streamlines Bluetooth calling, text messages received and readouts of those text messages. I usually buy a new car every year but I have no intention trading this one any time soon. This one is a keeper! The only problem I have had with the car was with "inadvertent trunk opening"! After bringing it in the dealership twice, they said one sure-fire solution to this anomaly is to reprogram the car's computer so that the trunk cannot be opened with the key fobs unless the car doors are unlocked first. So we did that and I have no more inadvertent trunk opening problems. I still can open the trunk without the key fob by moving my foot under the rear bumper or by pressing the trunk release just above the license plate frame. So this is a minor inconvenience - having to unlock the car before using the trunk release button on the key fob - but it has not affected any other trunk operations. I do not know when I will be in the market for another new car, but I am sure it won't be for a few years and I am sure it will be another BMW 7 series. For the money, it is the very best large passenger sedan built. Sure, the Mercedes S Class sedan is a great vehicle, but in my opinion, not worth the $15,000+ more than the 740i with all options. I still recommend that if you buy one of these vehicles, that you make sure you add the Driver's Assistance Package, the Driver's Assistance Plus Package, the Executive Package and the Parking Assistance Package for the 360 degree camera views. I also recommend the 19" wheels. Remember, the car comes with run-flats so you have no jack or spare tire. If I had to do it all over again, I probably would not get the run-flats if I could and would add 19" Summer Performance Tires. I believe it would produce a better ride with better handling. Still the best car I've ever owner or driven!!!

Insulate yourself from the world
Air suspension puts the car in the pantheon of Rolls Royce and Bentley. Self driving features are a pleasant surprise. Interior is symphony of plush materials and exquisite details. The nightime visuals of the interior are an alternate reality. Tech and gadgetry can overwhelm the uninitiated. I ralleyed against this car my whole life as a long time BMW enthusiast. I thought, who would buy a 7 series but an old geezer? On my third 7 series at age 52. Life can teach you what you haven’t learned. Privelage to arrive anywhere in a 7 series.

2018 750i x-drive
OK car. Very expensive car, but lots of depreciation at 2.5 years made it affordable for me, about 1/2 MSRP.. Not as sporty as the 2009 I had, but do enjoy the adaptive and sport suspensions. The auto-drive system is jerky and requires a lot of attention. Better sometimes to drive without lane-keeping engaged. Cockpit seems smaller than 2009. I don't care for the nav screen sticking up either. And the seat belts are difficult to fasten because the buckle receptacle is too low on the side of the seat (PITA). Finally, there seems to be a lot of droning road noise but it could be the Pirelli run-flat tires. However, there have been ZERO problems with this car.and the engine and tranny are SMOOTH. Also mileage on the road is good, over 25 mpg many times, up to 32 mpg a couple of times. Fast car, step on it and it goes. Cruise at 100 is no sweat, just have to watch for the police.. . 6/27/22 Have owned the car almost 2 years now. My original review still holds. Still no problems. Good thing, because the nearest BMW dealer is about 200 miles away. That's a problem with living in a small town! Car is a good car, but I question its value. I mean, is it really worth 133k retail? Obviously not, or it would not depreciate so fast. That said, it's still and will always be a fast cruiser, and that's why I bought it. I'd recommend NEVER buying a new one unless you maybe pay cash and want to keep it. I also wonder if it's really in the class that the MB S550 occupies. Sportier perhaps, but not as luxurious. But then the MB costs a lot more. In short, still like the car. The 750 has improved in quality and reliability over the years. Fast and enjoyable! 12/29/23 Car has still not had anything go wrong. but now that I have slightly more than 36k on it, I expect something to happen at any time. Still runs good and cruises good. Space in rear compartment is wasted since no one ever rides there. The old 750i with a shorter wheel base was better. I still question the value, but is there ANY car that's worth the cost anymore? Trade-in is now around 30k but I'd never sell it for that -- couldn't replace it for that price. So I'll keep it for a while.

Outstanding Ride and Petformance
Test drove the M550. Loved it. Then I saw this reasonably loaded Black Saphire 750i with M Pack. When I test drove it I was sold, the ride, room and performance were staggering. For such a big car she didn’t feel much bigger than the 5 series. The M550 clearly was the better performance vehicle, but I live in South Florida where the most exciting road is the off ramp of the I75. The 7 series with the improved fit and finish, reduced noise levels and a huge price reduction made it just a $150 a month more than the well equipped M550. It’s too soon to comment on reliability, but I have had many BMW’s over the years and only one I would consider unreliable. Expecting miles of serene highway cruising, with a significant and effortless shove in the back when needed. Outstanding vented and massaging seats and some very clever driver safety aids.

Overall value is not worth it
Paid 102k for the car (2017) It has 38k miles on it...maybe worth 46k (2020) Never any issues with the car, I made sure to get full warranty because every little thing in this car is a arm or leg...sometimes both

DO NOT BUY - lots of minor electrical issues
I have had several 7 series, and I usually love them because they drive well, have beautiful interiors, and great technology. Unfortunately, this model is terrible. If you go to the lots, you will notice lots of year-old, low-mileage used cars... that's because people are having so much trouble with them. Mine has been in for repair 4 times in the first 4 months. The car will flash and display warnings, systems will shut down, it 'bongs'... literally will drive you insane. It has already been recalled once, too.

Wonderful ride but at too high a cost
Bought a 2019 740i in January 2022 from the BMW dealer. It runs really well, supremely comfortable, good fuel economy. I did make a few more trips to the dealer than I was expecting to though due to various electronic issues, but as i bought the extra two years warranty it was not a financial burden. Recently the car let me down in a very busy area where the sensors to detect obstacles went nuts and I was stuck obstructing traffic. I loved this car but have traded it in for a Lexus (at a major depreciation expense) as I want my car to be problem free
value of car is horrible
wanted to trade in and they being bmw offered $42,000 for a 2017 model year with 11,500 miles and sticker on car was $101,250

Luxury at its Best
I can not give this car the review it deserves. But so far this car is phenomenable. It is new and I have not had time to evaluate everything you want me to answer. It does everything but drive itself. I am still learning the many capacities of this vehicle. If I did not check Great-it simply means I have not gotten that far tested or evaluated that aspect. (This statement is still valid). I have no idea of MPG of gas. I fill up at the half full mark and drive). 3Jan 2020 The car has been reliable so far. I have no complaints at this point. I feel that the technology (from what I have read) is right on point. I am still enjoying my car.

BMW's 750il definitely a okay. no go
This is a purchase where your money is going to go down the rabbit hole. In my opinion, resale value is going to be very low. The day when you drive it off the lot, that's probably going to be a 30k hit. When you get hot about that, the letdowns and breakdowns, don't expect that air conditioning in it or the loaner car to cool you off. The air conditioning in these years models is a joke. Constantly hot in the cabin even with the air conditioning set at 60 with an outside temperature of 78 degreesdegrees Fahrenheit. if you live in Southern California, this is that boy I warned ya. I guess that's how they get the mileage rating and the cabin temperatures up. Yeah I'm hating on that driving around with the windows down. The air conditioning is not designed, engineered, nor built rite. guess I'll only be driving this car at night. The older models, ie, circa 1976 thru 2000, were extremely reliable transportation. The AC would cool the entire cabin to a refrigerator temp, with 4 people in it, in 105° Las Vegas heat. Those were built rite n tite. When the rare to occasional mechanical issue arose, obviously it was fairly expensive to repair. But my Cadillac probably has similar costs. Something I've never experienced with the Caddy, it never breaks down. Even with over 225k miles on it, and 10 years of daliy driving. It's air conditioning is as effective as a freezer. Routine Maint, is all I have ever had to do to that car. So, in a moment of sheer ignorance, influenced by bmw marketing hammering everywhere, I decided to purchase a 750il. This car is absolutely undoubtedly hands down, the worst purchase of a vehicle I've ever made since 1970. An incredible amount of money to spend on a vehicle that's less reliable than a 1980 Chrysler k-car. This 750il IS highly unreliable, the engineering of driveline components is a joke. Sealed transmission, no way to change transmission fluid as an example. BMW's solution is a new transmission. Stay away. My best advice. Under 2 years old, and under 12k mileage, it has been in for 3 recalls so far. The dash and center cluster go dark randomly. After a few restarts, 50/50 chance it comes back up. The car is still drivable when this occurs. Fasten seatbelt lamp and the incessant pinging occurs when you do have your seatbelt fastened. Another random event built-in to infuriate you whilst driving. Be careful to get 1 manufactured AFTER July 2017, otherwise, you cannot have apple play. I got rat screwed by 1 month on that issue. It was just in for routine maint. An oil + filter change, visual inspection of fluid levels, and a diagnostic check. That will set you back $1085, Unless you bought the extended warranty. I was told prior to bringing it in for routine maint, it was a 2 hour process. for a car in this price range, it is completely ludicrous that BMW cannot communicate with the cars' 2 computers, to see what needs to be addressed during service intervals. But hey, I can get a concierge at the push of a button. Something I'll never use. except maybe when I'm broken down on the side of the road sweating my ass off. Breaking down on a freeway in Southern California, after Dark, is probably a death sentence. A drunk is probably going to smack into you at 80mph, even if you're in the breakdown Lane. I can't tell you how many times I've seen that occur. Reliability is the number 1 priority when I buy a car. When checking the car in for service, I was told that time frame was 2 days, instead of 2 hours. The recalls were software updates to Driveline computer, 3 so far, and a cooling system recall. When I drilled down on the cooling system recall, that was replacement of both turbos, and it's cooling line hoses that WILL leak eventually, sooner than later. When I picked it up, it was 3 full pages of service work performed on a 20 month old car with no more than 12k milage on it. And I do not drive it like my Corvette. That impressive rocket ship hasn't been into the shop in over 5 years of brutal punishment when the need 4 speed arises. Stay away from this 750il. It won't treat you nice, but will hammer your wallet and your patience very well. Near as I can tell, From the full parking lot in the BMW service shop, every one of these 2015 to current year vehicles are going to fail miserably. Note to BMW. you should go on an engineer hiring spree. Most qualified, will have worked at GM. After all, GM gives their prototypes to the engineers as daily driver cars. And that's after 5 years of a very careful evaluation on their test track. That car company doesn't want to see 'em come back for service. They don't rely on service receipts 2 stay in biz. if I were on the board of directors of BMW, I would terminate all Senior Management, and replace them with experienced Visionaries from GM. if you don't want to immediately ruin your brand. Which is absolutely unequivocally what is transpiring now.

Excellent, yet not as flashy
My 2019 750i is my 3rd 7-series and my husband drives an S550 Benz convertible. We often compare which of the two luxury cruiser we’ll drive, but for long distances, we prefer our BMW. It is as luxurious but without being noticed. The 750i drives like a sports sedan, but still enjoy the luxury interior and the technology is top notch. I personally like the dynamic cruise control and the moonroof with choices or colors great for night driving. The power too reminds me our 2004 Bentley V12 coupe…

Basic Executive Sedan
7 Series is getting old and needs a mid-life facelift to refresh the aging looks. The main rival Mercedes S Class interior and fit and finish is superior to the 7 Series. Besides the leg room in the rear, the 7 series does not look any different or offer much more than the 5 series, yet you pay much much more. The exterior design needs a refresh as the rear of the car looks very bland and not as imposing or luxurious as the previous model since the introduction and time is not helping it. I love the fully adaptive LED headlights on the car but in order to take advantage of the full affect, you need to code the car as the car comes decoded from Europe. A car in this class needs to offer the newest technology available, such as laser lights. The navigation is not very accurate in some areas and the real time traffic does not work perfectly. Hand gesture control is just a gimmick that you won't think about after you initially try it once or twice. You need to get the massaging front seats to fully feel the luxury in this car. It is very quiet and handling is very good. The run-flat tires makes the suspension feel harder than it is on bad road surfaces. Big and useable trunk. Not too many color choices outside or inside.

Closest sedan to a Rolls Royce !
Absolutely Exceptional! I have owned over 80 cars personally, true enthusiast. This automobile is a masterpiece. The B58 Engine it’s perfection that’s built to last . The interior is made of the finest materials and the carbon structure body it’s such a complexed design that results in a perfect composure of the vehicle and weight distribution. Front Passrnger Seat is UNCOMFORTABLE
The front passenger seat is NOT comfortable on long trips. The headrest can’t be adjusted, so I added a Samsonite travel pillow between seat & headrest, as the headrest hits in a way that’s not only uncomfortable, but not safe, at all. The backseat & drivers seat have massage, and all different ways to adjust for comfort, but not the front passenger. Quite puzzling to me. It doesn’t have lumbar support, and the only adjustment you can make is forward, back, recline, sit straight up. It’s very frustrating to have spent so much money on a vehicle, and one of the 2 seats we use the most is no better than riding in a school bus when I was a kid.
Amazing car!
