When we got the A4 avant for my wife a year ago,we knew the car was a beauty, and we suspected great built quality, and we got it. What we did not know is that the 1.8turbo matched to the 5 speed auto is almost slow, noisy at high rpms, and very thirsty for so few inches. Why offer this combo to such unsuspecting public?I know the torque is excellent and that there is almost no turbo lag,but pleeeeaaase, at 37 grands out the door,we deserve better performance!. Apart from that,it is very comfortable, handles beautifully, and a very pleasant place to spend time in ,unless you are going up a slope, fully loaded, with the dog in the back.

Great convertible cruiser...

The Audi offers the best cabin by a mile - its interior quality is the best in this company. The only let-down was the persistent creaky noise that came from the convertible top in my test drive car, which had about 3k miles on it. But that's something bound to happen with all convertibles sooner or later, and usually can be fixed with a little WD40. Dynamically, the Audi seems surprisingly sluggish at times. A look at the car's weight figure gives a hint as to why that might be the case. On the other hand, that weight results in a very planted, very good ride. It's the least crashy in this company.

Bought my first convertible three years after moving to CA from NY. Second Audi and I picked it over the BMW, Saab and Mercedes for the style and build quality (the Mercedes, especially, felt very cheap). I don't find it as sluggish as some reviewers, but didn't test roadsters, so have no basis for comparison. The fit and finish are exceptional and the seating surprisingly comfortable (I'm 6'2") for a convertible. Overall, very impressive car. Great engineering!

This is the first convertible I have owned and I love it, especially the one button ease of raising and lowering the top. The interior is gorgeous (red leather with black dash, headliner and carpet). The CVT is silky smooth and produces surprisingly good gas mileage for a V-6 engine. The Bose stereo system is terrific. The trunk is very generous for a convertible. The back seat is roomy. It can seat two people comfortably. I love the car's exterior - it is truly beautiful.

This is a magnificent car in just about all respects. The only negative comments I have is that it the 1.8T Quattro is a trifle slow off of the light and that the engine is a little louder (but not loud at all compared to other autos) than what I anticipated in a luxury auto.

As I'm in my 50's now, I've driven many different types of vehicles but mostly Japanese, including Lexus. The ride of this vehicle supersedes by far anything I have owned or tested in performance, comfort, handling, and confidence. As I explained to a friend, this car could die on me tomorrow, and I wouldn't care because the time spent with it already has provided enough pleasure for a lifetime. Buy it, you won't regret it.

I've owned it for 14 months and its been out of my posession for 47 days for mechanical rasons. 38 days for ignition coil(s) problems, 4 days to replace a faulty catalytic convertor and most recently, 5 days to replace a failed fan regulator module. Audi customer service takes a week to call me back to tell me they've decided to continue to service the car under the terms of warranty. I gotta a lemon folks and Audi doesn't want to make it right. Now it's my lawyers turn.

I've had my Moro Blue Beauty for less than 24 hours, and I've already put 250 miles on her. So far, it's met/exceeded my expectations. The 1.8T with CVT is surprisingly strong (and I used to drive a Lexus IS300). With the top up, the cabin is serene. Top down ride is comfortable. My only regret is that my car came with the Sports Package -- the stiffer suspension may cause unnecessary squeaks and rattles, especially in a convertible.

Just got the car last month. Awesome!! Had some aftermarket performance enhancement done by Joe Hoppen in Sarasota...now the 1.8T delivers 220hp and 230lb-ft torque. The CVT is awesome-so smooth, although I also have driven the stick (wonderful as well). Premium sound system phenomenal. When I drive normally, I average over 30mpg.

This was my 1st (and last) Audi after many VW's. I've had nothing but troubles. Numerous electrical problems (too many to list) the dealership either can't or won't fix. Interior is cramped. I'm 6' tall and 200lbs and have to wedge myself in and out of the car. Driver's side leg room is very bad. Center console digs into my right knee. Cup holder and glove box are totally useless. Interior knobs and parts have broken, melted, and fallen off. Exterior parts fall off. Tires wear unevenly and one is bald after only 30k mi. The dealership laughs at all the problems I report every time I bring the car in for service. Luckily it's a lease and I will be happy to pay the aquisition fee to give it back.

Germans try to put too much technology. Car acts like it knows more about me than myself. It starts when it thinks it's good time to start. Heat comes on only when car thinks it's ok to warm me. Too many damn sensors that don't do their job right. Too many parts made out of plastic that keep breaking. Control panel buttons fade away and hard to figure out what they do without a manual. Extremely hard to work on. Worst piece of junk I ever owned.

This is a fabulous car. Audi really raised the bar with their latest version of the A4 . First of all, it is one if the best looking mass-produced vehicles going. (Why would anyone buy the A6? There's not THAT much more room.)Its design elements are in perfect balance - inside & out. The sport suspension works great (its hunkered-down stance looks fabulous too). Very, very nice car. Get one.

As much fun to drive this car as, as much as the oil leakage does hurt your budget, so far I did spend close to 6000$ on this car in repairs, and yet the issue of oil leak was not fixed. and I was last called by the dealer to tell me, it needs an engine rebuild and this will cost me another 3000-4000 $ and they are not sure if it will solve the massive loss of oil ( more than a quarter of oil every 900 miles )

My first mistake was to start the car. Now I know German cars need care, but this car was at the dealer for 150 days (45 in a row) for all sorts of issues. Audi USA sent me to 4 dealers before they sent someone for Germany to take a look, they kept saying I am having a unique experience - guess I am blessed. The team from Germany spent 2 weeks rebuilding it, however, that did not stop the electrical issues. Audi USA now says I can go anywhere I like. Audi does not stand behind the product. If they just took the time to offer a customer service experience I'd might take another chance.

If you are getting a warranty than it's a nice car, but without a warranty you may be getting into something you can not afford in the long run. My car has the infamous sludge build up and my engine is now seized. Either pay 6,000 to replace it or get into an upside down loan for another 5 years. With that being said minus the sludge and the bad engine I did have some good time in this car.

I purchased this Audi A4 about 18 months ago, and i have loved it! It's a blast to drive, super comfortable, and amazing in snow! But all this does come with its down sides. About every month it seems like something else breaks on it, from the alarm horn, to the Ignition coils, to the gauge cluster, to the ignition read coil, to the water pump, and timing belt. These are fun cars, but they cost A LOT to maintain! Be prepared!

Awesome car, perfect in nearly every way, and with a price near many cars of lower quality or features it simply can't be beat. The car is a blast to drive with a slick and smooth transmission a strong economical engine, and great steering the car always asks for more. With a beautiful interior made of quality materials everywhere, the inside is bacially the most comfortable and safest vault ever. A new and sporty exterior it's good looking from basically every angle without using cheap graphics or cladding to attract your attention.

I've owned this A4 for 2 years now and I am still not sure about Audi. I really like the car handling in all conditions. The Quattro system is excellent in all conditions. However, the engine power together with the auto transmission feels short on acceleration ability. Gas mileage could be better (23 mpg overall) for a car this size. I was disappointed with the reliability of this car but even more with the ability from Audi dealerships to find the issues. They replaced the throttle assembly 3 times (!) before thinking the issue could come from somewhere else (cracked plastic cover that messed the ECM box). I also had to replace the steering rack (leak) and two noisy wheel bearings (rear).

This is my first car purchase and I am deeply impressed with the exceptional service I have received (so far). The dealer (and Audi) both were very gracious and accommodating in helping me through this process and they bent over backwards to give me a great deal. If they keep this up, Audi will have my business again for many years to come… The styling is OUTSTANDING. You can tell that Audi used quality materials on this car. I bought a Dolphin Grey A4 and I turn heads everywhere I go! Audi knows how to make a classy looking car. Also this car is a compact and can fit into tight spaces, but you’d never know by its roomy trunk and interior.

I love this car. I was considering the BMW 3-series, but the Audi was less expensive with basically the same features, except the BMW I was looking at did not have AWD. It handles great in the snow and ice. It also handles well with five passengers in the car and I was running the car at 120mph! The only problem I had with the car is that it did not have power seats. I expect that feature should be on a $30,000 car. It comes as an option but a delayed introduction and only on the driver seat. Audi should have also painted the lower panels of the car like the A6. I think it's very ugly. Now I'm forced to buy a bodykit for the car to make it look better.

Wow, I will probably buy another Audi, but I will do so more informed. The car is a thrill to drive and relatively good on the gas with out a lead foot. That said it takes premium fuel to push this wagon. Don't believe you can sub 87 octain every now and then, it will foul the spark plugs. If you are a DITYer be careful driving this car on to a hydraulic lift, the sport suspension does not allow enough clearance to prevent high centering. I bought this car used in Oct '06 for about 16.5K two years later it is at least as valuble as what I still owe.

My A4 has 170,000 miles and is still running beautifully. It is fun to drive, comfortable, and not half bad looking either. Has run flawless its whole life (It has been maintained exactly when suggested by Audi). Will replace the timing belt again soon, though the manual says every 100 or 105k from what I have read it should be replaced every 60- 80k as that is when it is said to break. Build quality is in a whole different class, the car is amazingly sound and solid. Manual shifts smooth and precise. Gas mileage is anywhere from 23-24 city to 30-31 hwy. Quattro is awesome too!!!

This 2002 Audi Avant Automatic with an average of 17mpg. I can do straight highway and still only get 20mpg. Now the sticker says I should be getting 19 city and 28 Highway. But that is a bold- face lie. NO!, I wish Audi would post an accurate MPG on the sticker so buyers would be aware of what cost they are getting into. Another feature i don't like is the oil changes at 10,000 mile intervals. The dealer does not know if I have motor oil or synthetic? Services are supposed to be free for 4yr or 50,000 miles. mmm I used to change my oil every 3000 miles.

I recently test drove this car. Overall it's a solid car, very well built and attractive. It's very smooth and has good power, very comfortable driver. Unfortunately it left me wanting in terms of performance. While power was good, handling was not. It just didn't feel like a driver's car, lost it's composure too easily under hard turns. I also wasn't too fond of the interior, there are too many buttons all over the place making it look busy, and the rest of the interior is just rather plain. It's a good comfortable car, but not a driver's car.

The Audi A4 is a blast to drive. Its amazing that a 4 cylinder can feel so much like a 6. This car has the power to get up and go. But, sometimes it does lag. The car is comfortable, with really nice features. The attention to detail Audi did with this car is nice. The car looks great...and is a real bargain for under 30K. The only bad things are that you dont have power seats or stereo controls on the steering wheel.

This is my third Audi A-4. The 2002 upgrade/update is impressive. Every detail is significantly improved. For the price (under $30,000), there is no better car (and that includes the BMW 3- series, Infiniti G35, Lexus IS300, Saab 9-3, and Volvo S60--my wife has one of those). I love it. Plus, the warranty is better than anyone's. Read the fine print. In short, if you can find one, BUY IT!!! I have driven over 100,000 in my A-4s so I know what I am talking about. Dr. Keller

Sport package is factory lowered. Factory tires (Dunlop SP 9090) are not the best for the snow even in all wheel drive A4. 235/45/17 all weather are pricy, but 2003 models offer Pirrelli 4 season tires that are awesome for any conditions. 2002 chips to increase boost (over 200hp and 240 toprque) are still in development by many vendors. Some offer them, but be carefull

I love this car. I live up in ohio, where we have all the season to enjoy, and this is the perfect car for it. From blasting through the snow, to opening the sunroof, and flooring it on the freeway on a summer say, this car rocks!

The car is extremely stable, quiet and fun to drive. AWD is the icing on the cake. A lot of people complain about the 1.8T engine as not "powerful enough"; I contend they should have bought the 3.0 V6 then. The 1.8T provides more than ample power and has plenty of go.. but it's not a 220 HP v- 6. Compared to other entry level luxury cars, I feel the 1.8T with 5 speed manual is one of the better offerings. Ride and handling are very impressive. If your looking at any entry level german cars, you should at least drive an Audi. It's not for everyone, but I sure do like mine

Great car, but reliability issues

I bought this car certified used with 43k miles on it. I have driven Lexus, Acura, Infiniti, BMW and Mercedes. In general this is a great and solid feeling car. Outstanding interior which I like even better than the new models. Strong performance (acceleration a little light), and fabulous in the snow. Great car when things are working. Some reliability issues. Car got stuck in tiptronic day 1. Received flats on 3 of 4 pirelli tires that came with. Antenna had to be fixed, wipers got stuck vertical on windshield, had to replace brakes, fix broken wiper fluid tube, and engine steamed up once. I have never felt that the car would stop running on me, but things always need to be fixed.
