Poor technology /infotainment system

I’m new to the Acura family having driven Infiniti SUVs for the last 10 years. I fell in love with the drive and appearance of the new 2022 MDX while car shopping but my frustration with the technology system over shadows the positive attributes of the car. Like another reviewer has shared, the glitches with the infotainment system are extremely frustrating (and dangerous to deal with while driving). The Apple car play randomly disconnects. Sometimes it comes back on 20-30 seconds later, sometimes not. When it does not connect again, you need to manually reconnect it. For some reason I can not use my phone at all when connected to car play. So when I am a passenger in the car, I can not use the phone at all, otherwise the XM radio turns off (I’m not trying to play any audio or video on the phone, just checking email will turn off XM). There is some issue with Waze. I can not connect to Waze once the car (and car play) are on. I have to turn off the WiFi on my phone so as to disconnect from car play in order to be able to use the Waze app on my phone, then turn WiFi back on and I will be asked if I want to connect to car play, and then the Waze works they car play. I’ve taken it back to the dealership twice. The second time they did a hard reset of the system (described as manually disconnecting the wiring from the system and then reconnecting). I’m still having the same issues described above.

Little back story purchased mine on March of 2021 owning the vehicle for 2 weeks the radio went bad turning on and off 2 months pass by the battery went bad then another 2 months pass by the starter decide to leave stuck in the middle of the road at a light ! 2 months pass by the radio amplifier went bad 1 month goes by the front passenger shock starts making noise yes the car has warranty and was serviced by Acura! But today the braking system lights are on as well as the low speed sensors my dash looks like a Christmas tree called Acura main branch to explain that this car came out a lemon all the day is it has warranty. I explained that the total investment in this MDX is 38k out of the 61k they told me at the dealership they can buy it back but I will lose that 38k to start another finance on the 23 model looked at him and laughed! Buyers Please beware for those new Acura MDX they are lemons !!!

Overall I love the look and despite what others might say about the infotainment system it served me well. The only complain after 1 year and 12000 km is the rock chips getting stuck on rotors backplate. I would say at least 20 times, getting stuck for on average 3-4 days. And it makes the car sound like trash Finally decided to take it to the dealer and they said they will have to take it apart everytime and there's nothing they can do about it.

I sold my Audi A6 for this 2022 MDX AWD SUV with the Tech Package to hold my wife's walker/wheelchair - which it does with no problems. This is my first SUV. After driving all the competition from Porsche to MB, Audi, Telluride and Pallisades, Highlander, X5, XC90, etc. this is the only one in which my wife and I were both comfortable. The seats are great and we can drive all day with no pain - better than the Audi. Although the seats are not ventilated in the Tech package, they are perforated and my back does not sweat. The much despised infotainment touch pad is actually good. I have shoulder problems and not having to lean forward and reach a touch screen is wonderfully painless. It took a while to be able to use the touch pad quickly with no issues, but since then it is truly very good; much less distracting than leaning forward and reaching to a touch screen. It's been 1.5 years and 13,000 miles so far and almost no problems to report. Occasionally Android Auto has a problem, but it generally clears up in a minute or so. I notice that most reviews complain about the touch pad, but that is a matter of choice and getting used to it. A combo of both touch screen and touch pad would be better and satisfy everyone. Power is adequate for any occasion but not overwhelming. Accelerating from a stop, merging, passing on 2 lane roads all pose no issues. This is a big vehicle and I don't expect to drive it like a sports car but it handles very well, no wallowing, no dives on braking, accurate steering and hugs the road beyond reasonable expectations. The 10 speed transmission, much like the 6 speed that was in my Audi, always is in the right gear. Upshifts are smooth and downshifts are right on every time. On steep downhills the tranny holds gear and downshifts if you brake. Most of the complaints I've read concerning jerky tranny shifts, etc. seem to be limited to the Advance model --I have the Tech, and I think this is the sweet spot. Very reasonable price ($55K) for what you get. Mileage in suburbia has been about 18, even on regular, and acceleration doesn't seem to be impaired. But all is not perfect - twice the battery died - maybe my fault for leaving something on, not sure. The last time I didn't want to wait for assistance and wanted to use my small jump starter. Unfortunately it was in the way back and the rear hatch has no way to open without power. I had to use the key to open the driver's door, empty the way back and open the storage area under the floor to reach my jump starter. This is nuts - the key should be useable on the hatch. That's pretty much it. I haven't needed the SH-AWD yet, the car is very comfortable and quiet, the safety stuff works well and driving is a pleasure, but it is still a medium size SUV and our expectations should be centered on that fact. The car drives surprisingly well: very direct and accurate steering with no wander; more than adequate acceleration from all reasonable speeds; handling is also surprisingly good - comfortable suspension with little lean on hard curves and very predictable responses - really surprised me as you can throw this big vehicle around very well. Separate drive settings do not change the suspension but do change shift points, steering effort and accelerator pedal response, hold gears longer, more feedback from steering and can change the dashboard gauges. My only complaint is the brake feel: pedal is soft at first but gets nicely weighted as you depress the pedal. The brakes are very good as I discovered yesterday. The automatic tranny works excellently when left alone, with swift downshifts of several gears when needed and smooth up shifts, but paddle shifting causes a brief pause in power delivery. Electronic nannies are also very good. Adaptive cruise control works very well and even handles stop and go traffic. Automatic lane keeping also works very well, although you must put your hands on specific areas of the steering wheel every 30 seconds or so. Lastly, the car is very quiet and the sound system is excellent without going to the higher cost options in the advance package. Gas mileage jumped up when the car reached about 6,000 miles and is reasonable for a car this size (about 18-19 in suburbia and 23-24 at a steady 75. I have to be careful because this car wants to go fast and you just don't feel the speed. I would really like to have the 360 degree camera views, but it wasn't worth the increase in price to the Advance package just get this - Acura should allow some individual options without requiring expensive packages. To summarize: after careful months of shopping this was our best choice and there is very little I would change. I am constantly surprised by the comfort, quiet, great driving and handling. Nothing to repair yet and my first service (oil, filter tire rotation) was $115.

The base model of this SUV is loaded. I love the way it looks and as someone that drives 70 miles a day I not only wanted a vehicle that looked great, but also performed great, comfortable and enjoyable to drive. This 2022 Acura MDX hit all the marks for me.
