2025 Toyota Corolla Cross

The Corolla Cross is an SUV counterpart to the enduring Corolla sedan. Though it sits higher and offers more cargo space and all-wheel drive, the Corolla Cross fills a similar niche. It is a value-minded option in a highly diverse and wildly popular segment. Though there is a hybrid version, the gas-powered Corolla Cross offers a single engine, a 2.0-liter four-cylinder good for 169 horsepower. It's linked to a continuously variable automatic transmission in both the front- and all-wheel-drive versions.

Edmunds spotlight: Midcycle refresh seems likely for 2025

Since its introduction in 2022 the Corolla Cross hasn't seen significant changes, so it's possible a revision will come for 2025. Toyota did introduce a revised Corolla Cross in other markets in 2024, making it more likely that an updated version will come to North America in 2025. Changes include a revised front fascia with a grille that's integrated into the body. The leading edge of the hood is also body-colored and the headlights are a more shapely design with integrated sequentially illuminating turn signals. The new interior includes a digital instrument cluster and a larger infotainment screen. But we won't know for sure if these changes are coming to the U.S.-market Corolla Cross until Toyota reveals the 2025 model later this year.  

Competitors to consider

With most extra-small SUVs starting at less than $25,000, this slice of the SUV market is an increasingly interesting place to find reasonable and fun transportation that's packed with features. And many of them are more appealing than the current Corolla Cross. The Volkswagen Taos, for example, is highly space-efficient and has a handful of useful driver assist features. The Chevy Trailblazer does everything well and Mazda's CX-30 is both fun to drive and exceptionally nice inside.

The timing for a midcycle refresh for the Corolla Cross makes sense for 2025 and there's already a refreshed version in other markets, so there's some evidence that we'll get a revised Corolla Cross next year. But we can't know for sure until Toyota reveals details later this year.
