So far, this car has been very fun to drive and have had no problems with it. It is a great gas saver car and runs very well. It has a few mods to it and really flys down the road. I love the car and would tell others to get one. If you take care of the car, it will last you for a long time as this one has.
Hemi engine. yes all DOHC versions came with domed pistons so, its really a hemi. It's light and accelerates very well being a 5 speed and has a performance trans. A/C is still cold as ice and engines runs well. Last 0- 60 time I did with it returned 7.1 seconds. Not bad for a Neon.
Start making light, agile, fun to drive cars like this again. Cars these days are so heavy and sluggish unless you buy a big, gas guzzeling engine for them. DVD system and 500 watt stereos are for home. Light weight and fun to drive are the way to go.
Great gas mileage. Getting 38 to 41 mpg highway and 29 to 30 here which is in some serious mountains -- traveling over two mountains twice a day with elevations from 900 to almost 4000 feet. Handles good and plenty of power for something that gets that good of gas mileage. Front seats roomy but small back legroom. Large trunk. Headlight lenses turned milky over the years and rubber gaskets around windows, etc. cracking. Easily shifts gears, paint not so great.
Gas mileage, nimble, 132 horsepower in a light car.
Better headlight lenses, better gaskets around headlights and windows, better quality paint.
I bought my Neon three years ago at a car auction. As a high school student, it was my first car. Originally I was thrilled to have ANY car but my trusty Neon has turned out to be a great buy. I have had absolutely no problems and I have put maybe $300 in maintenance/repairs into it. It is an excellent car for any high school or college student.
Interior, console, and roomy front seats are nice. I also like that it gets GREAT gas mileage.
The paint has been slowly chipping away in one area. I've heard that peeling paint has been a problem with the older Neons .
I bought my Neon Sport new and have
nothing negative to say about it. I
did have a couple of problems (that
were covered by warranty) so it wasn't
too bad. The car is now 10 years old
with 280,000 miles and with the
exception of some color fading (just
on the hood and left front panel)which
no one can explain since the rest of
it looks new no other problems!
Well in the Bay Area of California GAS
MILAGE (still getting 28mpg on
average) and it still looks "sporty".
