2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class E500 4MATIC AWD 4dr Sedan (5.0L 8cyl 5A)

Review

This has been a great car. Nothing has gone wrong with it. It is fantastic in the snow. I average 16 to 17 mpg around town and 25 to 27 mpg on the highwaway. Not bad for a car that can go 0-60 in 5 to 6 seconds. I'm going to get a 2007 model.

Best Features

Sport shifter, panoramic sun roof.

Worst Features

Better cup holder design

2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class E320 Rwd 4dr Sedan (3.2L 6cyl 5A)

Review

Bought car used with 5k with xenon, parktonic, & panoramic roof - three great options! The brake pump is very annoying as it cycles on and off. Base stereo much better than anticipated. Averaging 21 mpg which seems reasonable. Would have preferred used low mileage S class but my boss owns one. 2007 S Class scary in terms of long term maintenance. Best to lease I guess.

Best Features

I will never purchase another car without some form of parktronic - great technology!

Worst Features

Brakes changing on 2007 E class - good move! Too many options that forces one to wait months for ideal car. Best stereo should be standard. Cost of phone upgrade is a joke. Also the price differential between Canada and US is over 30% when the currency diffential is only 14%.

Review

This has got to be one of the most invigorating driving experiences I have ever had. This car is as much fun to drive as it is to look at. With DVD Navigation and Satellite Radio (Sirius) you have one of life greatest pleasures getting from one destination to another. The Harmen Karden stereo has such a vibrant sound. All in all -- a great driving experience

Best Features

Handling, comfort, stereo, styling, accelleration, interior appointments

Worst Features

There should be a backlight on the headlight control. It's hard to see the control's position at night if you want to decide to change your selection

2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class E320 Rwd CDI 4dr Sedan (3.2L 6cyl Turbodiesel 5A)

Review

I bought this car after having driven its larger, S-class, cousin in Europe. I rented one for a week and, after a week of driving in the mountains and highways of northern Italy was amazed at how few liters of fuel went into the tank before returning it. Impressed, I bought an E-class shortly after my return. I have not been disappointed. It's performance is nothing short of phenomenal both in 0-60 terms and when passing at highway speeds. Better yet it consistently delivers 37-38mpg on trips and in the high 20's around town. Coupled with its comfort and handling, it's clearly the best car I've ever owned. My only complaint is that the HVAC controls are needlessly complex.

Best Features

Fuel economy, performance, and so far, excellent mechanical reliability

Worst Features

Need to simplify the HVAC controls for safe and convenient driver use. Also the fuel fill needs to be enlarged to accept the larger diesel nozzles frequently encountered.

Review

This is a good solid family sedan. We special ordered the E500 with all the options( only missing is the distronic feature) Car has been trouble free for past two years. Keyless Go option is very nice to have, that you only need to carry the key with you in the pocket and you can open the car door and turn the ignition on without ever turning the key. Seats are very comfortable ( esp with dynamic seats, which automatically puts air into selective located area of seats when you turn the car in high speed for comfort" like G- suits in fighter jets" Engine is smooth and planty power with 7 speed transmission. wiht 305 HP engine passing is effortless and smooth and quiet overall.

Best Features

Drive Dynamic seats. Keyless Go. Looks Panoramic sunroof. Good engine.

Worst Features

If you are considering buying MB CLS coupe get this instead because CLS is for four passenger and side windows are very small and tight. E class offers more praticle and higher resale value. wiht good 5 passenger capability. Will look nicer with quad chrome exhuast cover (optional)
