Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Diesel

When the bigwigs at jeep get their heads out of their (ahem), transfer cases, perhaps THEN they will put a diesel into the wrangler. IF they DO then I'll buy one, but what I will probably do is just stick a V.W. Rabbit turbo diesel into my 1990 wrangler instead. I have an entire machine shop at my disposal, and all the time in the world to set up a conversion ... Read More

Dave, The bad thing about using a bike to commute with is that if it rains, and you have an office job, your appearence is going to be shot to hell. Even if you work in a factory, you are going to feel like a drowned rat during your commute. (This is written by someone who owns a sport bike, and has ridden since she was 18). Hi folks, I just found this group while reading the mail on the Hyundai Elantra group to which I belong. I own a 1990 Wrangler with the 4 cylinder engine which I bought used off a buy here pay here lot on Phoenix, in 2000. Right after I bought it, it would occaisionally refuse to start when hot. After it would cool down for a couple of hours, it would start ... Read More

  • Green House Jeep

    Written by: koolbreeze2 on Aug 8, 2005 2:57:45 PM

I saw a unique Wrangler today. A 1990 with a green house in the bed. The owner ( male, 30's) put several inches of dirt in the bed and planted a combination of flowers, tomatoes, and plants. Every thing was growing all over the place. Rearview mirror was useless. He just arrived in Conn. from Calif. and was headed to Nefoundland, Canada. A kayak on the rack, a dog of undetermined ... Jay,try a local Jeep Owners club; they are all over the country. My wife has a 1999 Wrangler, and my son and I have removed and re-installed the hard top. If there is a rear wiper, that needs to be unplugged, and you will also need a size 50 or 60 male torx bit. If you own a Jeep Wrangler, it would pay to have a set of the torx bits. ... Read More

Beach- this engine does not have a timing belt , it has a timing chain . Also the French Peugeot transmission was last used in 88 . it was replaced midyear with a the AX-15 . This 90 YJ has single point throttle body fuel injection . Not bad ,but not great. Goducks1 is correct about pre-91 model YJ's with the 4.2 L. STAY AWAY from them. The engine was good ... Read More
