Hi! My name is Joseph. My family has owned our 1999 QX4 since late 2000. It was recently passed down to me and ofcourse I have always wanted it. The one thing I have to say about my infiniti is that it is one of the best cars you will ever purchase. My QX4 has 248,000 miles and still, for the most part, runs smooth. Ofcourse With the time, there have ... Read More
Yes, from CR, 99 and 00 are the best (full red circle), 97, 98, 01, 02 and 03 are next to 99-00 in their "overall" indicators (half red dot). I hope nothing will happen to my 02 down the road. So far, it has none.
I haven't checked reliability at CR but briefly checked at msn.com. Not sure how "reliable" their reliability indicator is, but it seems 98, 99, 00 are the same, 01 is worse (with serious engine problem?), 02 is the same as 98-00, 03 (the last year) is the best.
Could the 2000 Infinti QX4 possibly be the most reliable Nissan vehicle ever made in history? I followed all the Consumer Reports vehicle reliability rating for the past 20 years, and 2000 Infiniti QX4 turns out to be Nissan's most reliable vehicle ever made in history. Is it worth buying one used, given by its status? After that, Nissan has gone way downhill in reliability, and there's a high chance, I ... Read More

I have a 2000 QX4 with 103,000 miles that still runs great. I recently took it to an Infiniti dealer to have it serviced in which they suggested I get a 60,000/120,000 mile service which cost $700+. I was told that everything that I would need up to 120,000 miles would be taken care of, including timing belt and fuel induction service. After the service was completed the work order only ... As far as price...What does Edmunds here say?...and Kelley Blue Book?...And local papers...That could be hard as there are very few around being sold...But that's a lot of miles for a 2001...Even if they got it mid year 2000, when they first came out...I've only got 45,000 in my 2001... Great SUV...Service at Infiniti dealers very good... And, yes, it uses premium gas...And lot's of it...It's only bad part...
You made a great choice...We've had our 2001 since July of 2000...3 great years...My wifes main car...Loves it...It still looks better than the rest of them...Foolish of Infiniti for stopping production...
I just got back from my Infiniti dealer and he told me that he will not be getting anymore QX4's delivered this year. It is being replaced by the FX35/45 due out in late January. He did not have an FX yet. I also test drove a Toyota 4Runner Limited that was a dream, but the dealer I went was not dealing on that baby yet. Seems like the residuals on ... Read More
Is there anyway I can reprogram my locks to lock automatically (when started or put in drive etc) as sometimes I forget and with carjackings so strong near here (New Orleans), I don't want any chances! Also I read somewhere the QX4 is supposed to have a "6" way key remote?? Mine only a) locks all doors with alarm, b)unlocks just driver with 1 click, or c) unlocks them all on 2nd ... Read More
There is a plastic "skid plate" under the Pathfinder and QX4 that needs to be removed (half a dozen or so screws) to get at the filter. After that, it's straight forward. Drive through oil change stations seem to be baffled by the "skid plate" in my experience and one of them lost a few of the screws on my 2000 PF. Nissan dealers (if there is one close by) will ... You can buy pet barriers at petsmart for a lot cheaper than the one infiniti is selling. I got one for a 96 Mountaineer. Like gregfocker said, it is a generic and is adjustable to fit many different sized rear area suv's. My dog got where she did not try to jump over anymore, so I have not used mine in a while. I agree with greg that it is ok ... Read More
Try some of the following, johnskev... 1. Change service reps; if you don't like the guy you're dealing with, ask to see someone else. Talk to other customers while you're there - see how they get on. Then when you find a good guy, only deal with him. 2. If that doesn't work, call and ask for the Service Manager. Get his name and direct line if he has one. Find ... Read More
I live in Georgia. At the end of April Edmunds was showing a $2000 factory to dealer incentive in the western states, but not my state. In my area the lowest option QX4 you can get is a 2wd with rear air deflector, sunroof, and premium pkg. That invoices around $33,000. Minus the $2000 factory to dealer incentive gives a price of $31000. What I did was get an email quote ... Read More
Well here's the story.. I bought a new '02 Path LE loaded for $30,500 in March. Drove it for 2 months and felt the truck was everyhtning I wanted in a SUV. Well, I got a call from an Infiniti dealer I went to awhile back, he said they just got in QX4's and are discounting them substantially. So I went down there this weekend with my Path, looked at a ... Read More
I just purchased a 2002 QX4 in the SE for $31,000 plus $399 doc and T,T,L. Also got the 0.9 financing ( just love $270 in finance charges). In april there was a $2000 factory to dealer incentive on QX4. Basically got the vehicle at invoice cost of QX4 (no ad or floor plan fees) minus the $2000 incentive. Dealer kept the $900 holdback. In my area the least equipped 2wd ... Read More
If I remember correctly, the 240 HP option came out in Spring 2000 as MY2001 for both the Nissan and Infiniti. They did a sheet metal freshening with the same VG33 engine on the Pathfinder prior to that and released it as a 99.5 and 2000 model.
I understood that Nissan/Infiniti came out with the 240 hp engine in these SUV's in mid 1999 calling it a 2000 model. Why does your 2000 not have 240 hp?
I agree with the others, go for the new PF. You may also find that the incentives and low finance rate will give the PF a lower monthly payment than a used QX4 with a higher finance rate. There is no substantial difference between the PF and QX4 when they are equally equipped. I bought a 2001 QX4 and paid about $1200 premium over the PF. I bought late in the ... Read More
Did you check this site for incentives? See: http://www.edmunds.com/new/2002/infiniti/qx4/2wd4drsuv35l6cyl4a/prices.html#incentives For my ZIP code (85308) they indicate a $2000 incentive. When I bought my 2001 QX4 last year, it was relatively easy to get the dealer down to a sales price of invoice price less the full dealer incentive, which was $1000 at that time. Hold out for invoice less dealer incentive! You may need to walk out on the deal once ... Read More
You also may be interested to know that several new SUV's now have an area under the center console for a purse. The AZTEK and the RENDEVOUS are two that have this....and several other nice features that looks as though they had input from female designers. As I said, If I had had the opportunity to sit and drive this vehicle before my husband "surprised" me with it, I would have ... Read More
used drum brakes for many years, then advanced to front disc/rear drum, also for years, but it just seems that vehicles with substantial cost and (theoretically) substantial quality have 4 wheel disc brakes...only Taurus/Sable had 4 wheel disc with the silly oval design of 1995-1999, and then with the redesign of 2000, took a step backwards and installed rear drum brakes...I don't deny that the vehicle (QX4) will stop, as does ... I questioned two dealers about owner loyalty rebates. It is a hidden rebate. If you have ever leased or owned an Infiniti before, the company gives you an extra $1000. I did not qualify. I think that the dealer participates in the rebate in some way, and also figures that few rebates will be paid out. Dealers make lots of money, so try some hard bargaining. From the deals that go ... We bought our 2000 QX4 in December 1999. Our QX4 has 9800 miles on it (we do not drive it a lot) and the rear driver side tire is having difficulty retaining tire pressure. The mechanic who helped me replace the faulty tire with the spare told me that it looks like a belt problem since he could not find any holes. The tires are the original Bridgestone Duelers. Can anyone ... Read More
I agree with you on the quite ride of the QX4. I actually did a very extensive amount of research on these 2 vehicles before buying the 2001 PF LE auto4wd...I love them both! I think path01 nailed the other significant differences except for the fact the QX4 has a more uptown interior trim level. The QX4 was more quiet (on back to back testing), but I didn't find the difference ... Read More
I live in Virginia Beach and have driven a 94 Suburban for the last several years. I would like to downsize to a 5 passenger vehicle, but upgrade the quality. I therefore have visited several dealerships and came upon the Infiniti dealership in town and was very impressd with the look and quality of the QX4. The only problem is that I can't afford the 2000 or 2001 models, but they ... Read More
Bigboater like every car deal you make you must lock the doors take off the gloves its "GO TIME"!! To answer your question very simply yes i made an offer at $500 under invoice. Right you are about the head airbags, that's one feature I forgot about that actually sets the QX4 apart from it's PF father. But I'll take vehicle stability control, true all-wheel-drive, and superior crash tests anyday. Awards? The RX is former MotorTrend SUV of the year, Consumer Reports Best value, Consumer's Digest Best buy, etc. You also might want to check out this recent Car and driver review: www.caranddriver.com/xp/Caranddriver /comparisontests/2000/December /200012_comparisontest_designerutes.xml ... Beyond the comments from mvargo1, you may also want to consider the safety aspects of the SUV. Check out www.nhtsa.gov for crash test. I have a 2000 QX4 for over a year. Other than the horsepower (fixed during 2001) and mileage, the vehicle has had no problems and perfect in every way. The Infiniti Lemon appears to be an anomaly. Everyone else loves their Pathfinder/QX4. Good luck!

My father owns an Infiniti QX4, and this evening he got a very bizarre call from a woman claiming that there is a nationwide recall of 2000 & 2001 Infiniti QX4s. The woman claimed that Infiniti discovered some problem on Friday, and they've been calling all 2000 & 2001 owners about it -- telling ... Read More

When I went in to negotiate, I had the full Consumers Report breakdown of dealer costs, plus quotes from 4 other dealers. After several rounds of passing offers and counter-offers to the manager through the salesman, we arrived at a final price of $38,500. This includes everything except for ... Read More
Allow me to add a little more to the tire discussion as I have been researching this a bit: The 1997-2000 QX4 came with the Bridgestone Dueler H/T D689 in size P245/70R16. A few 1st generation QX4's may have come with another tire like Dunlop but only because Bridgestone ran out of stock or something like that. 99% came with the Dueler. The new 2001 QX4 gives you choices. The standard ... Read More
I live in MA. Kelly Infiniti in Danvers only had a few 2001's and no 2000's. The one I'm getting is on the boat from Japan and should be in next week. It was one of only three that they're getting anytime soon. Basically, I'm getting a titantium QX4 with the performance, sport, gold-emblem, and sunroof packages. Also included are a sunroof wind-deflector and rear-window deflector. I believe this came out ... Read More
I wrote the original post on this page and apologize for the terrible grammer and spelling mistakes. I'd like to thanks those who have posted their own experiences. Just picked up my 2001 Titanium QX4 2 week ago. I have to say -- this is a great car/SUV. The acceleration, ride and comfort is similar to the RX300 but at a lower price (even if you pay MSRP).
