NEW YORK — Rockstar Games has amped up its Grand Theft Auto V marketing with a contest that allows one lucky fan to win a real version of a car from the game.
The video-game developer partnered with West Coast Customs to build a real version of its Bravado Banshee sports car. The tuner started with a previous-generation Dodge Viper, modifying the exterior and interior to match the in-game model of the GTA V vehicle.
Molds for the exterior were machined piece-by-piece and finished with flashy metallic blue paint and a white racing stripe. The interior was handcrafted and stitched to mimic the game car's cockpit, and includes a premium sound system. Although Rockstar did not specify what was under the hood, one of the exterior badges calls the car a Twin Turbo GT.
Those interested in the contest can enter by mail, in-store at any GameStop or online. The contest can be entered multiple times and ends September 30.
The 2013 Grand Theft Auto V Bravado Banshee has an approximate retail value of $180,000, and, thanks to a $70,000 check that will be made out to the winner, the total value of the grand prize is $250,000.
