DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Bugatti has introduced the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse Legend Edition Meo Costantini, the third model in the six-car Les Legendes de Bugatti series, at the 2013 Dubai Auto Show.

With a production run of only three cars, the Bugatti Legend Meo Costantini carries a price tag of $2.8 million.

The latest Bugatti Legend model is named for a close friend of company founder Ettore Bugatti. The head of the Bugatti factory race team, Costantini was a two-time winner of the Targa Florio road race in a Bugatti Type 35.

The car features a new Bugatti Dark Blue Sport exterior paint, which honors France's classic motorsport color. The body is built mainly of carbon fiber, and aluminum parts are hand-polished and coated with clear lacquer.

"As a reference to Costantini's victory at Targa Florio, the silhouette of the historic race course is painted on the underside of the rear wing," the company said.

The racer's signature is laser-engraved into the aluminum tank and oil caps and painted in silver.

The Legend Meo Costantini's cabin is swathed in cognac leather. The interior also features racing scenes and vintage-car motifs on the doors.

Bugatti has been rolling out Legend models on a regular basis. The previous model was a $3-million Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse Legend Jean Bugatti that debuted at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show. That version celebrates the oldest son of the company founder and his most famous creation, the Type 57SC Atlantic.

Edmunds says: Another "legend" from Volkswagen's ultra-exotic brand.
