SEALY, Texas — Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE) has released a conversion package for the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor that turns it into a full-size SUV. The Texas tuner calls it the VelociRaptor.
Starting price for the conversion package is $149,500. The resulting SUV takes its name from a deadly creature from Jurassic Park.
The transformation starts by removing the bed of the high-performance pickup and installing the rear body of the Ford Excursion. A hatch and set of ambulance-style doors replace the truck bed gate. The tuner says that all of the factory Ford F-150 SVT Raptor truck components are kept intact.
Moving to performance, Hennessey had to up the output since it added an extra 600 pounds of weight to the truck. A supercharger upgrade takes care of this problem and helps the VelociRaptor make 600 horsepower at the flywheel. Hennessey says that it sprints from zero to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds.
Like most of its tuning packages, HPE will do just about anything you want to the vehicle. These optional upgrades include Brembo front brakes, larger wheels and tires, LED lights, a custom interior with a third row of seating as well as the addition of security and armoring systems.
Hennessey will build 30 units of the VelociRaptor SUV a year. The truck can be ordered directly through HPE or through select Ford dealers.
Edmunds says: Hennessey Performance Engineering is definitely going after a niche market with the quirky VelociRaptor.
