NASHVILLE — The redesigned 2015 Nissan Murano crossover is being teased ahead of a world debut on April 16 at the 2014 New York Auto Show.

"The Murano previews a new Nissan design language for future Nissan production vehicles," the automaker said in a statement on Monday. "Along with its innovative styling, the 2015 Nissan Murano features a spacious, premium interior and advanced, purposeful safety and connective technology."

A teaser image shows a sleek, cat's-eye headlight.

The new Murano is expected to arrive at dealerships in the fall. Pricing has not been announced.

The new Murano's silhouette and styling cues are expected to be drawn from the Nissan Resonance concept. The Resonance concept debuted at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show.

As reported earlier by Edmunds, the 2015 Murano will share a front-drive vehicle platform with the Nissan Altima, Pathfinder and the upcoming redesigned Maxima.

The Murano CrossCabriolet, an all-wheel-drive, four-passenger convertible, is not expected to be redesigned and offered in the U.S.

Competitors to the Murano include the Ford Edge, Honda CR-V and Toyota Venza, among others.

Edmunds says: When the Murano debuted in 2003, trendy crossovers were still relatively rare. The pressure is on Nissan to up the ante with a fresh take on this family favorite.
