Pricing on the 2014 Evoque has been a matter of great interest, since the Evoque is one of the first vehicles on the market to feature a nine-speed automatic transmission. The 2014 Evoque goes on sale in the fall.

The nine-speed automatic transmission is expected to be one of the most fuel-efficient transmissions on the market. The technology is likely to boost the appeal of the Evoque.

The Evoque is the best-selling Range Rover model worldwide, according to the company. The EPA has not posted 2014 Evoque fuel economy numbers. The EPA says the 2013 Evoque returns 20 mpg in city driving and 28 mpg on the highway.

The new transmission, which replaces a six-speed automatic transmission, is linked to a 240-horsepower turbocharged direct-injected 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine.

A new Active Driveline system with active differentials and torque vectoring also debuts on the 2014 Evoque as standard in all models. The new four-wheel-drive system reduces driveline drag by decoupling 4WD during steady-state driving at speeds above 22 mph, but automatically activating 4WD within 300 milliseconds whenever it is needed.

The 2014 Evoque also gets modest exterior detail changes, new color options for the interior and new alloy wheel styles.

The 2014 Evoque competes with a long list of luxury compact crossovers, including the BMW X3 and Acura RDX.

Edmunds says: Consumers will not pay a major price premium for the new nine-speed automatic transmission in the 2014 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque.
