FRANKLIN, Tennessee — The 2013 Nissan Murano starts at $31,295, including an $845 destination charge, reflecting a $490 price increase over the 2012 Murano, according to Nissan.

The top-of-the-line 2013 Nissan Murano LE AWD starts at $42,085, including shipping.

The base 2012 Nissan Murano starts a $30,805, including an $845 destination charge.

Nissan did not raise the price on the 2013 Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet, which starts at $45,385, including an $845 destination charge.

A new value package is a $2,270 option on the 2013 Murano SV. The value package includes a power liftgate, Bose audio system with nine speakers and a navigation system.

Largely a carryover model, the 2013 Murano offers few updates. There are a few new safety technologies available, including Moving Object Detection, Blind Spot Warning and Lane Departure Warning systems to the Murano LE Platinum Edition and Murano SL Navigation packages.

The optional Platinum Edition package adds $2,350 to the bottom line. The SL navigation package is another $2,100.

The 2013 Murano is $2,845 more expensive than the 2013 Ford Edge, one of its chief domestic rivals. The base 2013 Ford Edge SE FWD starts at $28,450, including an $895 destination charge.

The 2013 Murano is $2,750 more expensive than the 2013 Toyota Venza, one of its chief foreign rivals. The base 2013 Toyota Venza starts at $28,545, including an $845 destination charge.

Edmunds says: If you're in the market for a Nissan Murano, it might be worth the effort to look for a 2012 model to save a few bucks.

    So the obvious hidden message is that a new model is coming up soon, and that the cros cab will carry over for a while much like Subaru did with that WRX thing. Awesome! and anybody who buys a Murano this year either really likes it, or is a MASSIVE idiot.
