Researched all the competing SUVS in this class. Looking for upscale, comfortable and fun to drive. Also all the safety and convenience features. Absolutely love the comfortable seats and the surprising smooth power of the T6. Luxury meets comfort meets practical meets fun to drive in this car. And the sound system is amazing and such a nice plus. Beautiful inside and out.

Purchased new 2021 Volvo xc60 w package 11/2021. 1st electronics: the sensus infotainment system works perfectly fine and if you can’t work an iPad or cell phone screen……. This vehicle is not for you. Everything is controlled by sensus…… if you need a thousand buttons to push…. Look elsewhere. It’s far more convenient & cleaner looking to me than the 18 Mercedes benz I traded in for the Volvo that had about 40+ buttons on the dashboard. 2nd performance: this is not a sports car….. don’t expect it to be. It is a comfortable suv with plenty of power & ride quality between a soft Mercedes & firm BMW. The Volvo seats are absolutely amazing….. especially if you suffer from bad back pain or bad knees……. You will not hurt at all in the seats of this suv! 3rd design: the car has beautiful design language inside & out and that’s what drew me to it. The interior is stunning and where I spend most of my time….. I want it to be comfortable. It’s a very classy, clean design that doesn’t look old even now. 4th price: for the price point , the Volvo xc60 has more safety & convenience features than a x3 or GLC and build quality & fit & finish are outstanding. No squeaks, rattles or buttons falling off. No, it’s not perfect……. Neither was my Mercedes….. but overall it’s a perfectly comfortable commuter suv for small family, if that’s what you are looking for. April 2025 update: I still have my XC60 & I’m still happy with it. Problems: had key fob issue (not starting, not cutting off, electrical) that the dealership wouldn’t resolve for months until getting with service manager to fix. After they replaced my key fob, cars been running fine and no more technical glitches. Windshield cracked all the way across & had to replace that ….. I think it was design influenced crack, they said was not. Also the accessory battery had to be replaced under warranty. The good: XC60 still solid choice & runs great. Engine is still solid and seems to not have aged with the car, it still feels like a new car. Seats are fabulous for long drives, plenty of power for daily driving, even with age design is still attractive & elegant. I still love the beautiful interior too. I usually get rid of vehicles after 3-4 years, but I like this one enough to keep it for longer. I looked at new suvs & their overpriced, not nearly same features I already have for the money. I looked at new B5 engine xc60 as loaner car, didn’t like the new engine. It’s to jerky to me.

(Mostly) Perfect

At fourteen months/10,500 miles, the car has met most of my expectations. No service issues, MPG has been as rated, power and handling are more than adequate for urban driving. Seat comfort and interior finish are exquisite, giving each drive a sense of occasion. The Sensus infotainment system poses a certain learning curve, but like any software interface (phones, tablets, etc.) it becomes second-nature with time and usage. Cargo capacity, though not best-in-class, has been wholly adequate for road trips, work gear and small furniture. The car's principal let-down is its ride quality. Minor road imperfections transmit directly to the cabin, triggering an array of squeaks and rattles. Larger bumps feel like an impact. 20" wheels may account for some of this, as may the generally poor condition of Los Angeles streets. Even so, it's a level of NVH unexpected at this price point, defeating the relaxed, composed driving experience to which the XC60 otherwise aspires. Minor quibbles: The sun visors are small and non-extending, so not ideal for the sunbelt; the base Momentum trim omits basic (and inexpensive) cargo features such as a retaining net for the rear side cubby and an elastic strap handy for securing small items; the Climate Package omits rear heated seats for 2WD models.

After a few months of purchasing, the brakes began to squeak, the keyless rear hatch works intermittently going up only halfway, the display has gone blank a few times, and the check engine light has come on four times related to emissions. The vehicle is now in the shop again. I’ve contacted Volvo customer care to see what they propose.

Ready or not having to learn another computer monitored vehicle can be challenging. Lets just say everything you do with this vehicle is logged on the vehicles computer but troubleshooting and servicing isn't as simple. Only Volvo service department can do ANYTHING to this car.
