Waste of Time and Money
I bought one of these for my wife a year ago and we are getting rid of it with under 17,000 miles on it. We are still upside down in the vehicle, and it is spending more time at the dealership than at our house. And for some reason the dealership is putting around 200 miles on it while trying to fix a problem with the idling. The vehicle has been a problem since the month after we got it and our dealership seems to be making little if no effort to fix the problem.
this car is perfect until....
I wonder if anyone has this problem. This car worked perfect until last year. The car will suddenly shut down with no reason. It has happened for serveral times now. Since my extended warrenty is still good, they suggest me to bring it back to the dealers. However, the dealers can't find any problem, plus charge me $100 for checking it. I tried to call VW customer couples time and told them the problem. They keep asking me to go to the dealer. Sure I have already paid $100 for it, why would I keep paying VW for their faults. I bought it new from the dealer in 2007. Now they just can't provide any service. What is the point to buy the extented warrenty? No more VW for me!

An underrated gem!!
As a 6' 4" enthusiast, my requirements are elbow room and fun to drive. This car fills the bill! I have had several VWs,and many others in the compact class since 1955, and this 2007 2.5 is the best overall! Solid and secure at ANY SPEED. By far the best overall combination of features and useful sophistication per dollar. This car is better than the maker says it is. Brakes and handling as delivered are outstanding, the engine and driveline give performance well ahead of its price class. If this 2.5 were available with the 6-speed manual, it would be a best buy by far!
Basic Wheels
Ok, little set of wheels. People comment it's "cute". Nothing special, a bit noisy, some interior design/ergonomic issues. Centre console lacks lid or armrest, stereo terrible, front seats uncomfortable (no lumbar), A/C and defrost controls too small/awkward location, sunroof rattles, wipers stop when vehicle is stopped (very dangerous as you need to see at all times), wiper controls cumbersome, front seats get stuck in forward position (have to pull hard to move back), standard wheels ugly, rear wiper makes sticks to window, ventilation poor (windows steam up quickly), no cargo net.
Great Car
I have had my Rabbit for over a year now. No problems whatsoever, and it is a wonderful car to drive. One thing I did wish was better was gas mileage, although you get in performance what you lose in gas mileage, so it is a trade off I am happy with. Any of the other similar cars with better mileage can't hold a candle to the get up and go that my Rabbit has.
