2017 Volkswagen Passat S 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl Turbo 6A)

I thoroughly researched the midsize segment and found the Passat to be a perfect fit for me. I live in metro Phoenix so opted for the S trim since I'm not a fan of leatherette seats in our intense summer heat. The base model has plenty of standard features, and I was able to purchase a new one for $18,800. I love the fit and finish of the vehicle with its accompanying handsome, understated design, and you'd be hard-pressed to find a comparable sedan for under 19K. I've owned all type of cars from different manufacturers, but this is my first VW, and I am very pleased. I highly recommend the Passat.

My R Line 45k miles later

2017 Volkswagen Passat R-Line 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl Turbo 6A)

I’ve owned my Passat R line for 2.5yrs and I have driven over 45k miles in it. I haven’t had to have any significant repairs other than me curbing my beautiful 19 inch wheels (my fault) and 2 minor accidents where I was rear ended (their fault). Safety wise this car is built like a tank. I don’t think you can find a safer car at this price point. I came from a V8 Cadillac STS so I’m a power junky. I use premium fuel and have added a Neuspeed Power module. It’s been plug and play power which really woke the car up. These cars have decent aftermarket parts which can get you an even better driving sleeper at a low price. Interior layout and materials are great at this price point. Do your maintenance on time and use quality stuff when you do (5k mile synthetic oil changes, premium fuel, etc) and these cars are roomy and trouble free. I’ll be getting an APR tune and doing some suspension upgrades and for a minimal price I’ll be in the bargain Audi area for performance with a German designed car built in America. Can’t beat it...buy it used with low miles and save even more money. New warranty is outstanding at 6yrs/72k miles on everything! Go VW GO!!!

Update: Car is still a great drive. Performance seems down a very small amount but overall I would buy again. Great car with a lot of room and is very easy to drive. Comfortable on trips for 4 adults. Performance is great for U.S. highways. The fronts seats are good overall but would be great if they had a tilt function to support the thighs better. I enjoy it and the price was great.

Passat TSI R Line - love that car!

It's a very roomy sedan with a huge trunk making it a comfortable people hauler... but its quite sporty looking in white with piano black/chrome details, sporty front fascia, low profile tires and 19" gun powder wheels... it also has good pick up and is rather quiet... overall ride is competent and the car handles well... had no problems whatsoever so far... love driving it... looks and feels like a much more expensive car inside out... and again its no slouch... and pretty good on the gas if you don't push it all the time... and all the while the price is just under $290 a month for a 3 year lease with 15,000 miles per year... to sum it up: a really good car for the money!

I really enjoy driving this car, very precise. Not the flashiest car in the segment but to me it is about function and feel not fashion.
