Used 2007 Volkswagen Passat Sedan Consumer Reviews
Best car I have ever owned.
Since '91 I have owned 6 cars, 5 of them Passats (1 of each generation)-- and each one got better than the previous one. When you compare handling, styling, fit & finish, safety, room, features and price, nothing else even comes close!! My prior car was an '04 BMW 325xi and I sold it 6 months early to get back into another Passat and no regrets.
3.6 4Motion Luxury!
I happened to find this car on a lot in DC and negotiated the price before even test driving it. After owning this car for 10 days, I am amazed at how much fun this car is to drive. I also considered the G35, Acura TL (type s) and Buick Lacrosse Super. The Passat 3.6 engine with the sports package handles incredibly well and acceleration at all speeds is outstanding. A great every day family car. Also, I highly recommend the Dynaudio sound system as it is incredible. Although this car costs much more than a basic import sedan, it really is closer to an entry level Audi or C-class, but less money and more fun when equipped fully. A winner!

The Wolfsberg Edition Sedan
I've driven Mercedes, BMW, Dodge, Chevrolet, and even a Nissan but this car is the best EVER. It handles like Mercedes, is faster than a BMW, and costs as much as a VW. It is so quiet and comfortable, and it is huge. I'm 6'1" and I can sit in the back seat comfortably. You could by an Audi A4 (Which I consider the only real competitor) but for 2/3 the price, I'll take the Passat. I did buy this new and I have 17,000 Miles now.
Second Passat Same Results
2001 model, 275K, 2nd set of brakes, only repair other than maintenance was tie rod ends. Virtually flawless. Now have a 2007 model, 160K, much stronger engine, fun to drive. No mechanical issues. Biggest issue is the VW dealership in Franklin, TN but the car(s) have been great. Maybe I have been lucky but seriously, no issues. BTW, still on the first set of brakes on the front and second on the rear with 160K. Stepping up to the Audi version with the next car because of the dealership, not the car.
Potentially great car, mixed bag though
So far it's been a good family cruiser, with lots of power. The sport suspension is a good setup. Couple of annoyances, I am 6'5", and find that the vertical height of the windshield is a bit low. I used to have 2001 Passat, with its higher windshield I found that outward visibility was better. The 07 Passat's windshield is raked further, which reduces the vertical height. Another issue is the transmission. Mine has a fairly bad hesitation as slow speed (< 10mph), it doesn't always want to go back to 1st gear. Overall the 3.6 motor is quite the little monster, great acceleration! I chipped mine with Revo which gets another 20hp. Recommended!
