Do Not Buy This Vehicle
My wife has this car and the annual cost of maintenance is $3,000. This includes fixing things like essential safety equipment - the airbags broke and VW was not helpful in fixing this problem. Every single thing on this car has broken at one time or another. It has been given all of the necessary care which should keep a car in better than average running order, yet everything brakes regardless of the care level it is given. Example: the cruise control has never worked, and the dealer can't fix the problem! DO NOT BUY this lemon of a vehicle.
VW number 10
I bought this car about two months ago and have put about six thousand miles on it already. The engine has a great power down low and up top. My average mpg is 24 but can get up to 28 on the highway and down to 17 city. The interior has all the bells and whistles you would see on a car today auto down windows all around, and can open and close them by holding the key. The quality of the interior is excellent leather is firm, no rattles and is very solid just what you would expect from a German car. The trunk is HUGE!!! and would make a good Mafia car. Like is said this is my tenth vw, all great cars just use good parts and maintain it.

Jetta III GLX VR6
I bought this car new in 1995, and have loved it for all 126000 miles. It runs great and is very zippy. I would recommend the manual V6 if you're looking for great acceleration. Third gear is the best! Too bad it's speed is governed at 135 mph. I've heard of problems with electric features like cruise control and heated seats, but I haven't had any problems. I just wish Jettas were made in Germany like the Passat. Some of the Mexican substitutions are cheapo plastic.
Terrible car
I was horrified at the reliability and the cost of maintenance of this car. A Volkswagon person for over 20 years, this is the last VW I will ever buy. VW's are now all made in Mexico, and are unfortunately not the same cars they used to be.
Great Car
I bought my Celebration Edition Jetta new and have had it for seven years. It's a great car! I would definitely recommend buying one. It has 70,000 miles on it and it still runs like new.
