I don't know what these other people are talking about, but I can tell you that the GLX is the best. It gets decent gas milage, is reliable, and mine currently has 175,000 miles on this bulletproof VR6 engine. As long as you do basic maintainence every so often, you'll be fine. The only knock against this car is the classic VW interior problems. Door knobs, window controls, alarm problems, stupid stuff like that breaks. If you're halfway mechanically minded you can fix it by yourself everytime, and the motor and tranny will NEVER let you down.

Love this car...got it at 65K miles in 1998 and have never had any issues! I've never replaced the clutch! Who needs an SUV? Its spacious enough to fit 2 passengers, a 90 lb. dog in back, and tons in trunk (including oversized stuff--huge suitcases, vacuum cleaners, etc.). Seats fold down to fit skis and mountain bike. Great on gas! Fun to drive. I've never been stranded and always feel safe. What a bargain! Cloth seats are very durable. I was told there is no "tune-up" for this car, just remember to change the oil and it'll be reliable. They couldn't have been more right. Starts right up in cold weather. VWs are the best! I will buy another!

I love my car. It's the best car I could ask for. It's precision handling and compact size make my life so much easier. I have so few worries when I'm on the road. It's quite comfortable inside and it makes me feel almost pampered with all the interior conveniences. The only things I could ask for would be a bigger center console and more options for positioning the wheel. Other than that...this car is a dream.

Well I bought my 1995 Volkswagen Jetta as a junior in high school. It was a great car to drive to school in, 32 miles each way. I have been doing a lot of work to keep it on the road, and parts are extremely expensive, and the aftermarket is almost non-existent. For a small car though, it is great, because I am 6'3" and fit with some room to spare, as long as no one sits behind me.
