Wowzza
Purchased a 2020 GTI-S. My other car is a BMW and after driving this little blaster, I gave the BMW to my wife! Excellent performance, visibility and braking. Love the interior and the fit and finish are way above average. You feel confident and connected to the road as though the car can read your thoughts. The ride is comfortable and controls are easy to read and/or reach. The car is a blast to drive and you can park this baby anywhere. Don’t know why others gave this vehicle a average rating...this is the quickest, best handling vehicle I have owned in years. If you have ever thought about buying a GTI...RUN..don’t walk to your dealer. You won’t be sorry.

Love my GTI
Test drove against the Elantra GT Nline, Mazda3 Hatch, and Honda Civic Si. The VW GTI was by far my favorite to drive of the bunch. Exterior - unassuming yet very functional hatch, love the led headlights Interior - mine came with leather seats which are very comfortable for my average male build, quiet comfortable cabin for long drives Engine - plenty of power for a sporty driving experience, most powerful engine of the cars I was comparing against, really enjoy the turbo thrust Trans - got the manual, clutch has good but not amazing feel, however not too light and not too heavy, shifter is fine for what it is given the fwd layout Ride/handling - with the VAQ diff the car handles neutrally during spirited driving on public roads, can't speak to handling at the limit, ride is on the stiffer side but not punishing Overall - a good mix of what one could want from a hot hatch. Felt the least comprised of the group. Good on gas given the power and smiles it puts out!

Most fun I’ve had driving
This little sports car is practical and fun. I’ve owned BMWs and Audis, and I have to say I’m enjoying this pocket rocket much more. The car is nimble, and the displays are logical. This car has been perfected for years.

Fun Fun Fun!
This is the total driving package. Great handling and steering whether in tight corners or high speed sweepers. I love that the torque is rated higher than the HP. Quick acceleration. Just a great feel to everything!

car with zip
Quick off the mark. To accommodate the 4 doors, the trunk is quite small. In comparison to my 2008 GTI, the interior styling is not as sporty. However, it is just as speedy, good gas mileage, and fun to drive
Nice car but should’ve gotten the SE
The SE has LED, adaptive headlights, a sunroof and a ton of other little things you’d really have to look into that make it worth the extra cost. I honestly wish I knew that prior to buying my car but COVID, back when it first hit, made the process a lot more of a pain in the buns than it normally would’ve been. I also didn’t find out about the change in warranty, used to be 6 years but trimmed to 4 now, until after the transaction was well finished. Still this is the last year that the analog dash is available and the mk7 platform is super well optimized at this point that I am glad I got the car before the mk8’s arrive, and bring all of their new problems with them for the first few years. If you can get this car for under $27000, than that’s a great deal.

2020 GTI-S: Quite possibly the perfect car.
I've had many cars, but this 2020 GTI (now with over 10,000 miles) continues to amaze me the way none of my others could. It's a daily joy to drive (like my RX7 was) and amazingly versatile (close to the capacity of a small SUV) and yet gets an at-the-pump measured 38.9 mpg on long freeway trips. That means I can get over 500 miles (540 calculated, but I didn't risk it) from the 14-gallon tank. It's pretty much invisible to law enforcement, fits into the smallest parking spots, and has a level of comfort and interior refinement that's well above it's price point. The only thing I'm missing is towing ability, but I guess I'll have to get another vehicle for that. UPDATE 20,000: I've had a couple of minor electrical issues: one was due to a wiring harness that deactivated blind spot monitoring in my driver's door; the other was a software problem with my internet connection. Both were covered under warranty. Still love this car!

Still love hot hatches but this model not it
I have had hot hatchbacks for years. Some more techy as less hot. The GTI just falls way behind in many areas, tech, style, mpg, and interior materials.

Leftover NEW 2020 GTI SE!
I was lucky enough to scoop a brand new 2020 GTI in May of 2021 and I am so glad I did. I saw the designs for the mk8 and wasn't wild about it. Mine is Tornado Red, a classic VW color. I previously had a 1997 Golf and a 2013 Golf, so this was a natural progression. I've wanted a GTI for a long time and this car does not disappoint! It is beautiful, high quality, and faster than a lot of people on the highway. Lots of personality too. I've put 5,000 miles on it so far and I've loved every minute of it. I can't see what more someone would want in a car, the GTI has it all. Looks great, sounds great, feels great. Don't hesitate!
