I have owned a black 1993 Corrado VR6 with black Recaro leather from day one from dealer and now at 20 years old and 260 000km it still puts a smile on my face.Reliability is excellent and only changed normal wear and tear parts and some sunroof and coolant problems but what car have you owned that has not needed repairs and i was happy to fix a good car. Now i don't use it as my every day car and my wife tells me to sell it but i don't want to let her go.This car was something special when built you can't get that feeling unless today you spend big money.Best VW ever built and the sound of that VR6.

FUN, FUN, FUN... Low selling price, don't be fooled...what you save in a car payment will be spent on repairs. The cars are aging and it shows. DO NOT BUY AN AUTOMATIC!!! Check out the supercharger...and don't think that expensive mods add to the selling price. You should be paying more for a stock Corrado if it was well maintained.

I have owned two Corrados now and I can say without a doubt that of all the cars I have owned (Accord, Civic, RSX, ES300, Endeavor, Dakota, PT Cruiser), the Corrado is my favorite! The Corrado is a very unique car, which is perhaps why I like it so much. It is a very fun car to drive. I love the automatic rear spoiler (yes, the one on mine still works.) In fact, everything but the fog lights on mine still works. Both Corrados I have owned took a lot of TLC, but to me it was worth it. I wish I had the chance to buy one brand new, but I wasn't even driving then. I think it would be awesome if VW came out with a new Corrado!

Awesome car that performs and handles just as good if not better then a lot of newer vehicles today. Love this car because its rare don't see to many driving around, fun to drive, sounds great and is very good looking even now. Can easily purchase a corrado for under $5000. If you have considered buying a corrado I warn that they can be expensive to maintain, but well worth it since there was under 100,000 produced world wide. Future collector car? Will enjoy this car for years to come .

True VW enthusiasts will appreciate the design and power of this supercharged G60 engine. VW's have their history rooted in 4 cylinders and this one is a classic. The car has a lot of power, handles incredibly, looks like a Euro car, and is comfortable. It may look small but with its slightly sloped rear hatch this car has enough room to fit a 30,000 BTU air conditioner(with rear seats down of course). I've owned one for 9 years and am still as enthused as the first day I purchased it.

Best VW ever built

People keep asking me if my car is a current year model. The Corrado is the best unknown VW. I have seen many a new car owners, in particular new to VW owners rubbernecking. I can only image them thinking that "Hey! How'd I miss that VW on the lot. I would have bought it instead of this!". Smooth ride, I think the G60 is better balanced than the VR6 later models. Easy to upgrade, timeless styling, good on gas (Still 26mpg w/ mods, when I stay off the gas), Neat features like the MFA computer, two position sunroof, speed activated spolier (just like the Porsche's), BBS wheels. I could go on, but this is the best VW I've owned.

Only had it for two months, runs great but the fuel economy is terrible. Interior design seems cheap for a sports car. Good seats, but the dash and controls aren't too spiffy.

This Corrado is the 6th VW I have owned (3rd with a VR6) and I dreamed about owning an SLC VR6 since I was a little girl. I finally got my hands on this black on velour 1992, and it has been great. This car is so solidly built that it doesn't even rattle when I drive it 100 mph! The VR6 pulls strong and you're reading the mileage right: 263k! I love the sport seats (heated too), and it's fun to show people the speed-sensitive spoiler (still works!). It's also great to own such a rare VW that has a lot of cachet and nostalgic value. Most people don't even know what a Corrado is or think it's a Scirocco, but those who know the Corrado know greatness! I can't wait for more good times with him.

This is the best car I've ever owned. Its sporty, fast and comfortable it puts my V8 muscle/sports cars to shame. Anyone looking for fuel economy in a sports car needs to rethink their idea on a sports car otherwise it handles unbelievably and it surprises even the most anti-VW people.

i have 51,500 miles on my corrado, all original. i love pretty much everything about it. only two complaints. no rear leg room, and not the best vw working parts, ( heater core went, ac needs recharge, temp gauge stop working). outside of that the car is a pleasure to drive. smooth vr6, pulls really strong, quite fast. the trans short gearing gets you up to speed quick. rubbery shifter feel but not so bad. seats are very comfortable. clutch is smooth and responsive. great driving position. cool looks, cool automatic wing, great engine note. an unmolested, low mile corrado is hard to part with.

Looks Cool, but Very Unreliable

Door handles should not get stuck and broke on a German Sports Car. Radiator cooling fan failed and had to get replaced by the dealer. The wiring harness is so exposed when you open the hood, you are afraid that they will melt and catch fire. Whatever happened to the insulation. Sunroof got fixed and crapped out. Maintenance is very expensive, should have bought a BMW instead. Before buying, check there are recalls on this car.

VR6 Corrado-not for the timid driver.

The VR6 SLC as shipped is a potentially dangerous ride when driven aggressively. Between the SERIOUS over- steer due to being nose-heavy and the tendancy to swap ends when breaking hard into a turn, it can be fairly unforgiving. While 178 bHp stock, a meager $1,100 worth of chips and bits can easily belt out over 220 bHp. My advice is to invest in Konis and Brembos before testing your abillity to keep this machine on all fours... Supurb fit and finish and damned good looking although plagued by spotty electrical and some unpleasant and unnerving handling problems (stock). Overall, a bargain at twice the price.

Truely an amazing auto. Spectacular looks that have not been matched since its birth. Unique features like the speed sensitive rear spoiler only seen on corrados and a few porsche. 2.8l provides good power, buckets of torque when you need it. the interior is very nice, leather all around if you opted. The Sound of the VR6 engine wide open will make your hair stand on end. The fact that so few where ever produced for North America make it even more appealing to many. I have never heard of anyone who sold their corrado and did not regret it.

Exellent performance, fun to drive,Corrado screams like a crazed banchee when you put it down, and runs like the wind. A p-chip, nuespeed exaust, and a nuespeed air filter changes the game. Stangs and comarros get smoked like a...... well you know lol.

I'm a vw addict. I love the corrado. I had a 98 GTI VR6 before this. Even though the GTI was newer and a little more solid feeling, I love the corrado. With TT wheels, H&R coilovers, exhaust, intake, chip, Oettinger body kit, etc., I can't drive anywhere without people taking double looks or pointint at my car. Definitely unique and fun to drive, even if it isn't the fastest car on the road or the biggest bang for the buck.

This is the car I wanted when I was high school but couldn't afford. After a turn of bad luck with my last car I found the Corrado. I was hesitant at first because it's a very compact car but with the seat all the way back and angled down my 6'4" 200 lbs frame fit just fine. It's an extremely fun to drive and the fact that the speed sensitive spoiler still works is an added plus. The Corrado club of America site is very helpful and if you can find a mechanic that knows Corrado’s stay with him. As nice as the car is it is kind of quirky. But as a first car or a project car this is it.

I bought my 1993 Corrado used with approx 68k miles on her. Now at 200k miles she is still running great, the engine and transmission have never been apart, other than the timing chains and clutch at 126k. The stock sunroof by VW/Rockwell is the only non functioning part on the car. For the fun per mile owned, the sleek lines and rock solid German contruction and coachwork by Karmann cannot be beat.

They were never given a chance

Corrados these days are a cult followed car. They are known as one of the best VWs ever built. However, its base price in the early 90s was a lot and you could have gotten a base entry Porsche for it. They are often called the Poor Man's Porsche and the name sticks. With very nice handling and 0-60 speed in the 5 second area, it makes the Corrado a car of this era. The great things include the speed sensitive rear spoiler. However, being a 17 year old car at the most, expect to pay quite a bit for upkeep on one of these rare sport coupes that was never given a chance. Also, in good running condition expect to pay ~ $5,000-$9,000 plus a few maintenance bills.
