This is the fifth VW convertible I've had over the years and this has definitely been the best model. It is solid and great fun to drive. Everything about it is quality. The sound system is great; it has great pick-up and passing ability and lots of room for a small vehicle. And when you drive down the road with the top down, the sun beaming down and the stereo cranked, there is nothing better!!!

I've really enjoyed owning this car. Mechanically I've had few problems. The leather on the interior door panels peeling back has been my only major problem. Great, reliable, moderately priced, top down driving.

Maybe it's because I bought it used, but overall this car has been a disaster. It has a clean title and I do a lot of upkeep and it still keeps making its way back into the shop...and repairs are EXPENSIVE. Parts are not cheap for this car at all. I have had numerous problems with oxygen sensors and with the cooling system. My latest woe was having to replace the timing belt and radiator. It's actually in the shop as I speak...and I made need the catalytic converter replaced....ouch....I'm now in the market for a new vehicle.

I love the styling and design of this car (except the cup holders, that is). It's been a fun car to drive and I get lots of compliments and cat-calls. However, it has fallen flat when it comes to performance and reliability. The ABS brake light has been on for years (nobody seems to know why), the A/C system died after only three years, there is a strange clunking in the rear tires that has been there since day one, I could go on and on. And, I shudder to think about the amount of money I've dumped into this car.

I have owned my Cabrio for two years, and still get butterflies driving down the road with the top down. The car handles great, especially with high performance tires. My only complaint is with the patterned cloth seats, they're very "Mickey Mouse." My only problem with the vehicle was when the "start up tune" wouldn't stop playing; that was maddening. I love encountering other Cabrios when traveling; I've yet to meet one whose owner didn't smile and wave!
