Used 2016 Toyota Tundra CrewMax Cab Consumer Reviews
2016 Tundra Limited Crewmax 2wd
I’ve logged 75K miles on this truck including towing, hauling and general driving. The truck’s mechanical reliability is outstanding. I’ve replaced the tires and front/rear brakes, regular PM items, but no other mechanical repairs. The motor has ample power but does have a significant lag on power response if not using tow/haul mode. The interior could be better as there is quite a bit of plastic; the carpet is inferior as well as the storage capabilities. The exterior paint is poor in quality, chips quite easily, etc. The truck is a gas pig, regardless of driving conditions. The ride of the vehicle is choppy and the suspension has quite a bit of roll which can cause you to slow in tighter cornering, etc. All in all, the truck has been very reliable mechanically and gets the average work and play done with ease. If I were pulling a trailer more, I would certainly consider options from the “big three” as there are so many more configurations available than with Toyota.

2016 SR5 Crewmax...Excellent performance
Since owning one for the past five years (in Hawaii), I have only done oil changes, rotated tires, and a muffler swap. Other than that, it runs solid, with no issues. Off-road was comfortable, and the turning radius made it possible to U-turn on different terrains. Also my wife enjoys the smooth ride on the road. I wouldn't buy another truck on the market right now (except for the Raptor, but it's too pricey). I have owned Chevys and Fords in the past, and will not go back. Each truck has their pros and cons...but the Tundra did have more pros than cons. The rear cab is very spacious and when off-roading, I keep the rear window down to listen for any weird noises and or hits when going over rocky terrain. The Tundra doesn't have a high station like the F150, but so far, I have only scraped the step bars, and the front skid plate going over rocky terrain to our fishing spots. Of course, the gas mileage is the low...but it is worth every penny in my opinion. No other truck has a better resale value as well. I will never know how it handles in snow, but it pulls unlucky tourists out of the sand almost every weekend. I do wish that I took better care of the exterior, as branches have scratched it several times when I attempted to avoid deep water ruts, large rocks on the trail, and other hazards while off-roading. And I have a older single cab Tacoma to thrash thru trails, but when the family wants to go fishing, unfortunately I have to take the Tundra. It is a full sized truck, therefore I don't take it on mountain trails or rock crawling, but I believe wasn't made for that. I see the Tundra more of a dunes, open trail, safari type of off-roading vehicle. So it performs well in sand and beach trails.
